Chapter 39: The Rut

Rhyland can feel it.

That time of the month is nearing. His Rut. His temperature has risen by a few degrees and he was having a hard time focusing on things. The trio were once again meeting at Rhyland's manor to finalize their plans for the weekend.

"So this weekend we will go to raid the archive facility?! Will it be safe??" Aubrey asked, doubt evident in her voice.

"You don't have to go if you're scared, human." Dimitri responded.

"Thanks. But no thanks. I'll come." Aubrey said while inching closer to Rhyland.

"Why? Worried I'll do something to your man?"

Dimitri said with an irritating smirk.

'Yeah! Who is going to protect Rhyland from you?' Aubrey thought stubbornly but of course she was unable to say it out loud. The other party was a Lycan after all.

"Rhyland, are you okay? You're a little hot?" Aubrey commented after noticing the sheen of sweat on the man's forehead. His skin felt hot to the touch.
