5 Chapter 5: Outside world

Chapter 5 Outside world

Eri was already on his feet preparing to take his leave from the store. So much time had been spent here and he attained a load of bad memories.

'The worst part of all this is I can't even look in the mirror anymore.'

Eri paced to each shelf picking out of it special snacks he would like to take along the way.

It felt uncomfortable seeing, Why? Because two other eyes had formed below his eyes making him look less human and like a beast.

After a long while of wondering how people would look at him he formed a gesture that he didn't care.

'Luckily I can close the other two eyes and it would just look like scars or tribal marks.'

Eri closed his newly gained eyes and shyly gazed at the last standing mirror left in all the store (the window). Now he looked a bit of his former self, and something told him this was merely the beginning of his evolution from being human.

In the meantime he stopped his packing with a half filled bag to check on his smartphone.

'One percent!'

Eri cringed at the fact of his phone being this low, for the past few days he had no time to check his phone because of the constant attacks. The only thing he did with his phone was call his sister but it never went through.

As Eri ran his eyes through the screen of the phone he found his breath shudder.

'So much missed calls from my sister, my crush and my only friend. I also recieved a lot of text from them. Damn why was I so passive to pick up my phone?'

Eri blamed himself knowing very well the reason he abandoned his phone. The moment he placed a call the entire streets began swarming with zombies and a lot of mutant, guessing they were drawed to the frequency of calls or phones so he had to take contingency plans.

"This sucks," Eri had already read through most of his sister's text in such little time.

He learned she abandoned the house with a boy and three other friends after the mutation rain and headed to a safe zone called Rika Subway station. But what confused Eri the most was, there was no such place as Rika Subway station or Rika itself.

Coming up to the next few text she elaborated on how Rika was a Scenario in the games and had suddenly appeared in the city, filling him up on what was going and the second World announcement.

'The second World Announcement explains the alien hostile take over a bit, Scenario as suspected is like the games and the reward of listening completely to this announcement was a tech upgrade? To hell I know what that means or care.'

Wow the lines of text were already coming to a wrap. The last one entailed her saying farewell and a heart felt speech.

'If you are still alive, survive and I am sorry I love you Big brother Eri.' Eri almost shed a tear but toughened his expression and spoke "no sister of mine would die in his doomed world."

He went to the next message, just one from his best friend Kyle, it was pretty short and entailed one main text apart from the formalities, "met me at the arcade store we love, within three days."

If he was luckily still alive by then?

Eri scrolled to the next message but unfortunately something else caught his mind.

[You have refused to join the Scenario]

[Punishment: You have been laced with Mutant Lure, prepare]

[Prepare for endless barrage]

'Just who or what the hell designed this system?'

Eri rose to his feet immediately tucking his phone into his pocket and staring outside as he heard distant rumblings edging closer.

'Man this sucks.'
