1 Chapter 1 Hazel Rav Green

"Doctor," Hazel stood in front of the hospital door pleading.

"There is no use, even if you stand in front of my door for a whole month it won't change a thing," the doctor said arrogantly.

"Please give me some time, I promise I will pay everything but don't abandon my brother," she cried.

Hazel's little brother had just been admitted for the fourth time this month. Deep down, Hazel knew if she wasted any more time she could end up losing him. Through him, Hazel had the chance to experience what it felt like to have a family. She couldn't take it that he was going to slip before his eyes. After a while, time seemed to have passed by she didn't even know when she had sat down.

The floor was cold but losing her brother was colder than anything. Growing up in an orphanage Hazel only knew one thing money. She knew the only way to survive in this cruel world was to have money. At a young age, she had already matured and knew how to spend, save, and earn money.

Aside from her brother, money was the thing she loved most.

Hazel stood up from the floor, dusted her clothes, wiped her dried tears, and then walked away. She passed by the place where her brother was receiving an IV drip which was the least thing the hospital could do for him. Since they couldn't afford money, he was placed in the hospital's lobby with other unfortunate patients like him.

She sighed heavily and then walked away.

"I have to get one more job, I'm Hazel Rav Green I can't and won't give up," she mumbled as she walked. That statement gave her the strength that she needed.

She walked into the hotel where she worked she delivered food and would at times help out in the kitchen to earn extra cash.

"Hazel, you aren't supposed to work today right?" The owner said as soon as she spotted her.

"Yeah, but can I just..." she said hesitantly.

"Sure, grab an apron it's almost dinner time so the hotel is busy, help out in the kitchen,"

"Thank you so much, boss,"

"Don't mention it, I know you want extra cash for your brother's medical surgery," the owner said.

"How did you know?"

"I know you, you have worked for me for five years now how could I possibly not know?"

Hazel couldn't help but feel grateful aside from her friend and brother, her boss was the only person who genuinely cared for her.

"Hurry up, don't you have another job at night?" She said drawing her away from her thoughts.

"Yeah, I do,"

"Hurry up, or else you will get into trouble,"

"Okay,"

That was basically, Hazel's life juggling between different work. Funny thing, she was already used to it.

"Hazel, it's already a 6:30pm it's time for you to go," Hazel heard her boss yell from the kitchen.

"I'm almost done," she said. After fifteen minuest, she walked out of the kitchen hurriedly if she was late again, she would be in for it tonight.

"Here, your paycheck,"

"Thank you,"

"Use this money to pay for your taxi or else you might be in trouble,"

"No need, you have already done so much," Hazel said.

"There is no need to be so courteous now take it if you don't want me to get mad I insist," she stretched her hand towards Hazel.

"Thank you again," Hazel replied sincerely.

"Go, what a silly girl!"

Hazel immediately rushed outside as she sat down, she stared at her the watch anxiously.

"It will take me about twenty minutes, if there is no traffic jam and any disturbance," she mumbled.

"Mr. can you drive a bit fast?" She turned to the driver.

"Got it."

"Where did you get the money for the taxi? Are you now hiding money from me?" Her annoying voice welcomed her before Hazel could alight from the taxi. She paid the money and then walked towards the lady in front of her.

"I'm talking to you brat, you live under me don't forget that go and serve the guests," the lady yelled furiously.

She was her foster mother or rather her employee. Their bond was more of an employee and employer rather than a mother. Adopting Hazel was one way of getting cheap and free labor.
