Chapter 17: Wish Granted

I am here today at the Claveria's mansion to talk to Andrew. Today is their wedding day but I don't care about it, all I care now is to make my daughter happy.

Its been a week since I found out that she's suffering a blood cancer. Each day that passed seemed like a sharp dagger being slowly thrust into my heart. It is painful to see with your own eyes the condition and suffering of your child.

If I could just take the pain that Sunny is feeling ... I hope I did. Each day was a torture for me, seeing my beloved daughter enduring her pain.

—and as a mother, I don't want to be selfish, especially now. I want to fulfill her wishes. I want my daughter to be happy. I want her to be strong... not even for me, but for herself.

"Oh my God! Sydney!" Michelle who immediately greeted me with a tight hug. We haven't talked for almost a week because I'm busy watching over Sunny.

"What happened to you? You've been without a clue for a week!" She asked worriedly.

"Is the wedding about to start?" I change the subject.

"Not yet, there's still an hour. Why?" She asked.

"Can I talk to Andrew?" A lot of questions drew in Michelle's eyees, but I no longer had time to notice and answer them all.

"S-sure ... he's in his room." She said.

"Can you come with me?" She nodded quickly and walked over to me first. His room was only on the second floor of the mansion so we could easily get there.

"I'll leave you here, okay? I have to go to church." I just nodded at her.

I let out three consecutive sighs first before I finally decided to open the door Michelle pointed to. Andrew was inside. He was already dressed and he was just adjusting the watch he was wearing. Next he arranged was the necktie of the tuxedo he was wearing.

"D-Drew ..." I softly called his name. He slowly confronted my behavior. He was shocked to see me standing in the doorway of his room.

His so handsome. In addition of his serious and gentle face. But I know it's too late...because we'll never have a chance ever, there will never an us anymore—he's getting married.

"What are you doing here?" He asked coldly. I remained standing at the door of his room. I didn't move from where I was standing even though he was now walking towards my place. He slowly closed the door of his room then faced me again.

"I'm asking you Sydney, what are you doing here?" His voice was tinged with annoyance. My body began to tremble. My tears flowed one after another.

"C-can I borrow you for awhile?" I asked him while holding back my tears.

"What?"

"Drew, I badly needed you. Please come with me?" My eyes was pleading.

"Why would I do that?" He asked sarcastically. I held back my crying for a moment so that I could speak properly.

"Please Drew? At least for a few minutes. You still have an hour, don't you? Please?" I begged.

"Why then?" I almost froze in my stance when he shouted.

"Please—" I gasped as he hugged me tightly.

"I thought, you're answering me; 'Because I realized how much I needed and love you' he said laughing before gently wiping the tears that were flowing on my cheeks.

"Stop crying, okay?" He hugged me tightly again.

"I knew it Sydney. I know you still love me. I'm glad you're here,"

"What do you mean?" I asked.

"Do you think I'll be willing to marry your cousin and not you? Of course not! All my life ... I promised you and myself that you were the only woman I would marry." He said softly which made my heart beat faster.

"But why are you dressed?" I asked.

"Psh! Where are we going?" He changes the subject.

"I'll introduce you to someone." I answered without looking at him.

We left Drew's mansion in his car. While on the way to the hospital I couldn't help but feel very nervous.

I don't know how I'm going to start introducing him later to our daughter. I'm so tired I feel like I'm sweating now even though it's so cold inside Drew's car.

Right now I don't want to think about my problem with Aunt Fely first, because I'm sure that she won't allow Belle and Drew's marriage to not to continue.

"Why are we in the hospital?" He asked crookedly. I remained silent and didn't bother to answer his question.

After we got out of her car, I hurriedly walked to the entrance of the hospital where Sunny was confined.

"You've been nervous before, I'm nervous too." I turned to Drew as he took my hand and gently squeezed it. I seemed to be electrified by the strange voltage I felt when he suddenly touched my hand. I want to smile now because despite all the years, I still have that strange feeling every time Drew holds my hand. It stays the same, just like when we were still lovers.

"Ma'am, it's good that you're here. Sunny is awake." Grace immediately opened up to me. Suddenly the pounding of my chest quickened. I hurried into Sunny's room.

"Momma, where are you from?" My daughter's question made my heart pound again. My tears flowed quickly.

"I—" I can't talk clearly because of the emotions I have right now. I feel a mixture of pain, nervousness, and pity now.

"Baby," I took my daughter's hand and kissed it first.

"If you meet your Dadda, do you promise momma that you will get well?" I tearfully asked her.

"Yes momma! I also want to get better because I still want to be with you for a long time. I promised that I will never leave you momma..." She smiled weakly. It is enough for me to hear words that will strengthen me as well. I'm happy that my daughter is fighting back.

"Baby, stay there, okay? Momma is just going to get someone outside, wait for momma, okay?" She nodded.

"Drew!" Drew smiled at me when I called him. I also held his hand so he wouldn't be surprised by what I would say.

"Let's go inside," He followed me into Sunny's room. I don't want to see Drew's reaction because I'm afraid of his possible reaction.

"M-momma who's him?" Sunny was specific to Drew. There I mustered up the courage to turn my gaze to Drew. He stared at Sunny. I could also see so many questions in his eyes. But even so he remained silent. Maybe he was waiting for me to get what he wanted to hear. I sat down next to Sunny's bed and took her hand.

"B-baby? Haven't you been looking for and asking momma about your Dadda for a long time?" Tears welled up in my eyes again. Sunny just stared into my eyes. Like Drew, she was also waiting for what I would say next.

"—baby, I'd like you to meet your Dadda."

"D-dadda?" She calls Drew while sobbing. I got up from sitting then wholeheartedly faced Drew again. He silently focused his gaze on my daughter. He couldn't seem to believe what he found out now. At the same time, his tears starter flowing.

"D-Drew, I'm sorry if I didn't tell you right away—" Even though I hadn't told him everything I wanted to say, he suddenly hugged me tightly and kissed my forehead.

After he did he trembled as he approached Sunny. He took my daughter's hand and kissed it.

"Baby?" He calls our daughter. He's sobbing while holding my daughter's hand, at the same time—he's smiling too.

"D-dadda? Dadda!" I was surprised when Sunny suddenly got up and gave her Dadda a big hug.

Drew immediately reciprocated with a tighter hug. I feel so happy now, as I enjoy watching them—Andrew and our daughter Sunny.
