8 Another Mission

Phew!

A while later, he finished reading it because there wasn't much information and let out a deep breath.

'So, I really didn't die on the earth. The system just brought here a part of my soul and consciousness for unknown reasons.'

'Now that the soul link has been established, I'm allowed to log out once per day and return to my main body on the earth and it's up to me when I want to log back in and for how much time.' He mused.

Then he became excited,

'If I become strong here, I'll get stronger on earth, too. Just the process will be slow since my body would need proper conditioning. Besides, I would be able to use a part of my Spirit Qi on the earth once I attain the sky realm here.'

The prospect of living two lives in different worlds excited him to no end.

'However, I can't die here. Once I die, I will die on the earth too.' He thought, feeling apprehensive.

Just like everyone else, he didn't want to die. The only reason he readily accepted his 'death' on the earth previously was because he got a new life here and his life there wasn't worth being sad about.

But now things were different. He now had a chance to not only enjoy his life in this cultivation world but also to better his shitty life on the earth. Also, because he knew if he died, it would be a permanent death. There would be no second chances.

Ha!

Taking a deep breath, he thought, 'There is not much of a danger to my life on the earth, especially after I become stronger.'

'However, things are going to be tricky here. Not only would I have to face dangers of the outside world, I would have to be wary of the people of my family too. Who knows the people who tried to kill me would do next since I returned 'alive' this time?'

While he was thinking about how he should go about in the future, suddenly a system prompt appeared in front of him.

[Mission: Reach level 51 (Sky realm).]

- Time limit: 30 days.

- Reward: Ability to take out and use the cultivation world's items stored in the inventory in your primary world.

- 90% Risk of death of upon failure.

"The fuck!" He couldn't help but exclaim out loud when he saw the mission.

"Level 51 in thirty 30 days? And I'm practically sure to die if I can't do it? Are you serious?"

Although he didn't know about this world's cultivation system and exactly how much time one would need to reach the 'sky realm', he was sure it wasn't as short as 30 days.

Why?

Because even though he couldn't see his sister's and mother's information, he—for some reason—could feel they had yet to surpass level 50. And they must have cultivated for years now, especially his mother.

However, the system was silent as usual and he had started suspecting that it wasn't a sentient system like in the fantasy novels.

'Ha! Calm down! There is no use becoming agitated.' He said to himself, quickly calming down.

'Let's see. I can become stronger by cultivating like everyone else and, given how influential my family is, they sure to have cultivation techniques to do that. Besides that, I should be able to level up by killing beasts etc to gain exp—no Spirit Qi—like in the games.'

'However, I'm not strong enough to go out in the wild alone to hunt beasts. So, either I could ask mother to accompany me and help me kill them, or I can first acquire a cultivation technique and gain enough strength to hunt them myself.'

Just then, Evie's jovial voice sounded from outside.

"Young master, dinner is ready. Please come out."

"Coming." He responded before getting down the bed and walking out of the room.

When Evie saw him, her cheeks reddened, confusing him. She then smiled at him. "Follow me, young master."

As Arthur walked behind her, he noticed her walking style had changed. Her hips were swaying a little more than before. It was as if she was trying to enchant him.

Despite feeling confused, he didn't say anything and just enjoyed the view. He also hoped her dress wasn't so baggy, covering her figure completely.

They arrived in the dining hall, where Grace and Victoria were waiting for him.

When they saw him, both smiled and Grace pulled a chair beside hers and pointed at it.

"Come, Arthur, sit beside me."

To this, Victoria pouted, "That's not fair, mother. Let big brother sit beside me. I am here for just a few days, so let me accompany my big brother to my heart's content."

Curious, Arthur asked, "Um, Vic. You are going somewhere?"

Hearing him ask this, she smiled and nodded, "Yes, big brother. I'm going back to the sect I've joined in a few days."

"Oh, so you are in a sect?" He said, walking over to her and taking a seat beside her.

He then looked at Grace with an apologetic look but she just smiled, "It's alright. After she goes away, I'll have you all for myself."

She winked at Victoria as she said the last part.

"Humph! I'll be back soon to spend more time with big brother." Victoria pouted.

The mother and daughter threw a few remarks at each other before they started having dinner. They also didn't forget to tell him about the happy times they had spent together.

Arthur, however, noticed that these memories were very few, a proof of the fact that their lives weren't as happy as they showed. However, this also made his heart warm because this clearly showed how much they loved and cared for him.

After they finished having dinner—which Arthur enjoyed a lot because the food was otherworldly, easily beating five-star hotels' food—they moved over to the living room, which was basically a big hall.

Then Arthur asked, which was important to him.

"Mother, I want to know about our family, this world, and how you were able to run so fast."
