Unexpected feelings

Steph hadn't been serious when she suggested that their opponents were reading their minds. It was simply something that occurred to her, but she saw right away the effect that she had on it May, and did not fail to notice her glances at Linda.

"I didn't expect this at all." Thought Steph. "Lilly said that Linda would be tough to handle but… first Rachel and now May? Isn't this girl supposed to be unpopular?"

Suddenly, May jumped from her seat. "I-I need to go to the toilet." She said quickly and darted off. The three girls stared after. Dannie was the first to recover.

"Well, let's hope it's a number one class is almost about to start." Dannie said with a chuckle. Steph couldn't tell whether Dannie didn't notice his friends or was just pretending. She seemed pretty perspective during the game.

"Why don't I send Linda after her?" The thought suddenly popped into Steph's head and the moment it did she turned to Linda. "Don't you need to pee, too?"

Linda and Daniel looked up at Steph, and she coloured at her thoughtless need.

"I-I mean…"

Linda 'getting the message' shot up and sped after May.

"Looks like you're also a mind reader." Said Dannie with a laugh as she packed away the cards.

When Linda entered the corridor, she caught a glimpse of May near the end of the same, turning in to the locker room. Linda followed.

"May…" Linda said softly, once she was inside the room. Nobody replied.

Linda closed the door behind her and suddenly had the urge to turn back and open the door, just to check if it wasn't locked. Perhaps, it wouldn't be so bad if there were some windows, but there were none except the blurred small on the door behind her.

She turned left looking down the aisles, noting, she went backward, retracing her steps and then bumped into someone. She screamed, causing the girl behind her to scream too.

"Linda, y-you followed me." May said, with a hand on her chest, trying to calm herself down. Linda nodded. May looked down as she spoke. "Do you hate me… for thinking this way?"

"No way!" Linda couldn't even imagine such an idea as ridiculous as hating May. Why would she even ask a question like that? Sure, she is a bit annoying sometimes, but that only made Linda like her even more.

When Linda said that, May's face lifted, and her blue eyes sparkled with tears. "You really mean it?"

Linda nodded and May rushed forward and, before Linda had a chance to recognize what was going on, May kissed her.
