WX 20

"I'll send you the coordinates from your position," a few seconds later and my communicator started acting like a tracking unit.

"I've got it," as I stared at the screen my mind was filled with the carnage I was sure awaited me at the scene, "where is the exit?" After another look at my communicator he hugged me close and up into the night sky we flew. My past experience of being in a vampire's arms weren't pleasant to say the least; they were all life threatening cases. Being picked up by a vampire knowing they intended to drop you when you reach a certain height did not make for an enjoyable time, but what an Adrenaline rush you'd get.

Unlike my usual mode of transportation this one did not have a windshield and even if I did protest about being manhandled you learn pretty quick not to antagonize the said transportation, while being transported, we did make good time so there is that, sure my hair was a mess and was probably filled with bugs and other unmentionables and thank the Ancestors for tight pants

As fast as air-vampire was by the time we arrived it seemed like a gun fight had just taken place, when he finally landed I found WX 20 on the ground, "WX 20 what are you doing here?" The WX division usually dealt with werewolf related incidents.

"I was the closest," he said through the pain; he had somehow managed to get himself shot in the leg. "There are two kids left in there, I couldn't do anything for the parents…got here…too late." WX 20 said pointing towards what at one point i suppose could have been a cozy home but was now a hole ridden dump and from the way WX 20 was barely conscious and not healing, from a mere gunshot wound to the leg, it must be a silver bullet that got him.

"Don't worry, I'll take it from here you just stay put," I rushed into the house to find a boy who looked about ten clutching a baby to his chest as he huddled behind a metal desk that was currently being used for target practice, probably by the same guy that put a bullet in WX 20.

"Bastard…!" I screamed to divert his attention from his current target.

"VX 12, how amusing to find you here, and with a vampire too," it was Carlos one of the Hexiles I had a history with of course it was Carlos; one a nasty piece of work like him would still be at the scene of the crime chilling after he had already shot a Reaper. If he wasn't so good at somehow always managing to slip away I would swear he was a confused worm.

"Carlos you piece of shit, can't you tell the difference between vampires and humans anymore," I could see the body of what clearly was a human woman lying near the desk the children hid behind; she had probably died protecting them.

"The way I see it, a vamp whore is not any different from a vampire, they both deserved it," he glared at the blonde vampire behind me, "just like you it seems, all your sympathy towards vampires finally turned you into a vamp whore yourself." The bastard ducked for cover the moment he saw me but was still dumb enough to throw insults.

"Carlos you are really beginning to try my patients," I yelled in his direction then whispered to my left, "could you get the kids out of here," but tall, blonde and gorgeous was not listening to me and had a distant look on his face that said his thoughts were elsewhere. Damn just what I need a distant vampire at my back, a few seconds later his eyes refocused on me.

"We need to get back home soon."

`"Yeah the sun will be up in less than an hour, better hurry on back to your coffin," mocked Carlos loudly, poking his head out from behind the wall.

What an idiot! ; Vampires no longer slept in coffins, besides powerful enough vampires have no need to fear the sun's power. Something else had caught Alec's attention besides the imminent sun rise and just then I could hear the faint sound of rotor blades of helicopters in the distance.

"Your friends have arrived, grab the children and lets go," it seemed Alec was hell bent on ignoring Carlos altogether.

"That's right, run away with your tails tucked between your legs," Carlos was still running his mouth as I persuaded the older boy to follow me.

"I'll leave you to the other Reapers," were my last words to him before I left the building. As I walked with the kids out into the night sky the scene that awaited us could be called laughable; the two vampires were surrounded by at least a dozen Reapers; the Reapers were barking out orders while Alec was ignoring them out right and just stood there waiting for ... me i guess. Holding back my amusement I walked over to them, "stand down boys; they're with me."

The dark haired guy suddenly came over to my side and flew off with the children as Alec came over and grabbed me around the waist.

"I have to check in with my boss." I looked into his eyes trying to get him to stop manhandling every two seconds.

"Later I want you by my side now," saying that he took off with me in his arms leaving an uproar amongst the reapers on the ground.

This trip was no better than the last… it might have been worse since Alec seemed to be in quite the hurry to get back, I was beginning to worry about what could have such a powerful vampire in a frenzy. When we arrived back at his Victorian style mansion there was a big noisy crowd awaiting us at the other end of that very long corridor. The moment he stepped into the room silence became an airborne disease that had fallen on the room's inhabitants, their faces portrayed fear and anger yet they kept quiet, all that could be heard were our footsteps as Alec led the way to the other side of the room where what seemed like a old viking like throne rested. The silence hung in the air up until the moment he took a seat pulling me to stand at his right side.

"I am aware of your reasons for assembling here." Alec addressed the crowd almost in a bored voice.

"So it's true my lord, you have allowed reaper VX12 to stand at your side," screeched a blond woman from the crowd.

"Kala," he said calmly "VX12 is mine," saying so Alec grabbed my hand, resting it on the arm of the chair and that was the final word on the matter or so it seemed.

Yeah his, I'd like to ring his neck. The thought of ringing his neck made me remember the choker around my own. "We need to talk about this choker you placed around my neck," I said, bending to speak into his ear.

For the second time since we met I saw his smile, the crowd gasped and I couldn't care less; that mocking smile only got on my last nerves. No matter how breathtakingly handsome he was when he smiled I knew when I was being laughed at and he was having a ball at my expense.

"I'm leaving; I need to check in with my boss from Haven, before day break." As I made to leave he grasped my left wrist. "You really need to stop that bad habit you got, of grabbing at me." I glared back at him from over my left shoulder.

"Take Ferdinand with you and return quickly," he said, releasing my wrist nodding at the dark haired guy at the door.

"You're kidding right? If I show up with him they're likely to think him a stalker and with the stunt you guys pulled previously I'm already in enough trouble. Not to mention we don't exactly get along… we can't stand each other," I said in a hushed voice, pretty sure everyone including Ferdinand could hear but what do I care no one told them to be blessed with great hearing.
