36 Leo's Suspicion

The two lovers stepped out of the hotel with bright smiles on their faces. Leo had a lot of work at hand so he couldn't enjoy the entire night with Rachel. He had to take her back and focus on his work since he believed there was still more to do.

Leo needed more information to piece the puzzle together. He planned to spend time with her later on but not today. Today, he needed to be Leo Wright, Junior associate of the White Associates Law firm.

Leading Rachel to his car which was a sleek black convertible, Leo opened the door for her.

"Hop in," he said, grinning.

Rachel looked at him with a curious smile.

"What's going on?" she asked.

Leo just shook his head.

"You'll see."

Leo answered as he got into the driver's seat. He then started the car, and the engine vroomed to life.

As they drove through the city, the warm breeze ruffled their hair, and the stars twinkled overhead. Leo had planned a route that would take them along the most scenic roads, winding through the hills and past lakes and forests.

As they drove, they listened to soft jazz music on the car's sound system. Leo reached over to hold Rachel's hand and she responded by leaning her head against his shoulder. In such a fashion, they drove on in a comfortable silence.

Finally, the car reached a lookout point that overlooked the entire city. Leo parked the vehicle, and they got out, admiring the view. The lights of the city twinkled below them, and the moon shone down, casting a romantic glow over everything.

Leo turned to Rachel with a proud grin on his face before speaking.

"So what do you think?" he asked with a grin.

"It's amazing," she said with a sweet smile, feeling a warm sensation spreading through her chest.

Leo leaned in for a kiss, and they embraced, swaying gently to the music. As they kissed, they felt like they were the only two people in the world, lost in their own private bubble of love and affection.

Finally, they broke the kiss, smiling at each other.

"Let's go home." Leo said, taking Rachel's hand again.

They got back into the car, and as they drove back to Rachel's apartment, they talked about their future together. Since Leo was planning on making Rachel fall head over heels for his own benefit, he was determined to do things carefully to ensure success.

Leo couldn't help but notice how much effort Rachel was putting into all of this and for some reason it made him feel good.

As they arrived at Rachel's apartment, Leo leaned in for one last kiss.

"I will consider this our first date. So it's safe to say you are planning the next." Leo said with a smile.

"I'm not really good at planning these things." Rachel said in a shy tone as she lowered her head.

The current Rachel was a sharp contrast to the wild girl from a few hours ago, and it was this fact that made Leo smirk.

"Don't worry, as long as sex is on the list of events, it will definitely turn out fine." Leo said with a confident smile making her blush sheepishly.

"Thank you." Rachel said.

"I had a great time." She seemed reluctant to let the moment end. She felt like if she walked away, she won't get to see him again.

Leo could tell what she was feeling and this gave him the thought that Racehl may even better than having Emily and Sarah by his side.

[Love is a dangerous emotion...]

[Do not let it linger for too long...]

A message appeared before his eyes, making him frown.

'Love? How can I ever love?'

Leo mocked the system.

He quickly masked his mood and gave Rachel a final hug before entering his car and driving off into the moonlight.

---

Leo returned to his place with his mind completely lost in the thoughts of tonight's events. His mind was going through two important facts he has come across.

Tyler was someone who wasn't afraid to do whatever it takes to get what he wanted. This was why he would go as far as to drug his friend and even try to assassinate a lawyer. Many people have done worse but have never they gone as far as to kill a fucking junior associate when the case wasn't even over.

Unknown to Tyler though, the more he tries to push Leo away, the more he makes mistakes, revealing certain previously hidden information regarding the case.

The second issue had to do with the hitman with the Hydra tattoo. He was an unknown variable since Leo had no idea how strong the people behind him were. But in the end, he felt willing to take a look and see the best they can do.

Remembering the threats of the hitman, Leo was sure more attempts will be made to take his life, most likely because of personal reasons this time. To be honest, he wasn't sure of what the system had installed for him. But for some reason even now his life is at risk, Leo felt no fear. Instead, he felt somewhat excited.

Entering his home, Leo went straight to his room and walked over to his reading desk. He pulled open his laptop and wanted to search for something, but seemed to pause halfway and rethink his decision. Instead, Leo pulled out his phone and dialed Lyson's number.

"Lyson..." Leo's voice was void of any form of emotions contrary to his time with Rachel.

"Yes, Mr. Wright, do you need anything?" Lyson's hurried voice rang on the phone.

"What company did Tyler and Jimmy work for?" Leo asked with a raised eyebrow.

There was silence for a short while before a response came.

"Last time I checked, Tyler worked for Sansa Tech. It was fairly average compared to Jimmy working for New Dawn the leading tech industry in the states today." Lyson's voice seemed to light up as he said the last part. The excitement of his friend achieving something amazing seemed to come but as it fizzled out, it left him with far more than it came with.

Leo cut the call on the heartbroken Lyson and continued his research on the two companies. It turns out that both are tech companies but at the moment New Dawn seemed to sit at the pinnacle and Sansa Tech was more like a rival who was constantly being suppressed.

'If that's the case, then he has the motivation needed to kill Jimmy but this wasn't enough.'

At least not for Leo.

Now he knew that the two worked for rival companies, Leo thought everything would get easier but it seemed to get even more complicated.

Did Tyler kill Jimmy due to jealousy?

That was a very reasonable conclusion, but Lyson said something about Tyler trying to gather information concerning work that night. Why would someone who was killing out of jealousy seek information?

What if the information was the reason he did it?
