Awakening to Love

June had poured his heart out onto the pages, documenting the moments he spent with her. From their playful adventures as children to their shared dreams, every word resonated with love and longing.

Fifth Summer Together

"Why is she stuffing herself with strawberries like that? Does she like them? I've never seen her eat them before," June thought, observing her indulging in strawberries.

When he realized that she was trying to take revenge on him for not visiting her for the past two years, he smiled. He blushed, appreciating her innocent way of seeking revenge.

But that night, he couldn't sleep at all. He waited eagerly for her to come into his room once her parents were asleep. Even though it was past midnight, she didn't show up. He wandered around the room, but there was no trace of her. Slowly, he opened the door and walked to her room.

He heard strange sounds coming from inside. Opening the door, he saw her vomiting. Concerned, he approached her, "Chloe! What happened?"

She had no energy left, almost collapsing. "It's because of the berries, I guess. I hate them," she replied weakly.

June helped her to her bed, then immediately went downstairs to search for some tablets. Returning to her side, he stayed by her all night, taking care of her with unwavering devotion.

"How are you feeling now?" June inquired upon waking up the next morning.

"I'm okay. Thank you, brother. But how did you know?" she asked.

"I didn't. I actually heard sounds from inside and came to see what was happening. And there you were, suffering like that," he explained, attempting to pat her head.

At that gesture, Sushi seemed to withdraw slightly from him, leaving June puzzled by her reaction.

"Okay, freshen up. And don't tell your mom I stayed in your room," he said as he slipped out of her room.

"Why would I tell her? I'm not a kid anymore. I've grown up; I know better than that, brother," she replied.

Her words sounded mature, as if coming from an adult. June realized that Chloe was no longer just a child. Silently, he left the room.

One summer day that year, June asked her as they walked towards the store, "Chloe, have you been sleeping well?"

"Yes, why do you ask?" she replied.

"Nothing, it's just that you used to come and sleep beside me. I found it strange that you haven't been doing that lately," June said, feeling hesitant.

"Brother, stop teasing me. Why would I sleep with you? I know now that men and women can't just sleep together," she replied firmly.

Her response was a reality check for him. "Ah, our Chloe has grown up," he said, trying to pat her head. But she avoided his touch.

"Why is it that now that you've grown up, you don't want your brother to even touch your hair?" he asked, his tone firm.

"Brother, don't touch me without my permission from now on," she replied, then quickly ran towards the store.

June was shocked, and the situation became awkward between them. The whole summer felt uneasy, as they no longer moved around freely as they did in childhood. June's adoration slowly transformed into seeing her as a woman.

"It felt like she is the woman for me.", June written ending that year.

"June started liking me from that time. He didn't even see met Chloe till then. Does that mean he loved me?" Sushi pondered as she turned the pages.

Another year with her

"When I went to see her in the middle of the year, but she was hanging out with some other guy. How could she do this to me? I thought she cherished me. Who is this guy, and why is Chloe acting so cold towards me, like I'm a stranger? God, I want my old Chloe back. I don't want this Chloe."

Sushi smiled at those words.

"I don't know, I couldn't understand anything. She mentioned some disorder. I've been with her for many years, and I've never seen her like this. Why is she suddenly behaving so oddly?"

Summer that year

"How is she so beautiful in that purple dress? I feel like I'm falling for her. The wait of the whole year is literally worth it to see her. It seems I've got my Chloe back. I'm so happy to see her again."

"She cried, she cried just because I ignored her? Does she have the same feelings for me?" The words in the diary made Sushi smile.

"But then she ran from me, she didn't reply to me at all. Doesn't she understand my intentions towards her? Should I be more direct and ask her out on a date?"

She turned another page, searching for another year.

"I feel like I've lost my Chloe. Is she keeping her distance from me since I told her I don't want to be her brother? Does that mean she understood my intentions, and that's why she's ignoring me? This guy is getting on my nerves. What's happened to Chloe? Did she reject me?"

Another year

"How many years should I wait for you, Chloe? Can you come back to normal? What happened to my childhood Chloe? I desperately need her. I'm so tired of dealing with this version of her. God, please bring her back."

As Sushi turned the pages, she couldn't help but feel moved by his words.

My last year with her

"I think I've lost her completely this time. I made a huge mistake. She'll never come back to me.

Chloe, can you forgive me? I won't disturb you, but do you know, Chloe, you are my happiness.

Without you, my life doesn't seem to have any purpose. Do you remember when you asked me to be your husband? I don't think I can make it happen for you anymore.

I don't think you'll give me another chance. I'm sorry, Chloe, I'm sorry for my mistakes.

Thank you, thank you for coming into my life. If I get another chance to be with you, I hope that moment won't fade away from me.

Chloe, I love you. I love you so much."

Sushi began to cry as she realized how deeply he loved her. It was her he loved, not just Chloe. Overwhelmed with happiness, she ran downstairs.

"Sushi, what's wrong? Why are you awake? It's the middle of the night," Chloe exclaimed, surprised to see her coming downstairs while she was working on something.

"Chloe, Chloe, it's me, it's me, June loved," Sushi said excitedly.

"I know, I know that. June told me on the day of your accident. Does this mean you remember everything?" Chloe questioned curiously.

Sushi nodded, tears flowing down her face. "I want to see June. Do you know where he is?" she asked.

"June is at the beach house. Nivi finally found him and restricted him there," Chloe said.

"Can you take me there?" Sushi asked desperately.

They both hurried off. Sushi's excitement became uncontrollable as she realized June loved her, and she kept remembering his last words from the diary.
