A Rift in Understanding

"It's almost night. Why isn't she home yet?" June wondered.

"Should I call her? Is she in trouble?"

"Professor, we will leave now. It's getting late," Sushi said. "Please take care of your father. We'll come to visit again," she and Huan trying to bid their farewells.

"It's already dark. Why not stay tonight? We have a spare set at your in-laws' house. You can stay there," Madam insisted.

"No, Aunty. June will worry if I'm not back by tonight," Sushi replied, eager to meet June who was anxiously waiting.

"As if he concerned about you. He doesn't even know that you're not home," Huan whispered.

"What? Were you saying something?" Sushi asked.

"No, just agreeing with them. It's late already. If we start now, who knows what could happen on these messy roads," Huan suggested, subtly urging Sushi to stay away from June.

"Yes, Sushi. Huan's right. You could call June and let him know. He'll understand," the Professor chimed in.

"But June..." Sushi began, only to be interrupted by Huan, "It's okay, Sushi. We'll leave first thing in the morning. You can inform June. Let's listen to our elders."

"Wait here, I'll get the keys," Madam said, heading off to fetch them.

"What do I tell June? If I mention I'm with Huan, especially here, he'll never talk with me again. I don't know what to do," Sushi thought to herself.

"Here are the keys, and Sushi, this is for you," Madam said, handing Sushi a pair of clothes that belonged to Nivi.

"If you feel uncomfortable at night, you can change into these."

"Come on, Sushi. I'll show you the way," the Professor said, leading them towards June's old home.

Sushi and Huan were the only ones left in June's childhood home. Sushi couldn't help but feel a rush of nostalgia as she looked around the place that belonged to June.

She noticed June's picture hanging on the wall, a younger version of him smiling brightly. "He's so cute," she murmured to herself, unable to tear her gaze away.

With a sense of curiosity, Sushi wandered through the house, eventually finding her way to what she assumed was June's room. Upon entering, she was greeted by shelves lined with video games and memorabilia, a testament to June's love for gaming.

"So, this is where it all began," she thought, a small smile tugging at her lips. It felt like she was peering into his past, seeing glimpses of the boy he once was.

Everything in the room seemed to hold a story, each item a relic of June's childhood.

Sushi couldn't help but feel longing as she imagined June growing up in this room, surrounded by his favorite things. She opened a drawer in his computer desk and discovered a diary tucked away inside.

"Should I peek at what he's written? Is it appropriate?" Sushi pondered, her curiosity piqued.

"Well, he's my husband. I suppose it's alright for me to read," she reasoned with herself, just as she was about to open the diary.

A knock at the door startled her. Huan's voice broke the silence, "Sushi, are you in there?"

Quickly closing the drawer, Sushi replied, "Yes, I'm here. Come in, Huan."

Upon entering the room, Huan saw that Sushi appeared exhausted after her long day of travel.

"Sushi, would you like to freshen up? You spent the entire day traveling; get up and change. You'll be at ease?"

"Yeah Huan, sure. You go to bed, let's leave early in the morning.", Sushi mentioned and left for restroom.

Tring! Tring!, The phone rings for Sushi.

"It's June calling," Huan immediately turned the volume down button to make sushi not heard.

He came outside of the room with Sushi's phone and picked up.

"Hello June", Huan mentioned.

"Huan? Why are you picking up Sushi's phone? Where is she?", June asking in curious.

"She is taking bath.", Huan mentioned.

"She's taking a bath and they are together right now at this hour. June thought, "What the heck is happening?" and hung up the phone.

In a matter of moments,, June received a message that read, "June, I won't be coming back tonight. I know you're not concerned about me. You probably don't even know I'm not home. But I just wanted to let you know." The message appeared on June's phone.

June's rage surged as he read the message, his jaw clenched tight with frustration.

"Why is she doing this?" he seethed to himself, his mind racing with questions.

"Why is she spending the night with Huan, denying any connection between them?

They've grown up together since childhood; surely, she must have feelings for him too. But then why all these sticky notes, these gestures meant for me?"

His thoughts spiraled into a whirlwind of anger and confusion.

"How many games is she playing?" he wondered bitterly.

"From the very beginning until now, she's been lying to me. There is no single truth about her. Yet, why am I still consumed by thoughts of a woman like her?"

"I can't fathom that she's Chloe's sister," he muttered through gritted teeth, his anger boiling over.

With a sudden burst of frustration, he hurled the remote against the wall, the force of his emotions driving the impact.
