Testing

Lucas was busy talking to the guards at the gate, his hands were deep in his pockets and his face was unnaturally calm.

"Wait here, you still need to be scanned before walking in." The soldier pulled out a small rectangular device with a smile.

Lucas knew all these acts were for the guild's safety. He held out his hand, then, beacons for Lily to do the same.

Lily immediately complies, she held out her hand, but an awkward smile was spread across her face.

"Scanning..."

The soldiers stepped back, it was just primary defence protocol, because they needed to be ready for the worst.

"No impurities detected..."

The mechanical voice of a man sounds from the device.

Both the guards relaxed, they lowered their weapons, then, gave way to Lucas and Lily.

Lucas led Lily to the guild gate. It was a massive structure with two defensive towers protecting the gate from being attacked.

As Lucas and Lily both stood before the gate, the doors slowly began to groan opened.

After a few seconds the gate was fully open, revealing his world behind.

Lily's jaw almost dropped to the floor, she stared at the guild.

"Come on, we have to hurry if we should finish the signing up process before noon." Lucas said as he grabbed Lily's arm.

"Ah!" Lily subconsciously released her monstrous energy as she instantly turned to look at Lucas.

Lucas froze in place, fear had shrouded his vision now, his heart began to beat faster as his hand was still on Lily's arm.

"S-Sorry." Her aura returned to normal and Lucas was finally able to move.

Lucas let go of Lily, shock was written all over his face, his eyes were unsteady.

Lucas shook his head vigorously, as if it would shake off the fear growing in his heart.

"We need to get inside now." Lucas said, his voice was now very dark.

----

The duo walked around in the guild hall, they hadn't uttered a word ever since that awkward incident.

Lily sighed in frustration. She felt like pulling out all the hair in her head, she felt like a total idiot.

She accidentally lashed out at Lucas, it wasn't a physical strike, but that outburst was enough to mentally break a normal human mind.

"Look I am sorry, I really am." She said with true regret in her eyes as she spoke.

Lucas sighed.

"I heard you the first time." He said, he wasn't angry, he wasn't scared either. If anything, he was just a bit disappointed in himself.

He wasn't as strong as Master Avarlyn needed him to be, and just now, when Lily exploded, he felt as weak as ever before.

He was born to dominate. Pft, how would he do that in such a weak state?

"Excuse me, how can I help you?"

A woman stood before them, her hair was black, running down to her back. She had a sword strapped to her waist, and her dark eyes were on Lucas.

"We were looking for the signing up centre." Lucas replied immediately, his face revealing no hint of emotion to the stranger.

"It right over there." She points to a place not too far from where they stood.

"Thanks." Lucas said ready to leave, but was halted by Lily's expression.

Lily had a curious look on her face, she was also edging closer to the strange woman.

"I am Lily and you are?" Lily said holding out her hand in a friendly manner.

"Fey." She answered taking Lily's hand for a handshake.

Lily and Lucas walked up the place were Fey had pointed to. It was a room with the board which boldly displays the word 'Signing Up!'.

Lucas knocked twice, his hand was on the door knob, and Lily was standing right behind him.

"Come in."

Lucas pushed opened the door, then, walked in with Lily following closely behind.

"Names?" A woman sat before a desk at the other end of the room. She had short curly shoulder length hair, and deep blue eyes which assessed me carefully.

"My name is Lucas Darkzer." Lucas replied casually.

"Lily Rylex."

Lucas smiled seeing how well Lily acted before the lady, whom was now typing something in her computer.

"Okay, both of you will now head into that portal. It's a respawn dungeon, the more monsters you defeat the higher rank you will get."

Lily had a confident look on her face, but unknown to her, Lucas was already thinking of backing out, but the fighter in him rooted his feet to the ground.

"But before that we will need to ascertain your level of power." The lady said, she kept typing away not even taking another glance in our direction.

Before either of Lucas or Lily could say anything thing, they were instantly transported to the training room.

"Now both of you will be assigned a tester, he or she will spar with you in order to know how strong you are. I would highly advice you to not hold back." A mechanical feminine voice was heard from all directions as the atmosphere tensed.

Lucas got in his battle stance, if was crucial for him to win, in fact he must win! This is an opportunity he won't let slip off his fingers.

Two figures could know be seen heading towards them, they both were unarmed and had their aura suppressed.

Just like Lily.

Lily knew her opponent. She could just kill the two of them, but in order to not arouse suspicion she had to play along for now.

"Well as you just heard, we want you go all out, do not hold anything back." The man said with a smug smile on his face as he and his partner came into view.

I won't.
