1 Chapter 1 "I want to be free"

"Miss Bella, can you please tell Elina that the elders are calling for her" said a young man, who was standing just outside Miss Bella's house. She smiled, looking at the boy with her broom hanging in the air, she was sweeping at the entrance of her house. "I will right away" she waved at the boy then turned coming towards my bedroom, upstairs. "Elina dear you have to wake up now! it's almost 4 in the morning and are still asleep" I pulled a pillow and placed it on my head.

"Mmm! you old woman stop with your nagging" she lifted a broom that she was holding and hit my buttocks "You lazy wits" I sat up with a frown settled on my face "Aaah!  I am not lazy!" although I was, I just couldn't let anyone call me that. She came and sat awhile with me on a bed with a serious look "The elders are calling for you Eli wash up faster and go" I rolled my mouth in denial "I don't want to! What's the point of going? they are just gonna taunt me for being a weakling" she held my hand caressing it "Listen Eli....some thing's are not rushed,  you need patience to achieve them" she gave me a peck on my cheek, I knew this all was her way of bribing me to go. 

I walked and stood by the open window and a big yawn followed, I wondered why they called for me this time, were they going to add more training to my list just so my powers could be unlocked? "I'll go, but only because you told me to" she came and gave me a back hug, the only hug that cures me. "Oh my baby.... thank you so much" I smiled facing the bright light from the sun.

Few minutes later, I climbed downstairs combing my hair. Bella was setting the table for breakfast "Come and eat first Elina" I shook my head "No I'll eat when I get back, I don't wanna get nauseous once those elders open their mouths" She chuckled, shaking her head "You sure hate them, don't you?" she covered the food with plastic wrap. I went towards her and gave her a kiss on her forehead "Yes! Just as much as they hate me, I'll be back Bella" she shook her head again smiling as I turned to go to the elders of our pack, another day of disappointment. "Hello Elina!" two little girls that were running around said in unison "Hello" I replied with a smile. Some moment later, I arrived at what seemed to be a local house made by bamboo trees.  I knocked before entering "Anyone home" I knew they were in, I just wanted to tease them. I somehow enjoys it.

Two old female Kiko and Kitana and an old man Adam, sat on a curved wooden chairs like statues, their white hairs that fell to their shoulders were dancing from the wind. "Good day to our elders" I bowed greeting them and they nodded in unison, Kiko pointed me to sit down on a blue fluffy carpet. "We have something to inform you princess" I lifted my head facing them 'What are they gonna tell me now looking this serious?'. The old man, Adam cleared his throat pulling my attention to him "We received a letter from an academy, they offered you a scholarship" he halted looking at my reaction, little did he know I was a queen of faking emotions since I was a little girl, they made me who I am today. He continued after seeing my blank face "You are supposed to go there on Monday. Do you have anything to say?" I exhaled, letting the ting of excitement that was brewing in my chest to cool down first. "I'll go, I'd love to" Kitana handed me a calendar, it was designed according to our own lunar dates. "You have to be careful with your stay there, the lunar eclipse is in one month and you'll be turning 18 on that night to manifest all your powers'' I lifted my head up staring at them, Adam gave me a glass of a local drink, it was a costume when elders calls for you to give you a drink as a blessing.  I drank it and handed back the glass to him, he placed it on a table "You have to be back on that night no one is supposed to see you, you know the rules, especially vampires they are our enemies" I nodded, I've never seen any fight amongst the two races, apart from the history of course, but those of my kind loves saying that statement, that were enemies. "I get it" I replied, he motioned his hand to the door. "You may go and prepare yourself, Jeremy will drop you there" I nodded before heading out.

Once I was outside of the dark local house I spread my hands wide and inhaled then exhaled,  I ran with happiness, I couldn't believe that I was finally gonna be freed from the pack and these stupid people who only focuses on making my powers come to live instead of me. On my way home I ran into my old friend "Beatrice!" I walked to her, held her hands and started to spin her along with me. She didn't understand my actions, but played along. "You seems happy Eli, have you found  your mate?" she teased me, I halted letting go of her and placed my hands above my waist "What mate? I don't need to have one, I just wanna be a free bird" I laughed making her crease at me "Spit it! what happened?". I cleared my throat and filled some air to my lungs "I got a scholarship I'll be going to academy at town on Monday" she was shocked "What! it can't be! How did you convince the elders?" she rubbed her chin, I was also dumbfounded how they let me go now when they never wanted to let me step out of our territory. "I didn't! They called me and informed me that, now that I think about it, what happened to them?" There has to be a solid reason behind this, I shook away the thoughts, I had to enjoy this moment. "Anyway I am so happy Beatrice that I can finally breathe a different air" she gave me a quick hug "Oh yes I am happy for you, I can see your dreams are coming true" she said wirh her teary eyes, I smiled at her and hugged her again. Being my best friend she knew how much inportant this was for me. "I know right huh!" we parted ways and I went back home very energetic, unlike how I stepped out. They say do not reject a call but you can reject what you are being called for. "Bella please serve me some breakfast, I am famished" she noticed my emotions and raised a brow "What happened? You seem excited, I thought you'll be back sulking as always" I walked to give her a tight hug before sitting down on a table "You want me to tell you something amazing?" she nodded. "I got scholarship at town I'll be going this Monday " these news were both good and bad to her but she still came and gave me a warm hug.

"Oh I am so happy for you Eli, but I am going to miss you so much my child" a tear fell down to my shoulder,  I pulled back facing her, sigh... I knew this was going to happen. "Me too" and now it was my turn to shade tears, she wiped my eyes and pulled me to sit and eat. "You have to meet with Diego before you go, you have to know some tricks to protect yourself Eli" there she goes again, she is always worried about my safety before anything else. "I will I promise" I had to make her stop worrying. I finished eating and headed to my bedroom. Bella came and started to pack my things, a day went by listening to her advices to me of once I was in town . 

I woke up the next day, had my breakfast and set out for Diego. I didn't find him at his home so I decided to enter the woods searching for him. He was sitting on a tree and he threw a stone on my head "Aaaah Diego!" I frowned, stomping my feet, he chuckled "Hello princess, are you here for exercise?" He already knew it from Bella. I nodded "Yes, now climb down!" I ordered him, he threw himself down and landed softly on the ground. Wow I wished I was like him at times, he was our warrior, the war was running in his veins. He pulled my hand "Come with me" I followed him to the battle ground that we usually use for training, actually I am the weakest one in my pack. I just couldn't believe that I'll be their guardian someday, even they looked down on me geez. He made me stand before him "I need you to cover yourself from my attack" I nodded,  he started to throw punches at me, I dodged them at first but damn he was too quick! I couldn't match him and found myself punched. "Stop it !" phew, I needed some air I was running out of breath,  he chuckled "That was only basic and you are already out of energy? You are disappointing princess. I was hurt by his words "Let's do it again, you monkey" he was excited this time  I received punches but I was able to hold back some and finally punched his face, lord I was happy to the core. That punch was for looking down on me even though I knew he was only doing that to motivate me. I finished training and learned some tricks enough to keep me alive, having no powers and to step out of our territories would be a big challenge to me. I went back home and had my meal before going to bed.

"Elina wake up you'll be late!Goodness this girl!" Bella's voice rang in my head I was too sleepy still, she pinched my cheeks "Wake up Eli" I frowned as I sat up "Aaaah that hurts Bella" I shot her a glare, she smiled and rubbed where she had pinched me. "What can you do when you can't even wake up on your own, what will happen to you at the academy?" I yawned "I'm just going to sleep inside my dorm, but I am going to miss you, my Bella" I moved to her embrace she caressed my hairs "Be careful child, I need you to concern yourself with studies only, avoid attachments, do you understand?" I nodded "Mmm" she cupped my face making me face her "I love you Elina" I felt my eyes stinging, tears falling down my cheeks, I buried my face on her neck, sobbing silently. "I love you too Bella, so much". I took a shower, eaten breakfast,  said my farewell to everyone before sitting on a jeep "Hi Jeremy" he smiled at me "Hello, princess" I closed the door as he started the engine and set off. On our way I felt so bored and decided to turn on a radio, man who would've thought that my favorite song would be playing. I enjoyed the lyrics so much I couldn't help but to sing.

I sang all the way making the trip less boring Jeremy was quietly smiling before he uttered "You have a beautiful voice as you are Elina" I blushed "Oh thank you Jeremy".

We reached the main gate of the academy. The name was curved on it. "Frost Academy" it was very wide and large nameplate. "I think we're here princess" Jeremy looked at me.

The guards opened the gate and our car hopped in and parked before the entrance of a building. Jeremy took out my luggage "You can go in can't you

? or do you want me to escort you?"  I shook my head "No, you can go now. Thank you" I gave him a quick hug before he left. I turned towards the academy, damn it was very big and many separate buildings in what seemed to be a massive fence. I walked to the main building that was at the center. "I think it's this one." I had a memo in my hand.
