"What?" I asked in disbelief, and I felt my entire body tremble because of the mixed emotions that I felt.

"Yes, Ben, Lisa's dad died early this morning," Maya said when I opened my bedroom door for her. She was peeking her head to look inside my room, and I opened it wide so she could see that I was alone; and I motioned her to get inside, but I left the door slightly opened.

I still remember the first time Maya found Tanya on my bed, and I know my sister was horrified that day because she was still hoping that Lisa would come back to San Antonio. And even if how much I love her best friend, after weighing it over, I realized I needed to move on with my life because, for almost one year, I never stopped looking and hoping I would find Lisa.
