84 HEART-STOPPING MOMENT

Hearing no changes from Karis, Belle took a taxi and went to the airport to see her friend off. Karis was sitting in the lounge by herself, but she didn't look sad. She was talking to someone over the phone and when she saw Belle standing not far from her, she waved her hand at her, said something on the other end of the line, and ended the call. 

"I'm so glad you came," she expressed after Belle approached her. "I talked to Charles earlier and told him about my decision, but he couldn't send me off here due to his work." 

"And you are fine with it?" 

"Hn. I understood the nature of his work, way before he pursued it. I'm not taking it against him." 

"That's good to know. Since you have decided to give things another chance, I wish the best for both of you." 

Karis suddenly took hold of Belle's hands and gave them a gentle squeeze. "Belle, thank you for being a good friend, but can I have one favor from you." 

"What is it?"
