Assault From The Helping Hand

"Hey, Alex, tell me you would never leave me." Claire demanded as she was engulfed in Alex's arms and looked into his eyes.

"I would never leave you, Claire," Alex assured her with a soft voice. "Even if the Gods come down and tell me to do it, I would become an atheist to deny them all but I won't leave you."

Claire was getting flashbacks of her memories while running away in the alley, she was rushing out wildly to save herself from him.

"His eyes... His eyes..." She thought while running. She was getting reminded of his eyes continuously. They weren't the eyes of the Alex she knew. The eyes which were always filled with love and kindness were replaced with hatred and anger. It was so bloodlier that she might have gotten a stroke if she had starred in them longer.

Although the masked killer's face was the same as her long lost boyfriend Alex, she didn't want to omit the possibility of him being a different man yet with the same features. But deep inside, she couldn't deny that he was Alex. Was it fate who told her and played dirty? Nobody knows.

She could replay the entire terrifying scene in front of her eyes which happened just a while ago. The blood splattered on the mask of the killer, the continuous stabbing of the old man by him and him seeing her face while she was witnessing the crime taking place.

She was sure that he would kill her now. He had seen her face and she had seen his, it was enough for him to track down Claire. Even if the person was her long lost boyfriend, he was still a killer. It was better for her to report it to the police.

She hid in a dark and lone alley to save herself from him. She didn't know if he was still chasing her but she was too terrified to come out of the alley for now. Claire had been breathing heavily and couldn't move her trembling limbs now, her whole silhouette was shaking and reeking with fear.

Her mind had many questions erupting, but she had no way to get the answers. She had been sweating badly, even her eyes were a little watery. She was having mixed-up emotions.

She searched for her cellphone which she always kept inside the pocket, but it was nowhere to be found. She guessed that it must have been dropped somewhere while running.

What was she thinking before she went into the alley? She shouldn't have gone on the date today. The thoughts occupied in her mind reminding the young woman how unlucky she had been.

"World is full of roses and kisses, I am the one being thorn and pisses," A drunk old man was singing a weird song and was pissing on the wall in the alley. He spotted Claire and found it weird. He couldn't see her face as the alley was dark, but he guessed that the person was a girl from her silhouette.

He zipped up and walked to her. "What happened, girl? What are you doing here alone?" He said, noticing that she was breathing heavily. "Why are you panting so bad, daughter?"

"Please, save me from him," She blurted out. She didn't know whom to speak about so she just spoke it to him. "Please, save me from him."

The old man couldn't comprehend whom she was talking about. "Who is 'him'?"

The girl seemed too disturbed from inside, so he just tried to calm her. "You don't have to fear anyone. Say clearly, who are you talking about?"

She pointed out of the alley and stuttered, "That... That...masked... killer..."

"Masked killer?" The old man was shocked. Of course, he would be. The masked killer was the hot topic recently, everybody knew the danger lurking in the darkness. "Okay, okay, calm down. Come with me, I will leave you to your house."

"No, I don't want to go to my house," She denied with a terrified face. If the masked killer was Alex then he already knew her address. She didn't want to take the risk to go to her house where the killer might be waiting for her. "No, please take me to the police station. I want to report it right now."

"Are you sure?" The old man asked. She nodded hurriedly. "Okay, we will go to the police station right now," He said.

They left the alley while a man was looking at them going somewhere from behind the walls. His hand had the bloodied knife, the same knife from which the old man earlier was stabbed.

"How did you become the target of that masked killer? You are lucky that you escaped. He doesn't leave his victims alive," The old man said, walking towards the main street which was looking busy and full of vehicles passing by.

"I wasn't the target," She said, looking here and there with fear in her eyes. She was scared that the killer might be following her.

"You were not the target? Then why were you running from that person?" The old man asked, the effects of drinking had already died down due to shock.

"I... I..." She was stuttering as she was seeing the scene in front of her eyes again. "I... I.. saw him kill someone."

"What?" The old man was surprised. "Where did it happen?"

"At the third street," She said.

As they were talking, the old man stopped a taxi. They sat inside as he told the driver to take them to the police station.

"Who did you witness getting murdered?" The old man asked as the taxi started moving.

"It was an old man. I didn't know who he was, but I heard his moans from inside the alley. I ran to look at what happened, and..." She stopped in shock, she couldn't forget those eyes. They were haunting her.

She burst into tears and placed her hands on her mouth to not cry louder. Did she witness a heinous crime and getting the killer to see her face, made her terrified? Or was the killer being someone she knew, someone who knew everything about her, someone whom she loved made her cry?

While she was crying, the old man was leering on her body. The bumps were visible from over her white top. Her coat was not buttoned.

"Come on, you can cry on my shoulder," He placed his hand on her shoulders and tried to pull her to himself.

She pulled herself back and looked at him with suspicious eyes. "What are you doing?" She said.

"Don't get me wrong," He said. "I was just trying to make you feel better." While he was speaking, his eyes were continuously going at breasts which she wasn't liking.

She was getting suspicious of him. The person was looking shady as hell. She shouldn't have come along with a stranger. "Driver, stop the car," She said.

"You won't stop the car," The old man said and took out a currency note from his pocket. The driver took it and didn't stop the car, rather he changed his route.

"What are you doing?" She said in shock. The old man was leering at her with a smirk. She was now sure that she was about to be r*ped. She had nowhere to run. If she runs away from there somehow, the killer would kill her. If she doesn't, they would kill her more horrifically.

The old man grabbed her hand and pulled her. She was struggling to get herself free but was unable to. "Help!" She tried to scream but the windows were shut. Her voice wasn't reaching outside. She noticed that the taxi was going towards the less populated area out of the city.

While the car was moving, someone was waiting for them ahead at the road with a bloodied knife in his hands.

"Help!" She was struggling, but no one was there to help her.

Suddenly, a big rock fell on the front glass out of nowhere. "What the fuck?" The driver blurted. The impact was so hard, that it got cracked making the driver unable to see anything ahead. He pushed the break with all his strength and stopped the car with a screech.

"What did just happen?" The old man said, unable to comprehend anything. The driver walked out of the taxi to see what happened.

"Ah!" He moaned as a knife just got inserted into the side of his neck. His eyes were rolled up which was the sign of his soul getting out of his body.

The old man was just sitting there aghast in the car. He couldn't process his mind on what to do now. He and Claire both saw the masked killer pulling out his knife from the side of the driver's neck.

The driver fell on the ground while bleeding massively from his neck and died. The killer turned and headed inside the car from the door the driver left open. He sat inside the car and signalled the old man to get out of the car by moving his knife.

The old man gulped, his forehead wet in a cold sweat. He opened the door and tried to run away.

The killer started the car and ran over him. He rolled over the car and fell to the ground. The car went ahead while he was still alive.

"No, I won't tell anyone," The old man said, sitting on the ground and holding his leg. "Please, don't kill me."

The killer turned the car and ran over him. "Aaah!" The old man screamed and it all went blank.

The killer stopped the taxi ahead and turned to look at Claire, only to find her passed out on her seat from shock.
