A Fateful Decision

It all started with a plea from Sushi's father, a desperate request born from the depths of financial turmoil. He sat Sushi down one evening, his expression grave as he revealed the harsh truth—they were in debt to June's family, and the only way to settle the debt was through marriage. She knew that her family's financial struggles were no secret, but she never imagined they would resort to such drastic measures to resolve them.

"And who am I to marry, Father?" Sushi asked, her voice barely above a whisper.

Her father's gaze faltered, his eyes filled with shame. "June," he confessed, his voice heavy with regret. "We owe a debt to his family, and this is the only way to repay it."

Sushi's heart clenched at the mention of June's name, her thoughts immediately turning to her sister, Chloe. She knew all too well of June's feelings for Chloe, his adoration and longing evident in every glance and gesture.

"But June loves Chloe," Sushi protested, her voice trembling with emotion. "How can I marry him when his heart belongs to her? And what about Chloe? Why can't she marry June instead?"

Her father sighed heavily, his gaze faltering under the weight of her question. "Chloe can't return from abroad yet, she has to complete her education, and moreover, my dear, she is in love with another man," he confessed, his tone laced with regret. "She's found happiness with someone else, and it would break her heart to marry June."

Sushi's heart clenched at the mention of her sister's unrequited love, her thoughts immediately turning to the pain Chloe had endured at the hands of a man who couldn't return her affections.

"But, Father," Sushi persisted, her voice filled with anguish, "how can I marry June when his heart belongs to Chloe? It wouldn't be fair to any of us."

"I know it's not ideal, Sushi," he admitted, his voice heavy with regret, "but we have no other choice. Our family's future depends on it."

"But does June agree to marrying me?" Sushi asked.

"June doesn't know yet that his bride is you; he is thinking that it is Chloe, and you should find some time to talk about this matter with him," her father hesitated.

"Okay, Father! Give me some time to think about it," Sushi requested.

"I hope you make a decision that can save our family," her father added.

That night, Sushi was lost in deep thought, unable to find sleep as she pondered a solution to their problem. After considering many options, she felt left with only one choice.

"Should I just pretend to be Chloe? With a few adjustments, I can look like her, as we are identical twins..." Sushi thought.
