chapter6 he saved her

Following his tail's direction, Scarlett hurried over to take another look. His tail was really long, about a dozen yards, tapering off and incredibly flexible, able to coil up anything at will. She believed his tail was as agile as a human hand.

But she still felt a bit creeped out by that winding, soft, slippery thing. She tried to steer clear of it as much as possible, to avoid touching it.

She kept busy all afternoon, and when she finally straightened up, her back was aching. Asher had been lounging around, flipping through TV channels and soaking up the sun on the deck chair.

After washing her hands, her dress was already pretty dirty. She glanced at the guy by the swimming pool and walked over to him. Standing beside him, she said, "Asher, downstairs is all cleaned up."

"Mhm," he replied, looking pretty satisfied.

Scarlett still stood beside him, nervously biting her lip.

Seeing that she hadn't left, Asher asked, "Is there anything else?"

"Um... Could I snag a change of clothes or two?" Scarlett hesitated for a moment. "Thanks."

Asher checked her out from top to bottom. "Go upstairs and find some. There are empty rooms, pick whichever you like."

"Thanks."

He shot her a sideways glance. "And while you're at it, clean up the rooms upstairs."

"Okay."

She headed upstairs, and one of the large bedroom doors was wide open. The room was simple yet luxurious, with a long plush carpet on the floor and a massive bed in the center. She still wasn't sure if the bed could accommodate Asher's long tail.

Scarlett didn't dare to just waltz into his room, so she headed to another one. None of the doors were locked, but some rooms were dustier, indicating they hadn't been cleaned in a while.

She stopped in a room with more decorations and opened the closet door, finding women's clothes inside, all high-end brands. Some still had tags on them. It seemed like a woman had lived in this room before, but Scarlett wasn't sure if it was after Asher moved in or before.

She cracked open the window for some fresh air. Outside was a garden bursting with roses, blooming in various colors, bathed in sunlight and emitting a fragrant aroma. She thought she might as well stay in this room.

Since this room was far from Asher's, she only needed to tidy it up a bit. She started cleaning her room, admiring the beautiful chandelier on the ceiling that emitted a soft light. She chose sky blue bedsheets and pink curtains, creating a cozy atmosphere. It was a great room, but ultimately not her own.

After cleaning her room, it was already late, so she quickly changed clothes and prepared dinner. She could clean the rest of the house tomorrow. Cooking dinner for Asher was important; perhaps one of the main reasons she was allowed to stay was because there was no one to cook for him.

Deciding what to cook each day was a bit of a headache, as she wanted to satisfy him as much as possible, but fortunately, Asher wasn't picky.

The next morning, she continued her duties as a diligent housekeeper. There were many rooms upstairs, and despite being unoccupied, she cleaned them diligently. Asher had made it clear that this was his territory, and she was essentially a servant here, so she didn't have the luxury of being picky.

She wrung out the cloth and stood on the second-floor windowsill, carefully wiping the glass to make it shine like crystal.

The outer windows were a bit tricky, so she crossed the window ledge, holding onto the window frame and standing on the narrow outer ledge to wipe them carefully. She wanted her work to be perfect and satisfy him.

Meanwhile, Asher was still by the pool, seeming to enjoy the place, reading a book. Scarlett could see his profile from where she stood, handsome and gentle.

Suddenly, a stern voice interrupted her thoughts. "What are you doing up there?"

The sudden voice startled her, causing her to tremble and let go of the window she was holding onto, slipping backward.

"Ah..." she cried out as she began to fall backward.

In an instant, a soft tail wrapped around her waist, spinning her around, revealing that it was Asher who had swiftly acted, leaping forward and catching her with his long, snake-like tail as she began to slip.

The soft tail curled around her, gently placing her back on the ground before slowly retracting.

Scarlett, still shaken, stood there with a pale face and a pounding heart, staring blankly ahead. She watched as his tail slowly retracted, and with a trembling voice, she said, "Thank you."

Only then did she realize that it was his tail that had caught her. A shiver ran down her spine as she felt the cool, slippery sensation where his tail had touched her, sending a tingling sensation through her body. But he had saved her after all, so he didn't seem so terrifying.

She turned her head and saw a strange man standing outside the garden, twenty-seven years old, with a crew cut, tall and muscular, furrowing his brows slightly, his eyes filled with confusion, with a portion of a tattoo visible on his right arm. She looked at him with a hint of indignation, realizing he had almost caused her to become paralyzed, but then thought better of it. These people weren't to be messed with, so she withdrew her gaze.

"What are you doing here?" Asher asked coldly from a distance.

Jack's heart skipped a beat. No matter how many times he had seen Asher, he still couldn't help but feel uneasy when faced with that long tail, especially after seeing him move so quickly like a flash of light, adding a touch of fear. This creature, neither human nor monster, actually existed in the world. If he displeased him, he could be turned into minced meat in an instant.

Taking a deep breath, Jack forced himself to remain calm. "I came as usual to see if there's anything that needs to be done."

He felt a chill of fear and resentment in his heart. He was a graduate of a prestigious university and had followed the big boss through life and death for several years, but because of trust, he was assigned such a lowly task. Although the island had a pleasant climate, beautiful scenery, and decent income, every time he saw this monster, he felt like his life was hanging by a thread. With a knife at his neck, it was really uncomfortable.

"Nothing for you to do," Asher said coldly.

Indeed, there was nothing for him to do. Jack had seen the woman who had been brought here a few days ago still around, looking spirited. He had actually come in to see if she had died yet. It had been several days and she hadn't been thrown out yet, which made him suspicious.

Jack asked nervously, "Should I go back first? Do you need anything else?"

"No," Asher said indifferently, but with a heavier tone. "And don't just come in here whenever you feel like it."

"If you need anything, just call me. I won't come in without your permission again." Jack immediately nodded and left in relief.

Asher turned to Scarlett, "You don't need to clean the outside windows. Just tidy up inside."

Scarlett snapped out of her daze, feeling a sense of familiarity from the man just now. She remembered he was the one who brought her here, which made her feel uneasy again. She looked up at Asher and said softly, "Thank you for earlier."

"No need to thank me. Who will cook if you get hurt?" Asher's lips tightened, his voice low.

"Oh, then I'll go back to work." Scarlett lowered her eyes, appearing respectful, and moved into the house.

Asher's bedroom door wasn't locked. During lunch, he asked Scarlett to tidy up a bit, so Scarlett entered his room. The room was spacious and bright, with simple furnishings. She opened the closet door and found many clothes neatly hung inside.

She took a look, and there were mostly formal clothes, all from international top brands, with several sets of suits made of good-quality materials. It seemed that they were quite expensive. She stared at those pants in a daze, wondering how Asher would wear them. She had never seen him wear clothes before; he usually walked around shirtless, with his tail swaying as he roamed the villa.

Perhaps these clothes were prepared for someone else, she guessed.

More attractive than the clothes was a desktop computer in the corner. As she wiped it with a cloth, her eyes lit up. She hadn't seen a phone for a few days. If she could access the internet, she could ask for help from the outside world, send a message to her parents or old friends, and let them know about her situation. Maybe rescue would come faster, and she might even find out where she was.

She stared at the black screen blankly, then smiled bitterly. Not to mention whether Asher would allow her to open the computer, even if she sent out a distress signal, it was possible that help wouldn't arrive until after she was discovered. Judging by the actions of these people, her fate would be very tragic.

She suddenly remembered something. Did this villa have a surveillance system? With such an odd creature living here alone, the people outside must be very interested in his life. If that were the case, there might be hidden cameras all over the villa. The thought made her feel like she had been pricked by a needle, so she quickly moved her hand away from the computer and pretended to clean other areas.

Someone had just come this morning, and their power was too strong. Scarlett didn't know what they wouldn't dare to do in this world, and she was afraid that if she contacted her family, not only would she not be able to save herself, but she would also bring trouble to her family.

Thinking of her family made her heart ache dullly. But now wasn't the time to be sad; she had to do her best to do her duty and serve him to ensure her own safety.

The warm sun was shining outside, and it would be nice to have some drinks in the afternoon. Scarlett stayed in the kitchen, took out some plump almonds from a jar, and ground them into powder. Scarlett wasn't good at cooking a variety of dishes. Most recent graduates were not good at distinguishing between grains and were not diligent in their studies. She could only cook a few home-cooked dishes, which her mother forced her to learn. She had to admire her mother's foresight; her half-baked culinary skills really came in handy now.

She had made a papaya milk almond paste before, because it was a good dessert for moisturizing the skin, so she had made it several times. It tasted great, so she thought Asher might like it.

She poured milk into the pot, added the ground almond powder, and stirred while cooking. After cooling, she added sugar and diced papaya, then put it in the refrigerator for ten minutes.
