32 Like A Bubble

Yang Mi stood on a corner as she stared blankly at the distance. From beside her, Death watched the group of people in the corridor.

"Do you regret it?" His magnetic voice asked.

Yang Mi raised her eyebrows. Did she regret it? Did she regret ever saving Kaisar? Or did she regret ever meeting him?

There's a lot of things that she could say she regretted if she was a petty person. But she was able to feel something for Kaisar which was a mistake on her part. A ghost must not feel any longing or feelings towards the living.

"I don't regret anything. He deserved the life he had and will have from now on." She heard herself saying this to the man beside her. She didn't know if he could notice the fact that she forced it out or not, but to hell with it!

"I still won't forgive anyone from above there for messing around with me." She suddenly said, the force and intensity her voice had almost shook the ground.

Narrowing her eyes, she glared at the sky and vowed to make whoever put this damn system to her body and made her human again pay for the time she wasted.

Stepping forward, Yang Mi was about to walk away when she suddenly paused. Turning her head, she asked, "What are you doing? Aren't you going to guide the way?"

Death blinked his eyes. Amusement and mirth appeared in it. He was momentarily blinded and in awe of her unique aura that even the angels and all other beings wondered how could a human who was once looked down upon by her fellow humans and tortured mentally and physically become a supreme being? A unique being that no one dared to underestimate?

When he first met Yang Mi, she had just crossed the Edge, the portal between the Living realm and the Departed. With all the blood splattered to her clothes and face, grime stuck in her nails, and bloodshot eyes, you would assume that she was an unknowing victim who was coincidentally in the crime scene and died. But the truth was... The blood and grime did not come from her own, in came from the people whom she had taken along with her in the Afterlife.

Snapping out of his memory lane, Death chuckled as he slowly and lazily approached her.

"Now, everyone else would think I serve under you with how you're ordering me around." He said.

"Be glad then, you get to serve two masters. Not everyone up there can do that." Yang Mi replied with a cheeky smile.

*Cough!*

Death almost missed a step after her words had just landed. He glared at her and wondered how could a former human be so fearless and unconcerned of oneself when talking about their Master?

"Are you coming or not?" Yang Mi's irritated voice was once again heard.

"Yes, yes, I'll lead you there now." Death quickly said, unknowingly acting the servant role he never wanted.

...

Inside the corridor, Aunt Wu was still panicking after finding out that Yang Mi, the young lady who has been chasing after their young master has disappeared.

"Madam, that young lady was the one I've been talking about in our Wechat! The girl who was able to get close to our young master. Where could she have gone?" Aunt Wu held her restless hands as she spoke. "We need to find her!"

Madam Chu furrowed her eyebrows. Of course, she knew who Aunt Wu was talking about. It was just that it has been an hour and they haven't found the young lady she was talking about. It was as if she disappeared completely before their eyes without a trace.

As much as Madam Chu did not want to worry about anyone else other than her son, this was the young lady who was able to live in the same roof as their obstinate and woman-hating son of hers. Thus, Yang Mi's value somehow increased in her eyes.

Turning towards her nephew, Madam Chu asked, "Have you checked the Surveillance Room? Did they find the girl Aunt Wu is talking about?"

Killian Chu shook his head, "I already showed Aunt Wu the copies of the CCTV around this area but there was no trace of her." Turning to Aunt Wu, he asked her instead. "Are you sure she came here with you?"

The recordings that they were able to get a copy of showed that Aunt Wu arrived to the hospital alone. There was no sign of her being with someone albeit occasionally, the old maid would stand in a corner and blankly stare at what's in front of her. But it wasn't enough to prove that Aunt Wu was with someone.

On the contrary, even the people in the Surveillance Room doubted that the old lady was thinking right. She might be having hallucinations due to her age or perhaps, she was daydreaming.

But Aunt Wu quickly shook her head in protest. She knew what she saw and experienced! She was definitely with the young lady when they went to the hospital.

"How could that be possible?" She whispered in disbelief. Aunt Wu already saw the footage, but even until now, she refused to believe that Yang Mi was just a trace of her hallucinations.

The young master!

Aunt Wu quickly whipped her head to look at the direction where the intensive care unit was located.

Young master Kaisar would surely know Miss Yang!

Gripping to that hope that Kaisar still remembered and knew Yang Mi, Aunt Wu prayed to every God who was listening to her right now to quicken his recovery so that Yang Mi's existence wouldn't be forgotten and remembered.

Even though, Miss Yang was no longer here and disappeared somewhere... Aunt Wu was still holding on the chances that she would return to them somehow.

But her hopeful thinking will surely happen in the future. However, things might or might not be completely different.
