1 Chapter 1 - My Bodyguard

Isana knew the second, the knife grazed her throat and a warm liquid slowed tricked down, that her end was near.

"I've told you many times, Dad." Isana said, through her phone. She was tired of repeating the same thing again and again to a person who just reuses to understand her.

"And I've told you many times too, that-" She knew what her Dad was going to say.

"Argh!" She pulled off her earphones and switched off her phone. She laid back on her bed and sighed. "Why did this have to happen to me?" She was whining. It was just one of her many methods to de-stress, which she happened to use a lot more than the others. Well, it wasn't like anyone would hear her out.

When she switched her phone back on, she saw a lot of miscalls from her dad. "Like I care." She muttered away. Her phone then buzzed with another call as her ringtone, a sweet chirping melody, rang out. The name display showed 'Ten-ten the fool'. Isana gave a small smile as she answered the call.

"Where are you?" Arten asked. She was her childhood friend and they had never kept secrets between them, until now, which resulted in Isana getting called.

"You know I can't get you involved in this, Ten-ten."

"Isa. Please. You know you can't do everything on your own." Arten was worried.

"I know." Isa squirmed back into her bed. She felt uncomfortable.

"Then let us help you." A deeper voice said. Isana rolled her eyes. The person who just now spoke was Arten's boyfriend, Elio. Elio was also her childhood friend but she didn't like getting ordered around by him.

"Why did you put it on speaker?" She groaned. "Elio's worried too, you know?"

"Yes. Yes. I know." She said. She got out of her bed again and paced around the room. She had ran away to one of the summerhouses she had gotten as a gift for her excellence in her academy. Her parents hadn't know about it since she used her own influence to make it under her own name. They were never interested in what she did and it actually helped this time. To think, she used to try so hard to pry away their attention to herself.

She hadn't told her friends either because she didn't want to complicate things, unnecessarily. It out for the better, anyway.

The summer house wasn't huge like her family's other ones but it suited her. She never liked a lot of space either. There was a spacious bedroom and a smaller guest room, a smaller living room and a open dining table, between the kitchen and the living room. The bathroom was spacious and that was Isana's favourite part. She really liked it there. The main road wasn't far away and there were shops were she could buy things from. It was a perfect place to get away from all her worries and problems.

But, even she knew, that it was all temporary.

The call had gotten quiet but she could here them whispering in the background. Suddenly, the bell rang and Isana jumped. She was surprised and a little scared. Who was it that rang the bell?

"Hey. Someone rang the bell here. I got to go. I'll call you back later." Before they could say another word, she cut the call. She went towards the main door. And looked through the peephole. Everything was black. Someone was covering the peephole. Isana quickly and quietly shifted across the living room and arched her neck, trying to see who it was. But she couldn't see properly.

The bell rang again and he heart sped up. She grabbed her phone. her purse, and her car keys, shoved in a few changes of clothes, her phone charger, and some important documents she had brought along into her bag. The stranger started knocking the door as well as ringing the bell.

This wasn't a very scary experience because once she had to run away from bandits who were aiming to kidnap her for ransom. But for some reason this felt more dangerous.

"Coming!" She shouted from the bathroom as a diversion and all the knocking and ringing stopped. She quietly walked into kitchen and opened the back door without any noise. Her car was parked in the garage which was at the back of the house. She opened the door of her car and before she knew she was on the ground. A knife at her throat.

It cut through her soft skin and blood trickled down. She knew that if she moved she would die. She stared at her attacker. A sad face hung upon him. His hair fell upon his face. It was a beautiful shade of pink. He kept her down and didn't say anything as he held the knife. Isana smiled. She felt it would be fine to die by the hands of such a handsome man.

"Can you...can you tell me who I am?" The man asked. He seemed truly confused.

Isana stared, blankly. She didn't understand. She was literally bewildered. But it didn't stop her from answering quickly.

"Yeah." She was in dire need of someone like him and he had appeared out of nowhere. The gods were answering her never-said prayers.

"You're my bodyguard."

He quickly stepped off of her and helped her up. "I'm really really sorry." He bowed his head down and Isana smirked. Things were working in her favour.

"Let's talk inside. I'll tell you everything I know, truthfully. But first, give me the knife." Isana took away his knife and quickly disinfected her wound first.

After they sat down on a sofa, in the living room, Isana broke the silence first. "You see, I had hired a bodyguard. And today, was your starting day but since I heard no news of you coming, I thought the person who was knocking and ringing the bell was after me and tried to run away. So, to tell you the truth, I know lesser about you than you do yourself." Isana had just twisted the truth and because she hadn't completely lied, the man believed her easily.

"All I know is my name. Rhydian Diara." Rhydian said. Isana stared at him. She had no idea if he was telling the truth or not. That's why she was taking a risk, right now, by believing that he was truly amnesiac.

"I...I believe you." Isana brought herself to say it and Rhydian glowed. He was truly happy to hear that some one believed him. "But why bell and knock so many times when you could have just broken in?"

"I...I was trying to be polite. But then I heard someone escape and I thought it really was the person, who did something to me, and was, now, running away. But turned out, you were my employee. But, now, since I don't remember, don't try to take advantage of me please and just name the terms we had agreed on. I'm sure you must have the papers we signed our contract on."

"Oh, I don't have those. You did have though. And obviously I won't take advantage."

"I had the contract? Oh. I see." Rhydian looked around slowly. "You live alone?"

"Yeah. There are currently people after me so I'm on the run. If your curious about my parents, they're the chairmen of the company Prism. It's a rising company."

"If they're rich, why don't you stay with your parents?"

"Because they want me to get married and are forcing me into it. And hey, I'm rich too. I'm the CE- Wait. Now that I think about it, isn't this perfect?" Isana stood up and held Rhydian's hands. His face turned crimson.

"Wh-what's perfect?" He stuttered, shifting his gaze away from hers.

"Your my bodyguard in private, but my lover in public. And with that face you have who's going to-" Isana's voice died down as she looked at Rhydian.

He had gone completely red. His ears and his nape. Everything. And he just stared at Isana who was now staring back at him.

"Wha...What are you saying!" He threw a pillow, which was on the sofa, at her. Isana began to laugh as she caught the pillow.

"You...You're too much. At the least...I didn't say the opposite." Isana quickly leaned in and whispered in his ears. "Bodyguard in public and lovers in-" Rhydian quickly covered her mouth. He shook his head, begging her not to go any further through his eyes. Isana smiled against his fingers and he felt her soft lips brush against his fingers. Something burned in him and he put his arms around her.

Isana was startled. She didn't expect the shy guy to be like this.

"Even I'm a man." He growled softly. Isana was pleasantly surprised.

"Is that so?" She leaned in closer and her face was right in front of his.

Rhydian quickly came to his senses and pushed her away. "St-Stop provoking me." He got up and walked into the washroom. The corners of Isana's mouth twitched as she put her fingers on her lips.

Ah! Life was going to be more interesting from this point onwards. She finally found something she wanted to look forward to.
