Chapter 26 WOUNDED

As I looked around, I realized that we were not in the dorm as I had originally imagined but rather some sort of an office. The room included two small beds lined the walls from each other, and a wall filled with cupboards and drawers sat behind a single enormous desk.

We were by ourselves, and I could feel my head beginning to spin as images of the fight began to flood my mind.

‘‘Colter…?’’ I croaked out, licking my dry, cracked lips to wet them. I blinked my eyes at Kaden, searching for answers. ‘‘Is Colter alright? Where is he? I want to see him…’’

‘‘He is all right...'' Kaden answered, who was perched on the edge of the bed I was lying in. Because his hip was resting against my thigh, which caused my skin to light up like a livewire, I slid aside in the hopes that he would believe I was doing it to give him more space. ‘‘You can see him right outside. Everyone is worried about you and wants to know how you’re doing...''
