Chapter 12 Distressed and Confused_1

"Yebai!"

Yun Qiyan ran over and held his arm, cautiously asking, "What's wrong with you?"

Lu Yebai's face had returned to calm. He lowered his eyes to look at Yun Qiyan and said indifferently, "I'm a bit tired. I'm going home first."

Yun Qiyan still held onto his arm tightly. Considering something, her eyes twinkled. She smiled and said, "My birthday is in a few days. Come over tonight, let me show you the dress you bought me as a gift, okay?"

Yun Qiyan was very subtle in her words.

Her intentions were clear in her heart, but her words sounded entirely innocent.

Lu Yebai understood what Yun Qiyan's late-night invitation meant, but he wasn't in the mood tonight.

He reached out to touch Yun Qiyan's pretty face and withdrew his arm from her embrace. "I'll get someone to take you home."

His reply indicated clearly that he didn't want to go.

Seeing Lu Yebai's indifferent expression, Yun Qiyan felt as if something heavy had sunk in her heart. Usually, she would have agreed if he voiced such sentiments, but tonight for some reason, she didn't want Lu Yebai to go home but instead to take him with her.

Yun Qiyan adamantly clung to Lu Yebai's arm, looking up at him. "But, I really want you to come home with me, Yebai... we've been together for so long, but we haven't..."

Her voice trailed off, her soft tone stirring with a hint of allure.

Any man, teased by his girlfriend in such a way, would likely not reject her.

But Lu Yebai furrowed his brows at this moment, apparently growing impatient.

"I'll get someone to send you home." He emphasised his words, pulled his arm from her embrace again. Yun Qiyan wanted to say something more, but Lu Yebai's expression stopped her. She obediently let the person Lu Yebai called send her away.

Despite having been with Lu Yebai for so long, Yun Qiyan had always been somewhat afraid of him.

Lu Yebai was simply too outstanding, so perfect he seemed detached from reality. He indeed treated her well and over the years, he never had any other women.

But his affection, was just that - affection, nothing more.

What was missing? Yun Qiyan couldn't put her finger on it.

For instance, right now, as he was making her leave, she had no grounds to object.

It made her feel as if she were merely a pet of his, rather than an equal... his girlfriend.

Lu Yebai drove towards the Lu Family's residence.

He was feeling irritated.

The teasing laughter in the private room echoed constantly in his ears.

["That Meng Xi'er, she's quite attractive. That little face, that skin, even better than the actresses I've been with! I regret not touching her a bit just now."

"Haha, she's not someone you can touch."

"What are you suggesting, a fallen phoenix is not as good as a chicken, besides, now she…" ]

Was Meng Xi'er beautiful?

Lu Yebai tried to recall but couldn't remember anything substantial.

He had known her for too long, so long that he had lost his ability to assess her as a person. Aside from his deep-rooted dislike and irritation, he couldn't observe anything else about Meng Xi'er.

However, he thought that if the Lu Family hadn't taken Meng Xi'er in after her prison release, she might have fallen into the hands of those people, her life would likely be over.

Remembering the hand that had caressed Meng Xi'er's back, Lu Yebai's eyes suddenly turned cold.

He suddenly wanted to rush back and chop that fellow's hand off!
