The eerie-looking blood-stained banner which hung over the House of Horrors had come undone and was dangling from the ceiling like a drooping flag on a windless day. Dim lights flickered near the entrance as ghastly groans echoed from within, lending the place a haunted charm.

Even as a kid, Xander had never been too fond of such attractions. It was not because he was afraid of the macabre themes or the creepy creatures lurking within, but because he considered the idea of paying to be scared beyond ridiculous.
