MISUNDERSTANDING I

Eli closed his eyes and replayed Belle's words several times in his head. Her sound argument stunned him, and he knew that she was doing it out of guilty conscience toward his family. Yet, he didn't feel the same thing. 

"Am I actually heartless?" he asked himself without opening his eyes. "I'll go and apologize to her. I must have really gone too far for her to react that way." 

Opening his eyes, he grabbed his keys and phone from the table before standing up to get his bag. He immediately left the office and drove back home. He wanted to see Belle as soon as he could. 

Dr. Peachy Lopez was also late to clock off from work because of her last surgery appointment. She just came out of the elevator when she saw Eli walking out of the hospital. 

"Dr. Rivera!" She called and Eli looked back to see who called his name. Seeing the woman's face, he felt irritated. "Dr. Rivera, are you going home now?" 

"Yes."
