1 Chapter 1: An unexpected invitation

In the late summer of 2013, Yang Jiang, who had just finished her last semester of graduate school, was finally heading home. There was so much excitement in her heart as she was eager to get home and meet her family. When Yang Jiang saw the picture of her mother, she could no longer take her gaze away from the image. This was because she was so deeply missing her mother because that picture reminded her of everything she had lost.

In the midst of packing her suitcase, Yang Jiang was about to put the photo away in her suitcase. However, she heard a knock on the door of the hostel where she was staying. In the five months that have passed since her roommate left her hostel to return to her home, she has been living all alone.

Jiang Yang quickly grabbed her jacket and hurried to the door. 'I wonder who is at the door at this hour,' she could not help but murmur to herself. She reached for the doorknob and opened it for God knows who. "Hi. Liu Mei is my name, but I assume you know me as Mei, your Yang Jiang? We have been in the same class. We would like to extend an invitation to you to attend our farewell party since we have finished our semesters. Please be sure to join us. I hope to see you tomorrow night."

There was something about this that was so unexpected. During the five years that Yang Jiang spent at university, she had never been a part of celebrations or gatherings of any kind. This was with the exception of the time they held a run for disabled people. However, since she had already accepted the invitation, she figured she might as well participate.

Wen Lin...POV

I had just been back from Afhagnstam for a mission the day before yesterday and was at home, sleeping when my cousin called to tell me that they had a closing ceremony at their university and the sister of my best friend whom I have liked for so long since her teen years was also going to be there.

She probably doesn't even remember me. She was still in high school at the time I met her, and it was love at first sight for me. I remember joking with her elder brother that I would marry her only for her brother to laugh it off as a joke.

I woke up in a hurry and got into a shower. This was my chance to get to know her and for her to know me.
