18 Beg For Food

By the time Yang Mi woke up again, the moon was already high up in the sky. The temperature in the room was slightly lower than she liked.

Shivering while tucked into the blankets, Yang Mi forced her eyes open. She looked around her and saw that no one was around her.

The empty room slightly surprised her as she expected the detective to stay with her until she wakes up.

But then again, no one would stay to look after a stranger.

Thinking like this, Yang Mi tried to stand up once again.

The first and second try was still the same as it was in the morning. Her knees kept on buckling as she tried to put her strength in it but after the third try, she could finally stand up on her own.

It didn't take her long enough to walk. She took her steps slowly, using the walls as a support for her to not fall to the floor.

This time, she didn't feel the uncomfortable feeling below her stomach but the gurgling sound coming from her stomach was another story.

There didn't seem to be something for her to eat inside the room. Thus, she made her way outside to look for a nurse and ask them for food.

Like a beggar, she crept through the corridors that were now empty. She still hasn't seen any nurse that could help her but she didn't give up.

She continued to walk and stopped only after she saw a glimpse of a walking nurse from the other side of the hallway. She instantly smiled and waved at the nurse who looked at her with a strange expression on her face.

The nurse slowly walked towards her and when a few feet separated them, Yang Mi said, "Nurse! I'm hungry! Can you get me something to eat?"

The nurse blinked her eyes at her and said, "Where's your room? Go back there for now. The rations for patients was already given earlier this evening. So, I can't give you anything."

To be honest, the giving of meals to the patient was indeed done. The evening meal given to the patients starts from 6 pm to 7:30 pm. However, there was still some food left for the patients that were advised by the doctor to eat at a certain time.

Hence, there wasn't any reason for her to reject Yang Mi. It was just that the nurse was not feeling good. She's been taking care of the patients assigned to her. Washing their bodies and assisting the doctors in the hospital was just too tiring.

And that's why she couldn't care less if a patient ends up starving for a night. She wanted to catch her sleep and retire for the night.

Ignoring Yang Mi, the nurse walked past her. However, just after she took a step past her, Yang Mi reached her hand out and stopped her by the shoulder.

"Miss Nurse. I'm hungry." Yang Mi repeated her words but harshly. "Go and get me something to eat."

Not liking the way Yang Mi's tone, the nurse frowned and got more irritated. She flung away the hand that was on her shoulder and said, "Go ahead and get your own then! You might be a patient but starving a day or two shouldn't be a problem! Or better just yet, die so there can be less patient and burden to your family!"

The young lady who stopped her because she was hungry didn't flinch at her words. Instead, she smiled.

Yang Mi silently stared at the hand that the nurse flung away. A smile was on her lips as she tried to imagine using her spiritual power to make the nurse jump down the building as punishment for acting rudely towards her.

Unfortunately, along with her turning into a human, her spiritual power also disappeared.

Hence, she couldn't do anything against the nurse.

But that doesn't mean she couldn't do something else to her.

Still smiling, Yang Mi's hand closed in towards the nurse. She was aiming the jaws of the nurse and grab it before slapping her filthy mouth.

However, just as when she was about to lay her hands on the nurse, she saw a person standing at the other end of the hallway in front of her. Thus, Yang Mi gladly let her hands go.

"Hmph! Patients like you should just never come back here!" The nurse turned around and wanted to resume her steps when she was startled at the person at the other end of the hallway.

She abruptly stopped moving and her hands almost flew to her mouth so she could cover it.

"Doctor Lu He Yan!" The nurse alarmingly called his name out. She didn't expect him to come here.

Although they were around the VIP area, Lu He Yan rarely wanders around here at night. Besides, she didn't assume that the young lady whom she had just berated was a VIP because no patient like them would be wandering around, asking for food.

Lu He Yan originally wanted to check on Yang Mi's condition after Kaisar messaged him to do so. But he didn't think that a nurse would be so rude in treating patients.

There was always a time for any medical staff to blew some of their tempers but not in front of a patient. This conduct of hers was definitely punishable by law and could even be forced to resign.

He walked towards them and stood in front of the two ladies. He briefly looked at the ID of the nurse pinned on her uniform and memorized it so he couldn't forget who to fire.

The nurse clearly disrespected a patient but not only that. She also told the girl whom his best friend saved to die.

Wouldn't that make Kaisar's effort to save her go to waste if she really ended up dying?

"You should go back to your station." He told the nurse who was relieved to hear that he didn't scold her but her glee didn't last long as he continued, "Then, write a resignation letter and pack up your things. Nurses who rudely treat the patients in this hospital should leave."
