To escape from their awkward moment, Eli stood up and smiled sheepishly at her. "Let me play a piano piece for you," he said and walked away to calm his thumping heart. 

He talked to the pianist which Belle could no longer hear from her seat, but she could see that the pianist made way for Eli and gave him his seat. 

Eli looked at her once more and when both their eyes met, they both looked away as well. This behavior didn't go unnoticed by the couple who were familiar with Eli. 

Taking a deep breath, his finger pressed softly on the piano keys until a melody formed that caused Belle to look back at him. He seemed serious when he played, but there was that faint playful smile on his lips as he softly touched the piano with his dexterous hands.
