Chapter 13 - Admiration

3rd POV:

Xiao Zhan's face exploded into a pink shade of red, coloring every bit of his milk white skin on his face.

"Nothing happened! I was only applying medicine on his lips...I mean...oh my god, you did not even press the button of the lift. No wonder we were not going anywhere." Xiao Zhan spluttered out, punching the button of the first floor of the lift.

Apart from the fact that his sister was embarrassing him at the moment, he was already feeling very comfortable and his sister treated him as she used to.

The flustered Xiao Zhan retaliated defending his innocence, "There is nothing going on between us. I swear..."

"Zhan." Yan Li interrupted.

"No, I really was..." Xiao Zhan said getting louder.

"Xiao Zhan!" Yan Li's louder voice got him to stop his rambling.

"You forgot your items upstairs...don't you actually still have work to do?" Tricia asked him, resuming to her normal volume.

Xiao Zhan face palmed himself.

"Jie, how about you give me your number and I will call you in my free time."

"Sure bruv. Call me anytime. Here is my business card with my number on it." Yan Li said as they reached the first floor.

"Bye Bye! Have fun with hot stuff!" Ning called into the lift before she strode into the lobby.

Xiao Zhan began to protest against her statement but she was already out of sight.

*Back in the office*

Xiao Zhan finally exited the lift after taking a good 5 minutes to plan how to make the situation and his interactions with Yi Bo as 'awkward less' as possible, after what had happened.

Xiao Zhan moved out of the lift and heard a faint talking from the office.

He slowly and quietly walked towards the source of the talking and he spotted Yi Bo looking out of the crystal clear windows at the vast city night view, while talking to someone on the phone.

Curious as always, Xiao Zhan quietly sat down on an office chair, put his head on the table and listened to Yi Bo's phone conversation.

"Huang Zi Tao...are you telling me that you want a day off so you can go back to your hometown because of your sick grandma? Tomorrow?"

Xiao Zhan listened to the silence after Yi Bo's question, assuming that Zi Tao was was talking on the other side of the line.

As Yi Bo continued speaking however, Xiao Zhan fell into a slumber like a baby to a soft lullaby.

"Hmm, okay it's reasonable. I will just find another companion for the banquet. I wish your grandma lots of health."

Yi Bo let out a sigh and turned around, noticing Xiao Zhan's collapsed body on the table.

Yi Bo's eyes widened in amusement.

"It's okay, Tao. Don't worry, I'll find someone. See you."

Yi Bo ended the call and walked towards Xiao Zhan's dozed off, sleeping figure.

Yi Bo leaned on the edge of the desk with his back and turned his head to the side to get a better look at the sleeping man.

Faint rays of light, coming in through the large office windows from the neighboring buildings, danced over Xiao Zhan's face.

His long eye lashes shimmering in the slight glow.

Yi Bo just stood and admired Aphrodite sleeping, finally reaching out a hand to gently tussle Xiao Zhan's silky, jet-black hair.

This action caused Xiao Zhan to stir from his sleep.

Xiao Zhan's eye lids fluttered open only to graze straight at Yi Bo, who was staring right back at him with intrigued eyes.

What seemed like the 10th time today, Xiao Zhan jumped up in shock, hit his pelvis against the table edge, yelped in agony and fell painfully onto the ground.

Yi Bo chuckled at the sight and smiled wholeheartedly for the first time in a long while.

Xiao Zhan's heart skipped a beat as he looked at Yi Bo with disbelief and admiration, momentarily forgetting the pain he was in.

Having never seen him smile or laugh, Yi Bo's sudden chuckle and smile caused Xiao Zhan's heart to purr in pleasure and delight, the rate of his heartbeat increasing to dangerous levels.

"Here.", Yi Bo said, reaching his hand out to Xiao Zhan, his smile still etched across his face.

Xiao Zhan, who was still frozen due to the smile, jumped out of his daze and grabbed hold of Yi Bo's hand letting Yi Bo pull him up from the floor.

A jolt of electricity coursed through their arms and body, as if two ends of a wire had been closed and the circuit was now complete, electricity being able to flow freely throughout the complete circuit.

Xiao Zhan's brain became the circuit breaker and he pulled his arm away from Yi Bo's so he would not do some crazy, amoral deed like kissing the overly-sexy lad.

Xiao Zhan quickly adjusted his suit brushing off any potential dust that might have collected on his suit, and looked at Yi Bo in silence again.

Yi Bo, who was similarly looking at Xiao Zhan, rasped his voice and returned to his professional state with a straight face.

"Anyways, Mr. Huang is not free to go to the Summer Cooperate Banquet tomorrow. So you will be my companion, any objections?" Yi Bo looked at Xiao Zhan with expectancy.

Xiao Zhan looked dumbfounded at Yi Bo, then bushed and shyly nodded, accepting the invite.
