10 Yaeko Nishimiya

Standing at a door in a decent apartment complex, this was the place where he would deliver his last package for today, after this he would go home.

It's already 8 in the night, his sister already called him dozens of times, even though she knew he has a part-time job.

Honestly with the way she acts, he's quite afraid of the possibility she'd become a yandere bro-con or something, her overprotectiveness isn't normal which is quite understandable since Hiru is literally the only family she has.

But still though…where did he go wrong raising her?

Was it because he spoiled her too much or something?

Either way, he'll cross that bridge sooner or later, but for now, he shall finish this last delivery order.

Taking a deep breath, he pressed the doorbell a few times before someone asked behind the door.

"Who's this?"

The voice was that of a girl, her tone was suspicious, which really he couldn't blame her for acting that way, she's actually smart enough to know not to open the door especially in the world they're living in.

Unlike Ai Hoshino who got yelled at for carelessly opening a door to a stranger, granted she doesn't know that the person who was outside would soon be her killer.

Still, a bit of caution is warranted especially knowing her line of work isn't exactly safe.

Either way he's not here to criticize Ai, he's here to deliver and do his job, with a polite tone he replied. "I'm the delivery guy, I'm sure you ordered something from the company unless I made a mistake in the room address…"

Hiru knew that he didn't make a mistake, he checked the address multiple times, it's just him joking.

Quickly, the door opened, realizing a girl his age with a pale complexion, long rusty rose colored hair and a beautiful face.

She was sweating, probably doing something physical and it didn't take long for him to figure out what's happening, behind her was filled with unboxed cardboard boxes.

It could only mean one thing, she or her family just moved out.

Although she looked a bit familiar for some reason, has he seen her from somewhere..?

"Wait, that's for me. I ordered that." The customer said.

"Good, looks like I'm in the right place." Hiru smiled a bit at her.

"Sorry about earlier, you know how dangerous it is nowadays.." The girl replied a bit awkwardly.

"No, it's fine I can understand that, and I don't blame you for that. In fact I praise you for being cautious after all you don't know the person behind your door." He praised her, it was a genuine one considering who was his first customer, if it wasn't for his interference Ai would surely die.

Surprised by the unexpected compliment, it made her smile and said, "Thank you.."

Hiru nodded and accepted her thanks and he looked at the package to check her name once again and replied. "Well then, you have to sign here Nishimiya-san we are done-"

He paused and later his eyes widened as something clicked inside his mind and then stared back at his customer to get a good look and realization came after.

'It's no wonder she looked familiar to me, it turns out this person is Shōko's mother Yaeko Nishimiya!' Forgive him for being forgetful after all a decade without watching anime makes him forget a lot of things, not to mention, while she looks like Yaeko from the anime, the fact that she looks very different, more detailed and more realistic.

Which is quite understandable because this and that are completely different, the anime version lacked a lot of details compared to this one.

Noticing his surprise, Yaeko hesitantly asked. "Is there something wrong..?"

Her words made him snap out of it and quickly his mind went overdrive thinking of a perfect excuse and blurted. "Oh sorry, I can't help but realize how beautiful you look up close."

Yaeko's eyes widened as soon as she heard those words. "Eh.."

Hiru couldn't help but mentally palm himself from blurting that out, it wasn't like he was lying about that compliment. It's actually the truth, he did think she is beautiful, however for him to say that out loud wouldn't help him from this already awkward situation.

'Great going me, from all the words I could have said, why 'that' specifically..?' Hiru let out a sigh and said. "Look, can you please forget what I just said..?"

"Oh umm…I-i don't think I can.." Yaeko answered as her face went a bit red including her ears.

'Oh wait, that cheesy line actually worked?!' Hiru failed to realize that those 'cheesy' lines from where he came from works perfectly in this world as it's considered as original and wasn't overused by anyone at this point.

He wasn't sure what to do at this point, to think he successfully flirted with a girl even though it wasn't really his intention.

If this continues there's a high chance that she might become his girlfriend, if he really puts his mind to it, it might be possible.

While he wasn't particularly that interested to be in a relationship, he wouldn't mind experiencing it.

To be honest he has never been in a relationship before, that includes in his previous life.

It wasn't like he was lacking in the looks department, it was just the lack of interest and effort that made him single.

And now an opportunity has come, maybe he could try the dating game..?

Shaking his head, as he let those thoughts vanish from his mind, and think. 'No, I shouldn't be hasty, there's no guarantee if I would meet her next time, I'll think about it again if we ever meet again.'

While he could ask her for her personal number, it would be unprofessional to do especially if he's still at his shift.

As interesting as the prospect of being a possible father of Shōko Nishimiya, he still has a job to do.

"Right.. please sign here Nishimiya-san."

Yaeko nodded still a bit red from his words earlier, but not much as before, she signed the checklist and after that he said. "Thank you for your cooperation Nishimiya-san, have a nice night."

Hiru smiled professionally at her, to which she returned with a smile on her own.

After that he left the apartment thinking that this might be the first and the last they will meet each other.

And he was quite naive for thinking that.

-Yaeko Nishimiya-

She didn't know what to think when this delivery guy suddenly started flirting with her, or at least what she thought he did.

As a beautiful woman, she had a fair of admirers that wanted her hand, but she wasn't interested in any of them.

It wasn't like she has no interest in romance, as a teenager who is at the peak of her hormones, it's quite normal to think about relationships.

While she had experienced a fair amount of flirtatious action toward the opposite gender, she never experienced something as bold and direct like this delivery guy did.

It caught her off guard causing her heart to speed up a little and making her blush, and only a handful of guys could make her feel like this.

Either way, she expected him to continue flirting and maybe ask her number, like many other guys did after trying to flirt with her.

But to her surprise, he didn't and even said to forget about what he said earlier to her, there's no way she'd forget that easily when those lines were delivered as smooth away as possible.

Either way, because of this he made quite an impression of her that he's quite different from other guys.

He remained professional all the way, and she respected that. Yaeko never thought that someone would make quite an impression toward their first meeting, as far as she could remember no one managed to make an impression toward her like that.

What a strange man.

He doesn't look bad, maybe-

'No wait, girl you just met him and you're already trying to drop your panties right off the bat?' Yaeko couldn't help but be embarrassed by her thoughts.

There's no doubt that he's an interesting person, a kind of guy that she personally wants to know better, but too bad it's not meant to be as this would probably be their last meeting.

Either way, she has better things to do rather than think about a charismatic guy, like the new school she transferred in.

It wasn't like she wanted to transfer school in the first place, she and her family simply didn't have a choice as their previous house was destroyed by a Devil.

Yaeko could help but grits her teeth out of frustration thinking about Devils.

Why do those unholy beings exist? When all they cause is pain, despair and misery toward humankind.

Her hatred toward Devil's may not be as served as others who lost their families toward them, however she hated them enough for her to wish that they should disappear from this world.

Hiru has just finished reporting his delivery receipt from the company he was working for, now that he finished checking out it was time for him to go back home.

As he was about to ride his scooter to leave, all of the sudden a figure dropped right in front him.

"Found…you…"

"What the hell?!" To say that he was surprised waa an understatement.

A/N: I'm not sure what Yaeko's personality was when she was in her teenage years, since I'm pretty sure she wasn't always the strict woman that she is in the anime.
