36 Chapter 36 Drugged

Mellisa and Maxwell hopped in the car and drove off, and the ride was eerily quiet. Maxwell had a lot he wanted to say to Mellisa, but he chose to stay silent, not wanting to give the impression that he actually cared. On the other hand, Mellisa wanted to apologize to Maxwell, but his unreadable expression made her think twice, remembering how cold he had been to Zick just a few days ago. Before they knew it, they had arrived at HOME AFFAIRS to register for their wedding and they finished in no time and they were now on their way back home. It was all so abrupt and quick, leaving Maxwell and Mellisa in uncomfortable silence.

Maxwell quickly pulled up in front of his house and opened the door for Mellisa. As they walked inside, Maxwell's expression changed when he heard Tina's voice coming from the sitting room. He felt a sense of dread as he entered the room with Mellisa following behind him. His eyes turned cold when he saw that it was indeed Tina with a woman he didn't recognize. He assumed it must have been Mellisa's client.

"Hie My love," Tina said, rising off the chair with a seductive smile on her lips. "I'm glad you came sooner. Your client was waiting for you all along."

Maxwell's displeasure was clear on his face as he looked at Tina. He couldn't believe she had the guts to come into his house again and again after everything she had done.

Pathy Perry, the woman sitting next to Tina, rose from her chair with a sense of relief that the person she had been waiting for had finally arrived. She was feeling annoyed with Tina's attitude and the way she was behaving.

 Melissa stepped closer

with a warm smile and said, "Hello, I'm Melissa. You're here to talk about your wedding dress, right?"

"Yes, I'm Pathy Perry. Nice to meet you," the woman introduced herself.

Tina's eyes widened in shock. She had seen Melissa's dresses on social media and had been impressed, but to think that even celebrities like Pathy Perry wanted her to make their wedding dress was beyond her comprehension. It made her realize that while she was busy looking for a rich husband to secure her future, a younger girl was already taking steps to ensure her own. Clearly, Tina was not pleased with the situation.

"Nice to meet you too. I'm Mellisa Williams. " Melissa said, " Come on, let's go to my sewing room, we can talk about everything there. "

" Okay dear, you can lead the way. "

Both Mellisa and Pathy left the sitting room leaving Tina and Maxwell alone.

"What brings you here?" Maxwell asked coldly, snapping Tina out of her daze. Realizing that she was lost, she pulled herself together and said, "I'm here to stay." Tina smirked. "Remember when we divorced, we agreed that half of this house would be mine? Rather than selling it, I've decided to come and stay here."

Maxwell sighed disapprovingly. "Tina, we both know why you came here, so don't play me for a fool. I just got married, and your plan to win my heart back will never succeed. My love for you died the day you cheated on me and the day you lied about me being infertile. If you still have some respect left in you, you will leave me alone. But unfortunately, I won't be surprised if you don't leave right now.

Tina's mouth dropped open in shock, her heart racing. How did Maxwell find out the truth about his infertility issue? Did the doctor actually tell him that she had taken family planning pills to prevent pregnancy and that he told him that couldn't have children? No, that couldn't be - the doctor had died a year ago. Then how did he discover the truth? Could it be that Mellisa was pregnant with his child? Tina's eyes widened in disbelief as the realization hit her hard. It was a terrible thought and Tina felt a deep sense of dissatisfaction that Maxwell may have found out this way. Her hatred for Mellisa increased even more.

Tina glared at Maxwell and said firmly, "It's good that you know that I'm not going to leave here. If you can't be mine then no one else will have you, better keep that in mind." Her voice was full of warning and her expression was stern.

Maxwell met her gaze and replied in a cold voice, "Do as you, please. But if you dare lay a finger on Mellisa then I will cut off your head and feed it to the crocodiles and you know very well that I don't give empty threats. I'm a man of his word and if you know what's good for you, stay away from Mellissa." With that, he walked past Tina and headed to his room, leaving her with a lingering feeling of dread.

" I'm not scared of you Maxwell, tonight you are going to be mine once again, I was foolish not to carry your child before but now I've realized my mistake and I'm going to rectify that mistake. " Tina murmured

Mellisa had finished discussing with Pathy what kind of dress she wanted, taking her measurements and all the other necessary preparations. Once everything was done, Pathy left the William mansion, the day coming to a close as everyone had already gathered for dinner.

"Dad, congratulations on your wedding! We wish we could have been there to celebrate with you, but tomorrow we are going to have a big party for you guys," Shina said with a smirk, as Tina scowled. Linda quickly interjected, "You are right Shina, but uninvited guests are not welcome. Only family should be present." She glared at Tina as if she would do something to her if given the chance.

Michelle smiled and said, "Congratulations, Mellisa and Maxwell. I wish you a happy married life." Mellisa smiled, too tired to even feed herself, and thanked them for their kind words.

" We shall see how far this so-called marriage goes. Tina said, rising off the chair, she could not watch all this nonsense wasting her time, she wanted to start her moves very soon and get rid of Mellisa, the sooner the better.

" If you want to die at a young age then mix jealousy and being competitive, you will die even if the doctors won't know what killed you. " Shina said loudly, making sure that Tina heard her.

Mellisa rose off the chair, her face showing an obvious gripe. "Good night guys," she said tiredly, "I'm going to sleep."

Maxwell interjected, his voice stern. "Don't forget to take your medicine," he said, "I'm not doing this for you but for my babies." With a heavy sigh, Mellisa trudged upstairs to her room, too exhausted to say anything else.

Michelle looked at him with raised eyebrows. "What was that about?" she asked.

Maxwell shrugged his shoulders. "Melissa is too stubborn to understand my point of view," he said. "This guilt I'm making her feel is the only thing that will lead me to her heart."

"Don't overdo it, Dad," Shina said, concerned for Melissa. "She looked sad just now."

"Yes, Dad," Linda chimed in. "You should not make her this sad."

"Okay, I heard you guys," Maxwell said, rising from the chair. "I'm off to bed now. Good night." He headed upstairs to his room.

As Maxwell trudged up the stairs, he started to feel a wave of dizziness wash over him, and his head began to spin as if he was about to fall. "Shit, that bitch drugged me," Maxwell thought to himself. "What should I do now? She must be in my room at the moment." Maxwell cursed silently in his head as he tried to think of a plan while he could still control himself.
