CHAPTER ELEVEN: LUCKY OR BAD DAY

“.. Here she is” Grace said interrupting Margaret and I moment in the locker room since no one was inside except both of us before they got in
I looked at Margaret and gave her a signal that we should leave now before any commotion
We decided to leave at once when Rosa obstructed the path for us to go outside the locker room
“Rosa, what are you doing?” I asked her already even figuring out what they want
“So…” she was about to talk before I cut in
“Don’t bother to say anything, leave the way if you don’t want me to push you” I said already tired of her and her stupid friends on the second day of school for crying out loud
“What do you want?” I asked Rosa trying to avoid any misunderstanding over something little and very unreasonable
“Sorry but…” thankfully, the bell sound interrupted Rosa from saying whatever unreasonable from her mouth
“At least, the bell can convince you three that we shouldn’t avoid class but attend it” I said to her as I pushed my way to get out of the locker room
“We will talk later” Grace said as Margaret and I were about to step outside
“Listen, you don’t force others to be your friends” Margaret said before leaving, I was shocked and didn’t know what to do but to smile before leaving as well
“Good job talking to them” I said to her as soon as I caught up with her and walked together to class
“I didn’t say much but a piece of advice” she said as we turned to the right to get to our class quickly
“At least it was something” I shrugged as I opened the door to our class and surprisingly, the homeroom teacher got to class before us
“Well, good morning latecomers” Ms. Nate said as soon as she noticed us
“Morning ma’am” I said as Margaret and I walked to our seats
“I will pardon you two since you are just five minutes late” Ms. Nate said as we sat on our chairs
I am seriously surprised that no one is murmuring or gossiping seems something happened
“Just on the second day of resumption for the new students, four of you came late… Rosa and Kate aren’t in the class yet” the homeroom teacher said as soon as she picked up the marker from the pack of markers “let’s have your class now since there isn’t anyone entering the class anymore” Ms. Nate said as she wrote the date on the board
“I was thinking you will just be patient for the rest to come and if they don’t, you don’t teach but instead be patient for them” Samson said from nowhere
Jeez… I even almost forgot about this guy, so annoying now
“Samson, keep quiet if you don’t want to end up in detention class” Ms. Nate said
“Jeez... Teacher, you got to calm down!” he said as he rolled his eyes looking away
“Back to my discussion on the late comers, I will love to teach them a lesson by doing something that includes you getting extra credits in your assessments. You might not write test if you get that credits” she smiled as she walked towards the table next to the board
Wow… Thank goodness, I came to class early and now I am getting extra marks without even getting to write tests as usual
It seems that I am not the only one happy to hear that as well
There were discussions and some smiling
“I guess it will ease one from reading boring literatures” a girl said loudly and some students laughed at her statements
“Calm down Isabella, don’t get your hopes hyped too much” Ms. Nate said as she turned to look at the girl that drew everyone’s attention
“Come on, don’t tell me you are going to lure us to read them” Isabella said looking all gloomy as if hating the idea of reading Ms. Nate recommended literatures books
“I guess in order to earn the extra credits you got to play your part all of you” she said as she went to the table’s drawer and pulled out a long flat book
Some students groaned at what Ms. Nate suggested
“Sorry to spoil the mood but at least it will worth it instead of doing test” she said as she put the big book on the table and opened it
It looks like an attendance book and where is Rosa now? This is her second day in this prestige school and she is playing around
As a friend, I really hope she comes back with those her annoying new found friends
“The thing we are going to be doing is really simple. I will group you according to your names on the attendance and you will present yourself next time I will be having you on the topic given to you either in drama or in poem. You must demonstrate according to your part” she said as she scanned the book
“Not bad”
“Sounds simple”
“I just hope I get a better partner”
Some students agreed with what Mrs. Nate said
“Alright, let’s start” she said “Aabel Katherine” she called out
“Absent ma” someone answered for her
Such a big thing for her to miss
The name went on like that as she grouped them according to their names and their present in the class as she gave them the presentation they will be talking on either drama or poem
“Williams Christiana?” she called out
“Present ma”
“Zion Gabriel” she called out again
“I am here” Gabriel answered
“Okay, Gabriel and Christiana you will be taking poem on white love paragraph 3” she said and as if Gabriel and I understood what she said, we both looked at each other awkwardly
Even the class became quiet and looked at us
“So lucky her” a girl said
“Yeah and talking about white love really makes her more lucky” another girl said
