Liang Jun.

High in the clouds, a man stands on a peak of purple rock.

"Lu Feng, doth the wind carry whispers of a new disciple embraced by your guidance?" A woman walked out from the shadows.

She had long, purple hair and purple eyes.

Her skin was pale white, and her features were sharp.

She wore a blue robe, and her figure was slender.

"Indeed, dear mother, my apprentice takes the form of a young maiden by the name of Lin Siyu. Her talents are nothing short of remarkable."

Lu Feng answered.

"Ah, indeed? Hath my ears caught the murmur of her dwelling within the mere third stage of Qi Refinement?"

"You speak the truth, yet consider this - a mere fifteen years adorn her mortal coil, and in the span of a mere week's cultivation, her talents radiate like a beacon."

"Mm. If you say so."

The woman looked at her son, her expression cold.

"By celestial paths, I inquire: what hidden truth lay behind your intention to bestow upon her a forbidden technique?"

Lu Feng's face became even colder.

"I find myself bewildered, dear mother, for I know not the subject of your discourse."

"Ah, a cascade of stars implies a trust profound, as it appears you hold unwavering faith in this maiden."

"Her inclusion within our sect would undoubtedly prove to be a most felicitous augmentation, worthy of acclaim."

"Verily, your constancy shines like a steadfast constellation. Astounding it is, that the notion of you not yet selecting a companion for life remains a notion beyond belief."

"..."

"Tch. I'll be taking my leave."

The woman soared into the air and turned to look at her son.

"Should the sands of three decades pass and your heart yet remain unbound, mark my words: I shall return, and upon that time, deliver a lesson through the might of my will. Three centuries and more grace your existence, while your kin has found familial bliss. Though cultivation thrives within you, the tapestry of social bonds awaits further weaving."

Lu Feng nodded his head and watched as his mother flew away.

His face twitched.

'It seems like mother is quite angry.' Lu Feng sighed.

"It's hard for a single cultivator with a mother. Even if I try to put my heart towards cultivation, she always wants an in-law." Saying that, he sighed and walked into his house.

After he left, Lin Siyu was happy.

Although she kept a calm expression throughout the whole thing, she was still thrilled in her heart.

Especially now, as she has some free time on her hands for the first time in this world.

Without wasting a second, she quickly got her things and ran out of the house, heading towards the centre of the town with a few servants behind her.

Lin Siyu's family's house was on the border of the town because her father wanted to have a bigger home.

When she got to the centre area, the place was bustling with activity.

People were walking and talking.

There were stalls and shops everywhere, and the scent of food filled the air.

'Hmm, this place is quite interesting.'

She looked at the shops and explored the place.

While exploring, Lin Siyu noticed many people looking at her strangely.

'Why are they looking at me like that?' She muttered strangely.

She picked up her ears and listened in on some of their conversations.

"Did you see that an immortal actually went to the Lin family? Apparently, it was for that girl." A man commented.

"Really? But isn't she not able to cultivate? Why would he come for her?" A woman said.

"It's probably for marriage. She is exquisite." Another woman remarked on the side.

"An immortal cultivator at his power? Why would he want a mortal to be his bride?" A voice sneered at the woman's remark.

"Hey, you never know what weird hobbies they might have." The woman defended herself.

Lin Siyu sighed as she heard the conversations.

'Damn, if it wasn't for this old lady being nice, I would smite all these people.' She hummed.

She ignored all their comments, as she didn't plan on staying here long, anyway.

As the servants followed her, Lin Siyu was browsing the merchandise on display.

She's never seen such items in her previous life up close, so she just wanted to check them out.

After fooling around for a while, she went to a restaurant to eat.

There was a variety of dishes, but Lin Siyu chose some light food.

When she sat down and was about to eat, she overheard a conversation.

"The entrance exam for the Lotus Moon Sect is coming up, young master Liang, and I had some people gather some information about the course."

Lin Siyu put down her utensils and listened closely, hearing that he mentioned the exam for the Lotus Moon Sect.

Although she is confident about the Lotus Moon Sect's exam, she knows nothing about it, so she is curious.

She's also curious why the man called him young master, as her Lin family should be the only 'noble' family here.

The man smiled.

"Speak," He ordered.

The person in front of him bowed slightly and then said, "There are a series of tests that the applicants must pass in order to enter the Lotus Moon Sect. First, the written examination, which tests one's intelligence and knowledge. If the examinee passes, they will move onto the mental examination, which tests one's mind and the purity of the soul."

"Interesting." The man, Liang, was intrigued.

"Continue."

"After the practical examination, the final stage of the entrance exam is a comprehensive examination. They use a artifact, known as the Soul Scrying Crystal, to examine the potential of each participant."

Liang nodded his head.

"I understand."

Lin Siyu wasn't too surprised by the exam.

Although different from the exams she's seen in the novels, it still holds some similarities, like the second and third one.

But she has never heard of a written exam before to test the intelligence of a person.

Maybe she won't have to deal with some brain dead plots she normally sees in those novels because they actually have a system in place to stop those dumbasses from joining.

She thought about that for a while and shook her head.

"Hey, the lady who loves to eavesdrop. Would you mind sharing your thoughts?" The man named Liang Jun said.

Lin Siyu froze when she heard this and looked up and noticed the man smiling at her.

Liang Jun was handsome, and he had short black hair with a strain of blue at the front and bright brown eyes.

His facial features were sharp, and he had a cold aura about him.

He wore a simple red robe, and his sleeves were rolled up, showing his muscular forearms.

She was taken aback when he called out to her.

'How'd he notice me?'

"Ah, I was just listening because I was thinking about the entrance exam." Lin Siyu said, looking away.

Liang Jun looked at her curiously.

"What are you planning on doing?"

"I was thinking about trying it."

"You?" Liang Jun looked at her strangely.

"You're only in the third stage of Qi Refinement. You may be accepted as a handyman disciple."

Lin Siyu looked at him with confusion.

"But then this dude, Lu Feng, rolls up and tells me he's down to take me as his apprentice. Apparently, he's the head honcho of the Obsidian Bridge crew or whatever."

Liang Jun spit his tea out hearing this and looked at her with shocked eyes.

"W-what?" He spluttered, choking on his drink.

He coughed violently and tried to compose himself.

He regained his composure and stared at Lin Siyu with a confused expression.

"You're joking, right?" He asked.

"Why would I be joking about something like that?" Lin Siyu was puzzled.

Liang Jun looked at her in disbelief.

He couldn't believe that this girl, who was only at the third stage of Qi Refinement, knew a mid-Nascent Soul Realm cultivator.

And not just any cultivator, but the leader of the Obsidian Bridge!

How could she say this so casually?

'This girl must be a genius or something.'

Liang Jun thought about it and believed her.

He was confident in his judgement of people, and she didn't seem like she was lying.

"Well, congratulations. I can't wait to see how you fare at the entrance exam."

"Thanks. I'm sure you'll do well, too." Lin Siyu said with a smile.

The two chatted a little more before Lin Siyu finished her meal and left the restaurant.

As she was walking through the town, she noticed many people looking at her with curiosity.

"Damn, is the whole town gossiping about me?" She grumbled.

'I guess I'll have to put up with this for a while.' Lin Siyu sighed.

"Young master Liang, considering the rumours about this lady, what she said should be true." A man whispered.

Liang Jun nodded his head.

"Indeed, it would appear that way."

'So, the rumours about the immortal visiting her are true.' Liang Jun thought.

"Su Mo, what is her name?" He asked.

"Lin Siyu. She's from the Lin family, which is the only family here who can cultivate."

"Lin Siyu, huh?"

Liang Jun muttered, his eyes fixed on the girl in the distance.

'This should prove to be an interesting entrance exam.' He thought.
