The Ideal Human Project - Part 0

Chia Miyazaki

She was as close as you could get to the ideal human. Well, it's no surprise, the project was started in order to attempt to create another person like her after all. To put it simply, she was the final goal for all the children from the Ideal Human Project.

She was perfect, she had no reason to push herself so far. Yet, all these years, not only did she complete all of the tasks thrown against her by the facility, but she also pulled me through them—she beat every single challenge, whilst simultaneously dragging a weight behind her at all times.

I wasn't even close to perfect, I always struggled, yet for some reason, she helped me, every time—because of her, I was able to survive in this hell.

I sat beside her, looking towards the blemished grey walls. Rows after rows of empty chairs filled the room, rows after rows of empty tables filled the room and rows after rows of loneliness filled the room. There were plenty of resources scattered throughout the shelves of this oasis. It was practically a normal school classroom—if you removed the most important elements which made a normal school classroom.

'This is our last day together.' She sighed.

'Yeah.'

It was the end of the year and the subjects from the Ideal Human Project were only allowed to be kept until the age of sixteen. After that point, the facility would have to send them off to a normal school.

I was a year under her, so I would be staying for another year.

'When you come to National High School, let's have a normal school life.' She continued.

Hearing what she said, a soft smile formed on the edge of my lips. She looked towards me with hopeful, beautiful eyes which were partially covered by her deep brown hair.

'Yeah.'

'I'll be waiting, let's meet again, Rin!'

National High School.

I'll finally be free.

Just one more year.
