"How dare you hit her?" May stepped forward. Deep down she was happy. In her mind, she said to herself that Verona deserved it.

Verona still held her face in pain. Her lips were swollen immediately.

The moment Jake stepped out, he had almost bursted out in laughter because Emily seemed to be really bad at pretending. He couldn't help but smile then, but frown immediately so people wouldn't notice.

Now, she was angry and her emotions were real.

He too brought his face to a frown and he walked forward. "What the hell was that?"

Verona frowned. She was on the brink of tears. She hadn't known that Emily would retaliate so fast. He was standing in the middle of Verona and Emily, but only Emily could see his face as his back was turned to Verona.

He mouthed to her. "Are you okay?"

Emily didn't know how to react so she just smiled slightly. Jake could have sworn he saw her cheeks fluster red.
