18 I want a divorce

Looking at the leaving figures, the others in the room were concerned asking what happened. Mercy explained Evelyn was sick and needed immediate medical attention. She then went ahead to let them order everything they wanted. It was on Evelyn's bill.

Some looked at the retreated man with a woman in his arms enviously, "Being carried by such a masculine man would be really lovely" one of the friends looked at Evelyn and said out loud. She wasn't envious of Evelyn at all. She knew what kind of a woman she was and would never cheat on her husband especially publicly.

But amidst all the chatting. Partying and dancing. Someone was capturing the whole scene on her phone

In the suite, Jeffrey took Evelyn directly into the bathroom and opened the shower to fall on them with their clothes on. He wanted to help her get sober so she could wash herself but the women held onto his waist sobbing and cursing her husband

"Why did he have to do this? Am I not worth of having his child? What did I ever do wrong to him to deserve all this humiliation." At first, he was stunned and wanted to get her off him but then he didn't see anything wrong in listening to her. Beside the bathroom was open and Mercy was on the other side of the room. He didn't want any misunderstanding between them and their friends.

" At first I didn't care much about what he did. I wanted to start all over with him as long as he was sorry and willing to deal all the other women but having a child outside our marriage is to last I can take. Jeff, did I do anything wrong to love him? I have done so much for him, sacrificed a lot including my health for him. But why now? It's not something he did at a whim. He has been lying to me for years. They have been playing me a fool all along…. What am I going to do? I want it all to end." Sobs. Sobs...Sobs she could not stop crying. Listening to her painful cries, his eyes become misty as well.

He slowly raised his hand and held her back to give her a hug. He returned the hug tightly consoling her

" Its okay… It will be over soon.. stop crying, he is not worth your tears" he talked to her hoarsely as his voice break emotionally. To outsiders he may seem as a cold and distant man but to her he is always patient and tolerate. The door to the bedroom opened as Mercy came in with a new batch of clothes

She could see the door to the bathroom was open and two of them hugging. She didn't ask what was happening and entered

" Is she okay?" she asked coming in. their posture told her nothing was happening but just a friendly hug or a drunkard hug.

" She will be alright in a moment. Help he rout of her clothes and shower. She needs to rest as well. Ill go to the other room to take a shower and change as well. I reek of vomit and alcohol… she really knows how to welcome me…" he laughed off the whole vomiting scene. Mercy was amused by the casual man once again. He was always himself when he was with the two of them. Thinking of it, this was not the first time she vomited on him, "hey, how come she only vomits on you each time she drinks?" Mercy thought for a moment and she took Evelyn away from Jeff

"That's right. This is the third time she is doing it. But she stopped drinking years back." He looked at the crying woman and his heart broke

"Who else could cause her to be this way except her scum of a man and his mistresses?" She didn't even realize she blurted out what her friend was going through

That night, Evelyn insisted on going back home drunk… out of goodwill, the two friends helped her to her car and allowed the guard to take her home. But some man could not keep his mind calm and followed the car until he was sure she got home safely.

Looking at retreating car deep into the huge mansion, he remembered her words clearly

" I want a divorce. Set me free Martin" she muttered those words in her drunken state. Will she go ahead and ask for divorce. The thought of it tightened his heart. The society had a way of criticizing women who were divorced. Even though she comes from a well know family, she will still be in peoples conversations.

They tend to blame the women most of the time. He just wanted her to be happy. As long as she was happy he was okay living as a bachelor forever. He could not bring himself to love another woman. No matter how many time he went out with women, they could not bring out the fire he felt just looking at her.

"I hope you know what you are doing. I will be here waiting for you if you decide to go through with it." He said before driving away

In was around two in the morning when she arrived home. She took her keys and opened the main door. She staggered for a bit but a hand reached out to hold her before she could fall down. It was Thomas her guard. At that moment, the door to the bedroom opened and Martin in his pajamas walked out seemingly still sleepy

" Hey, hey. How could you drink to this state?" he walked to them hurried and tried to take her from the guard, " its okay, I will take it from here" just as he tried to her tightly, she pushed him away from her in disgust. It was embarrassing to be humiliate before their employee but she didn't care. He mind was not on humiliating him but the feeling she had at that moment. She felt disgusted. His touch along made her want to kill him. She wanted to hit badly but she held herself and walked slowly away.

He rushed to hold her again and this time she pushed him hard and lost her balance falling down on the floor

"Stay away from me you jerk. Don't you dare touch me? You disgust me." She tried to stand but her body proved to fight against her, "not you too, you are my own body. Don't betray me… you are the only thing I have" she talked to herself holding on to the table near to her and stood. She almost fell again and Martin held her in place, "I said…. Don't…" before she could finish her sentence, she threw up. It landed straight on Martin.
