That same world that had sought to constrain his progress so many times. It came hunting for him once more.

When he lowered his eyes, the horizon was black. The end of the valley that had only a few moments before been a long road of endless green was now tainted with a solid line of black.

Silverfish kicked the feet out from under the Commander's legs, and drove his sword through his chest, hooting in excitement. With it, the last major struggle of the battle had ended. It was only a handful of stragglers left, and they were put down with even more ease than the rest had. It afforded the soldiers the same opportunity as Vol to look around them, and they soon saw it too, a line of black right on the end of the horizon.
