Chapter Eight: Project

"So, what about the project?" Rina asked Karl as they walked side by side.

"We're doing it at your house tonight"

"Wait what? My house? What do you mean my house?" Rina stopped and asked facing Karl.

"Do you need a dictionary?" Karl asked

"I am not joking Karl, we are not doing it at my house" she stepped forward trying to be fierce.

Karl raised and eyebrow and stepped forward making Rina move backward one step and Karl moving forward again.

"Why can't we do it at your house?"

"I don't know, you're not coming to my house"

"I see you really want to get an F in your chemistry project"

"So do you"

Karl chuckled before speaking.

"I am coming to your house tonight, send me the address or we can go home together"

"No, no we won't"

"Alright then we will do it at my house today and then at your house tomorrow"

Rina hesitated before nodding.

"Shall we" Karl said gesturing.

Rina rolled her eyes and continued walking.

They walked to the cafeteria and unknowingly their eyes went straight to only one place and that's the table they sat yesterday.

Unfortunately five boys and two boys sat there already.

Karl not minding left to them as Rina followed him.

"What're you doing?"

"Going to sit down"

"You know they were there first"

"I know"

Karl came to them and banged his hand on the table as if it didn't take him much to do so as they all looked at him and Rina.

"Get up" he said monotoned

"And why should we huh?" A guy sitting on the table said.

Karl drifted his gaze to the guy on yellow shirt.

"Are you taking a piss?" Karl asked

"Mhm what you going to do?" He said

"Please get up" Rina said as they all looked at Rina.

"Oh so you're with him now, tell me, who are you?" The same guy on yellow asked Rina

"Bruno let's just go" the dark guy beside Bruno said.

"No Max I wanna see what he would do, Karl Jeffery Isn't it? Tell me why do you always have your way, I want to know" Bruno stood up and faced Karl.

"Tell me!" Bruno immediately held Karl's collar

"You scan droll!" Bruno shouted

Karl remained calm and looked at Bruno's hands on his white t-shirt.

"Don't touch me" Karl said looking at Bruno.

"Karl don't" Rina said.

"I said don't touch me" Karl spoke rudely this time.

"Go to hell" Bruno said punching Karl in the face as everyone watched them.

Karl was about to punch him back when someone came between them.

"Karl behave, let's go, c'mon" Davis said holding him back.

"Yeah get out!" Bruno said

Davis finally let go of Karl as Karl cleaned the blood off his lips.

Davis relaxed seeing Karl didn't go to fight back but within two second, Karl immediately went to Bruno and started punching him in the face.

"Hey Karl! That's enough!" He pushed Karl away from Bruno as max pushed Bruno away from Karl.

"Bitch!" Bruno said.

Karl glared at Bruno angrily as he slowly raised his middle finger up to Bruno and then left the cafeteria.

"I told you to leave, Bruno, you don't know who he is" max said

"Shut up and help get some ice blocks from the school nurse, I know him more than you know"

"Karl, Karl, Karl" Rina and Davis called out to Karl who walked quickly in the corridors.

"Karl!"

"What what what!" Karl said angrily

"Why did you do that?" Rina asked

"Why did I do that?" Karl asked coming forward to them.

"You want to know?"

"Karl they sat there first before, you didn't have to start a fight"

"No, I didn't start the fight I asked him to kindly get up but he insisted on fighting, so he got what he wanted"

"And what if the cook was around?" Davis asked

"How would I care?" Karl said and turned back and left.

"You don't have to worry Rina, he gets mad easily." Davis said and was about to leave when Rina stopped him.

"Um wait, we were supposed to meet at his home for our project, and am sure he wouldn't tell me the address at this state, so can you please?"

"Alright, give me your number I will send to you"

Rina nodded before giving Davis her phone.

"I heard Karl had a fight at the cafeteria" Flora said as her, Rina and Rider walked after school dismissed.

"Yeah, that's the first time seeing him so mad, it seems like he had been angry with that guy for ages"

"It's Bruno what do you expect?"Rider said

"What do you mean?"

"Karl and Bruno hate each other with so much passion"

"Why?" Rina asked

"I don't know"

Rina looked at her watch

"Oh god I have to be home, good bye guys"

Rina left immediately.

"Dude what was that?" Mg asked Karl who was leaning on his car at the school Garage.

"What was what exactly?" Gg asked confused

"Did you hear what happened at the cafeteria?" Mg asked

"Obviously no that's why I am asking" Gg said

"He had a fight with Bruno" Davis said plainly

"Oh...well that's less surprising" Gg said

"It's Bruno what do you expect of him?" Gg said

"Well at least he should have controlled himself" Mg scolded

Karl slowly looked Mg before putting his hands in his pockets and coming towards him standing close to him.

"What do you think? That I didn't control myself?" Karl asked calmly

"Shut up Karl, stop being riotous"

"What did you say?" Karl brought out his hands to punch him when Gg came between them.

"Alright Karl we do not want to witness another fight here"

"Oh you wanna fight me this time?" Mg asked

"Mg you are making matters worse" Davis said

"Let me, I don't care....."

Karl instantly pushed Gg aside and pinned Mg on the wall holding his collar.

"Am a quiet person Mg, don't turn me to the opposite, you would hate me" Karl said before leaving his collar.

"Karl I think I should drive you home at this state" Gg said

"Fuck off" Karl said entering his car and driving off.

"I am left speechless" Davis said and left.

Gg said nothing and just left.

The door bell rang as a woman opened the door.

"Umm good afternoon"

"Afternoon dear, how may I help you?"

"Is Karl around?"

"Karl? Who's Karl?"

"Umm,  I believe he lives here"

"There's no one by the name Karl loving here girl, you got the wrong house.

The woman immediately closed the door.

"Wh-wha-how dare she? She is so rude, unbelievably rude, pathetic" she said kicking the door.

"Get out from my door!" She heard the woman speak

"Ugh!"

"Cough cough" she hear someone say as she turned around and saw Karl.

"Oh Karl there you are, go In and tell that relative of yours, whoever she is to you, you better warn her to..."

"Rina"

"Hm?"

Karl looked at his right and pointed at a white duplex.

"That is my house" he said slowly and looked at her.

"And this?" She asked

"Not my house" he said.

"Ugh" she stomped her feet on the floor in embarrassment.

"Common" Karl smiled. She was so funny.

He led her to the house which was the neighbour of the old woman's house.

"This is your house?" Rina asked

"I just said that" Karl said ringing the door bell.

A woman at her thirties opened the door.

"Karl it's you" Janet smiled and opened the door widely for them to come in.

"Hi mom" he said going in, directly to the kitchen.

Rina slowly walked in before Janet closed the door behind.

"So who's this new friend of yours"

"Uhh we're just classmates, we are project partners. So I am here for it" Rina told Janet.

"What's your name again?" Janet asked

"Rina"

"Oh okay, make yourself at home, Karl treat your guest"

"Yes ma'am" Karl said from the kitchen.

Janet went upstairs.

"Your house is beautiful" Rina said looking around.

"I know" Karl said drinking a soda from the fridge.

"So, what do you have for me?" Rina walked to the kitchen.

"Nothing, just book and biro for us to do our project" Karl joked

"Nice one, but am serious" she walked to the refrigerator and collected the jar of orange juice.

"That's for my sis"

"Oh so you do have a sister" Rina dropped the jar and closed the fridge.

"I wish I had a brother instead"

"Are you kidding I wish I had a sister, my brother is way too annoying"

"For you"

Karl threw the soda can at the waste bin and went to the couch at the sitting room.

"So let's begin" Rina said sitting down beside him.

She opened her school bag and brought out her chemistry notes and textbooks and her phone.

"Don't you have a study room?" She asked him.

"If we have one, the room would be of no use"

"Why do you say so?"

"Who would actually use it in this house?"

Rina chuckled

"How bout study desk?"

"In my room"

"Cool let's go there then"

"Alright" Karl stood up and led her to the way.

She carried both her bag and his bag and books which was really heavy like five times heavier than hers.

Karl opened the door and they both met a girl laying on the bed, one of her leg stepping on the bed the other on the floor, laying on her back pressing her phone.

"Maya get up" Karl said

Maya didn't respond to what he had just said.

"Amaya" Karl said when maya looked at him.

"What?"

"Are you deaf or what? Get up"

"Ugh why are you home so early?" She said getting up.

"Karl is that who I think it is?" Maya walks to Rina who stood beside Karl.

"A girl?" She looked at Rina surprisingly

"Am I seeing clearly? Where are my Eyeglasses"

"Maya get out"  Karl said getting annoyed.

"Bro chill, I haven't seen you with any girl ever since, and I am the only girl who have ever come to your room and this...." maya smiled.

Rina really thought that maya was beautiful, she had short light brown straight hair reaching above her shoulders, and had brown eyes. She didn't put on makeup though she was beautiful. Actually she got her beauty from her mother.

"Hi i am Rina"

"Rina, ohhhh my god! You must be special" she hugged Rina who looked shocked and confused.

"Look If my brother ever trouble you just..."

"Alright alright" he covers her mouth and drags her out of the room and locks the door.

"Karl if you do the unthinkable I will tell mum!" She yelled behind the door.

"Fuck you!" Karl yelled back and sat down at the desk.

"Alright where were we?" He asked Rina who looked around the room.

"Please can you stop looking at my room that way"

"Am sorry, I admire your room"

"Yeah, my sister too, loves coming here all the time, I don't know why but....."

"Oh my God I love your bed"

"Don't sit on my bed without my permission" Karl said

"I love your bed, it's so comfy, now I see why your sister loves your room am getting to love it"

"See, your friend gets me!" They hear Amaya yell behind the door.

"For the last time Amaya get out! Or I will tell mom you snuck out last night"

"Fine go on and tell her, I will tell mum that you stole her atm card"

"That happened two weeks ago"

"It doesn't matter" maya kicked the door and left.

"Just like my brother" Rina smiled already tired of their bickering, she wondered if her mom felt this way whenever her and Mari quarrels.

"Trust me you don't want to say that" he said and wore his headphones turning his laptop on.
