the attack (2)

Three women sat back on the comfiest leather couch and stared at a screen as large as those people saw at cinemas whilst laughing at the sights. "I wonder how Dad will react to our attacks." Eliza commented as she stared at the lines of their people around their crime bases. "Wait. Wait who is that? Alisha… It can't be."

"Is that Susanna and Bryan?" Annabelle suddenly jumped up and pulled out the phone. "Alpha A Leader zoom into window seven on the eastern side." Their eyes widened when they saw their friends lounging with James Richards in the crime base. They were all sipping alcohol and she saw Susanna had a lump next to her, her pregnancy belly, as she danced around with the men. "What… what is this? How could they have completely gone under our radar? Moreover, why did she lie about her pregnancy?" Annabelle flopped back into her seat.

"No." Alisha suddenly stood up. "It's not possible." She felt sweat build up on her forehead. She had never trusted Susanna because she knew that her friend was quite capable of back-stabbing and the same went with Bryan, however she didn't realise that they had taken an even more unique turn. Bryan was still after James' wealth however this time he had gone about it differently. "Bryan is going to kill James." She announced to the room as she turned around.

"What? What do you mean?" Eliza suddenly jolted. "Why would they want to kill him? There's nothing to gai- Wait. Are they Deviant?" Annabelle turned to Eliza, her eyes shaking with… excitement. "If they're the new investors… if father dies… they get everything." Almost like magic all the puzzle pieces assembled themselves almost artfully.

"We can take everyone down. Alisha we can take everything." Annabelle stood up and punched the air. "This is it! We can take all he has left today including his company, we can take all of it."

"We have to save him." Alisha suddenly stated, her brows were wrinkled and she looked upset however she knew that the only way to win, to take everything, was to keep James alive. "The blame for his death would fall on us if we don't save him and Eliza, you would lose your inheritance. Their plan was too bold… blame the sole inheritor and take it from them. Alpha Units save James Richards and capture Bryan and Susanna Martinez."

"Our plan may have been too good." Annabelle commented as they watched the scene unfold.

"Bryan, Susanna! Welcome to the team. Today will be a festive night, filled with joy, covered in celebration." James pulled his new partners into his arms in a joyful hug as they drank some champagne. "The last couple years have been rough but we're on the right path, soon we will be the future of the world. Genevieve will be destroyed tonight." The poor man was met with agreement.

"Let's write history together!" Susanna cheered as she shared a secret glance with Bryan. He smirked at her and let James continue his fantasy of happiness. "James, you sure look good for someone of your age!" She complimented as she slithered closer to him.

"It's true, you have a wonderful charm to you James. How do you do it?" Bryan asked as he prepared some more drinks. As James was distracted by Susanna, Bryan pulled out a small shotgun from under the table containing the drinks. He left it behind the gin bottle and coughed. Susanna took note of his cough and made her interest in James clearer as she pressed her body against his side. She knew that the one to commit the deed would be her, the final piece of proof she would need to show Bryan her love for him. The evidence of her devotion, something he would never refute after today. "I need to use the restroom, I think I'll be a while." Bryan suddenly brought up, acting goofy and shy. It was his act that made James underestimate him. James was very much into Susanna and immediately started touching her once Bryan left. Though she felt uncomfortable she knew what she had to do and reciprocated his touching and started to straddle him.

"Ewww! I don't wanna see dad and Susanna do it!" Eliza shrieked. The other two started to laugh as their teams moved in. They cringed at the sight of the two people they all knew well started to make out. Suddenly, Susanna pushed herself away from James.

"How about a drink?" She asked, flushed. "I feel like we need to loosen up a little. Y'know?" She was trembling slightly as she got up and went to the drinks station.

"Alpha teams move in 5... "

Susanna went to the drinks station and found herself reaching the gun. "What kind of drink do you want?" She found herself asking. "Gin?"

"Gin sounds good, sweety. Anything you give me sounds good." James chuckled, perhaps making her feel even worse. "I just need a break. It's been one hell of a few years. I think I've lost everything I loved, including my daughter, and now I have nothing but you and Bryan. You're my last hope. You're like a redemption arc of sorts for me. Perhaps I'll always be nothing without others but that's okay, because I can hope."

"Really? You think we're your hope?" Her voice was shaking as she stroked the gun. She didn't want to continue but perhaps the only result for her happiness was his death.

"4…"

"Yes. I can get everyone I loved back. My Eliza, beautiful Annabelle and wonderful Diana." He found himself remembering the wonderful women who had onced loved him so unconditionally but he had now lost. He felt himself regretting his actions but he knew that there wasn't anything he could do until he recollected himself.

"What about Alisha?" Susanna asked. She truly wanted to know. She knew that Alisha had left him too long ago but she thought it was a selfish move that was completely one sided.

"That girl? She's brought me no happiness. Pitiful child. I don't need her and she doesn't need me and that's how it will always be. There is nothing in the fates written for us, we will always be at odds. Perhaps that stays true with her and her mother too. Pitiful… and painfully unlucky. She probably will die alone and scarred." He laughed as he thought about his other daughter.

"She's your daughter too." Susanna felt some fire in her soul. Perhaps she was just looking for some justification.

"3…"

"So? I could never love her. She's barely my child." He felt his heart cringe at his words but he knew it was true. There was no love. They had a contractual type of relationship, it was built entirely on her needing help. He had never hugged her, sang her lullabies, wondered if she was happy. She was simply a commodity, someone he planned to sell in marriage.

"She's so lovely. You're probably the only person that can't see that. You and you alone." Susanna laughed.

"2…"

"Lovely? Maybe. But she isn't as lovely as Eliza or as talented as Annabelle or as perfect as Diana. Diana perhaps has scars too, she was raped by her own brother, you know. My poor, broken, wife. I loved her but I hated her. I still love her. Even if she left me. I know she'll end up mine. She can't be anyone else's. She's my wife." He found himself saying.

"One. GO! GO!" Alisha screamed as Susanna grasped the gun better. She had a resolve she hadn't had moments before. However before she could do anything, the windows all crashed and units of people flooded in. She screamed and dropped the gun and the entire building started blaring with the sound of the alarms. Bryan ran into the room and was immediately detained, as was James. The team leader placed them all in a row on the ground and pulled out a laptop. The S-class units had managed to turn of the alarms once the laptop had turned on. Then a face to face app was turned on and three women appeared on the screen.

"You three?" Susanna asked aloud. "Why…?"

"Well, Susanna. We were wondering if you would really kill him. I can't believe you were willing to become a murderer for someone like Bryan. You're better than that. But, who am I to tell you that? Oh that's right, I'm the woman he still loves." Alisha smirked and let out an evil cackle. "Now, James, you were going to die if it wasn't for me. Isn't that scary? Well, you're lucky you have me… at least you are for now. I wonder what we'll do now, with the three idiots that sit in front of me." She stared at them and found them looking confused.

"What do you mean by all of this? Eliza, Annabelle, what's going on? Is this some kind of prank?" He asked, ignoring Alisha.

"James, it's no prank. You've been attacked by Genevieve. You've surely heard of us before. Would you like to see what's left of your bases? Well… the answer is nothing. We've taken them all. I'm so glad that these cheapos are here too because we can finally see who the idiots' that own Deviant are. You two don't know anything about management. Like seriously, your bases simply don't work. You must realise that you can't just buy a bunch of houses and throw people in them to do nothing and expect people to take you seriously? We took control of your bases months ago and we can finally mock you."

Annabelle let out a laugh and started ranting. "It was even more stupid because there was no security. It was like playing with kids toys. I can't believe you two were what James considered his redemption. Why would that have been a viable option? The stupidity. ALSO Susanna… where is your baby? What the hell?"

"We had to fake the pregnancy for an investor." Bryan answered. He was staring at the screen longingly and only the three girls behind the screen noticed his actions. "We were going to attempt to get money from a family type investor so we lied about it."

"That's disgusting I was gonna buy a really nice crib for you two." Eliza piped up. She was upsetted by something trivial which made the other two chuckle.
