Don't You Want To Know?

"June! June!" Sushi called out desperately as she awoke, scanning the upstairs for any sign of him. Descending the stairs, her heart sank at the sight of torn agreement pieces scattered on the floor.

"He's still upset with me. But why? I thought we were finally growing closer, even though he knows I'm not Chloe. Why does he misunderstand my bond with Huan at such a crucial time?" Sushi lamented to herself.

Carefully, she gathered the fragments, painstakingly piecing them back together before hanging the agreement in its rightful place once more.

When Sushi was ready to leave for work, she was surprised to find a car waiting in front of their home.

"Huan? What are you doing here?" she asked, puzzled.

"Get in, I came to pick you up," he replied, holding the door open for her.

"It's okay, there's no need to pick me up. I can come by myself. Besides, this route is completely opposite to your home," she expressed her concern.

"That's fine, I wanted to. But we're not going to the office today," he mentioned casually.

"What do you mean? Why not? And where are we going?" she asked, now confused.

"Didn't you forget? We haven't even received sign-off from the professor for our project. If we don't submit it today, all of our efforts will go to waste, and we'll have to repeat the year," he reminded her.

"Oh, that's true. I completely forgot," she admitted.

"I need to talk to June. I need to ask him if he remembers what I said yesterday or not," she thought to herself.

"Huan, can we go to the office first and then leave from there?" she asked urgently.

"No, Sushi, we'll be late if we take a round turn. College and Office are completely opposite sides, remember? Besides, I've applied for leave for both of us today. Don't worry," he assured her.

"You applied for leave," Sushi exclaimed, her voice rising.

"Should I message June that I'm going with Huan to college? Will he be worried? Because I believe he doesn't know it yet," she pondered, glancing at her phone.

"But if I tell him I'm with Huan, he might misunderstand us even more. Let's not do that. I'll tell him tonight when he's sober," she resolved silently.

"Is everything okay? You look worried," Huan asked, noticing her distress.

"Yeah, I'm fine. It's nothing," she replied, though her mind was elsewhere.

Despite Huan's concern for Sushi, her thoughts were consumed by June throughout the drive.

"What? The professor isn't here today?" Sushi exclaimed, taken aback by the news from the administrative staff when they reached his office.

"Yeah, he took emergency leave a couple of days ago and went to his hometown. I think his father isn't feeling well. Maybe you can call him and reach out," the staff informed them.

"Huan, what should we do now?" Sushi voiced her concern.

"Don't worry, it's okay. Let me call him," Huan reassured her, attempting to reach the professor.

"Hello," a voice answered on the other end.

"Hello Professor, this is Huan."

"Yeah, Huan, tell me," the professor responded.

"Professor, Sushi and I haven't received sign-off from you yet. We came to college today, but they said you're out of town. I'm just wondering what to do since today is the deadline for submission," Huan expressed his worry.

"Oh boy, I can't come to the city for a few days. I can sign for you, but can you come to me? It's a two-hour drive from the city," the professor suggested.

"Sure Professor, thank you so much. I'll see you at noon then," Huan confirmed before ending the call.

"What did he say?" Sushi asked, her worry deepening.

"Sushi, I think we might have to go to his home. But he's out of town. He suggested we go to him. If we start now, we can come back before night," Huan explained.

Sushi became even more anxious. "What should I do? I can't let Huan go alone. And I need to talk to June."

"Sushi, come on, why are you just standing there? Let's go," Huan urged, gently taking her hand and nudging her to leave. They set off for the professor's place.

"What happened last night? I remember she came to pick me up. I remember falling into a pool.

What happened after that? It feels like she told me something, but why can't I remember anything?" June banged his head, trying to piece together the events of the previous night.

"And why isn't she in the office yet?" he wondered, peering into her cabin.

Summoning his assistant, he ordered, "Arrange a meeting with the Project C team," while scanning through papers.

"Sir, Sushi and Huan are on leave today, so I'll set up the meeting for tomorrow," she replied.

"Leave? Both of them together? Why?" June asked, surprise evident in his widened eyes and curious demeanor.

"He said they have to go to college together," she explained before leaving.

"Did she go to college? Why didn't she mention it?" June fumed.

"Okay, maybe she could have said if I was at home. Maybe I missed it. But she could have messaged me that she was going. But she didn't," he muttered, checking his phone.

"If she went to college, she could come to the office by noon, right? Why take leave? And that too with Huan?" June's mind raced with questions.

"Why do I care? It's none of my business what they're doing together. June, pull yourself together. You have a lot of work toward your company," he scolded himself, attempting to focus on his tasks.

Still unable to concentrate, he pondered, "Should I just message her? When will she be back? Did she go home?" With a sigh, he got up and headed home himself.

"What am I doing? Why am I thinking about her?" June scolded himself, staring at his reflection in the car mirror.

"June, have you fallen for her? No, you just pity her. She only told you, right? That you pity her. Then just pity her, don't go overboard."

He got out of the car and entered his home, but Sushi wasn't there. He asked the workers about her, and they informed him that some man came and they both left.

"A man came. Why is this Huan keep on coming to my home? Maybe I should just get a restraining order from court," he muttered to himself, noticing the agreement hanging in the same place again, but this time with a sticky note beside it.

"How could you fail to hear my two secret confessions straight in a row just after we started the agreement?" the note read.

"Two confessions, so she did say something last night," he thought, attempting to tear the paper again. To his surprise, he found another sticky note behind it.

"Are you afraid? Are you afraid that you will fall for me if you keep being close to me?

Is that why you're creating anger to be farther from me?" it questioned.

"Who's afraid of you?" he muttered, removing it to find yet another note behind it.

"Okay, if you're not, then continue your agreement for the next 2 months" it instructed.

"Who wants to be with you? I don't even love you," June retorted, removing it and finding yet another note.

"There is nothing between us. Huan is really a good friend to me. Don't misunderstand us. He takes care of me like his sister" it stated.

"You are so dumb. He has feelings for you. You don't even know that," June smirked, removing it to find another one.

"Give me a chance. I will make it up to you.

Even though we both don't want this marriage, I don't want to end this relationship with you on bad terms" it pleaded.

"Even I don't want," June admitted, picking it up.

"Stay, stay with me June just as you are for as long as you can..." the last note begged.

"I won't," he declared, still acting stubborn.

"Don't you want to know what I said last night?" the final note questioned.
