Commencing the Plan

Evan and Reagan froze upon hearing the name of the individual. One thought invaded their minds as they stared at Oliver.

'We're fucked'

Oliver was well known not only throughout the town but also within the mage society as a whole.

Being intelligent and a natural-born leader, Oliver was able to salvage situations that appeared hopeless.

However, that's not the main reason for his popularity, it's because he's the youngest person to achieve becoming a B-rank at the age of nineteen.

Kaia glared at him with disgust plastered over her face as she stood up from her chair.

"Seems like they're not going to surrender. Take them down."

Following his command, Edward and Yuko launched themselves toward the three criminals.

Pouring mana into their rings, Evan grabbed his scimitar while Reagan grabbed his metal-plated knuckles.

Yuko appeared at Evan's side as she clutched her katana's handle. Infusing mana into her sword, she slashed upwards at him.

Barely having any time to defend, Evan quickly raised his scimitar in an awkward position.

The force behind her attack not only knocked his scimitar into the air but also pushed him off balance.

Using this chance, Yuko took a step closer as she filled her back leg with mana.

Spinning clockwise using her front foot, she delivered a backkick to Evan's stomach.

Her kick powered with mana was strong enough to send him through the wall and into another building. She waved goodbye as she left to chase Evan.

At the same time, Edward surrounded his rapier with a layer of water as he stabbed at Reagan.

Unlike Evan who was caught off guard, Reagan was prepared as he raised his arms, coating them with a sheet of rock. The rapier clashed with his arms, only pushing Reagan back a few inches.

A smile appeared on his face as he blocked Edward's attack. Yet his smile lasted for an instant as he watched the layer of water gathered at the rapier's tip.

"Aqua Inspiratione"

The small water sphere shot a large blast of water large enough to cover Reagan completely and shatter the wall behind him into pieces.

Reagan lost his footing as the high-pressure water forced its way down his mouth and up his nose. He had no choice flow of the water pushed him outside.

"Good luck President," Edward said as he walked gracefully through the hole in the wall.

"I won't need it" Oliver responded as he began circulating the mana inside his body.

'There's nothing here' Jayce thought to himself as he looked around for the third time. The warehouse wasn't huge so it didn't take him very long to search.

It was empty, other than the trash that was scattered around the place.

'If she spent most of her time here, there has to be something.' It wasn't making any sense, why would she have placed guards outside to protect nothing?

That's when an idea popped into his mind, activating his Eye of Truth, he started inspecting every inch of the warehouse.

'Bingo'

Inspecting a piece of concrete, the name differed from the rest of the ground.

[Name: Concrete (Trapdoor)]

Transferring all of his demonic energy into his hand, he slammed his fist into the trapdoor.

Dust flew everywhere as a large hole appeared in the floor. Jumping down the hole, he entered a long corridor that extended only one way.

It was about fifteen meters long and a little over three meters tall with crystals lighting the hallway like the ones in the smithy.

There were four doors, two on each side, picking the closest one he walked up and opened it.

Bottles filled the shelves along with other things that Jayce had never seen before, making him assume it was a type of storage room.

Grabbing one of the bottles, he tried to inspect the transparent liquid.

[Name: ???]

[Description: ???]

Jayce was a little surprised that the system couldn't identify what the liquid was.

Nevertheless, he didn't have the time to figure out what it was, setting the bottle back down, he ventured further into the room.

In the very far back, he spotted a single desk with a lamp in the corner. Ignoring the other strange objects on the shelves, Jayce went straight for the desk.

Resting on the desk was a piece of paper, picking it up he read to himself what was written on the paper.

'Dear Kaia,'

'We are glad you were able to finally able to find the right balance for the formula. When you are ready to commence your plan, let us know.

But you must hurry, the Headmaster will be returning soon so you don't have much time. We will keep supporting your righteous quest.'

'Sincerely,

The D.A.'

Instead of finding answers, questions flooded Jayce's mind after reading what seemed to be a letter for the Exterminator's leader.

Hoping he could find something else to answer his questions, he searched through the drawers in the desk yet found nothing.

Still, there was one thing that was made apparent to him.

'I don't have much time.' He didn't know what their plan was but it couldn't have been anything good.

The quest he was given had a time limit of nine days, was this the reason why there was a time limit?

Leaving the letter on the desk, he left the room and went into the room across from him.

Opening the door, Jayce could already tell it was much different from the room he came from.

There was one table in the middle with various flasks that differed in size and shape.

Adjacent to the table was a gurney that had belt straps to restrain whoever was unfortunate enough to end up on it.

'Was she experimenting on people? If she was, where is she holding them?'

It was obvious that whatever she was trying to make she was using people as guinea pigs.

However, he didn't know where they were being held or if they were even still alive. Giving the room one last check, he closed the door and headed for the next room.

Unlike the other rooms, this door didn't have a handle but a lever on the wall.

Thinking that the room might be where she was holding her prisoners, he quickly reached for the lever. Before he could pull it, he felt a presence suddenly appear behind him.

"Seems like I have a rat problem"
