2 Death as expected

You think I'd crumble?

You think I'd lay down and die?

I will survive - Gloria gaynor

"Au! Au!" Her hands went to her head. She held her braids and tried to stop them from hurting but her weight was pulling her down. "STOP! STOP!" She shouted at the wolf and hit it. "If you're going to eat me just eat. No need to store me up for winter. Your Cubs can eat your throw up. Now put me down."

The wolf was holding her up using its mouth by her braids. When she screamed to stop, it reluctantly let her go. She fell on her butt with a thump to the ground.

Denise clutched her waist in pain. She was a fragile girl, when had she ever been mishandled like this? But it was no time to be picky, she was facing impending doom. How could she reason with a wolf. Though, it seemed, the wolf did have some understanding.

Massaging her aching scalp, she eyed the wolf. Mr. wolf who noticed this also put himself up for careful observation. He turned this way and that and swished his tail, trying to show off all his best sides.

Denise on the other hand, with her high IQ, failed to understand what he was up to. What she did notice was that spark of intelligence in those wild eyes. If it were possible to just appear somewhere else when she was just in her room and have a wolf the size of an elephant, then it mustn't be rare for the said wolf to have civilized thoughts. She decided to try something.

Slowly she stood up and tried to walk away. The wolf followed.

Denise; treat it like a dog Denise. Treat it like a dog.

"No. Stay," She commanded. It looked at her like she was an idiot.

She tried to walk away again. He still followed.

Denise; Well at least it is not gouging me. Or maybe it's making sure I don't escape.

She turned back to the wolf. She found that she had gained more confidence because she wasn't being eaten yet. She felt she had to make sure she wouldn't be eaten- at least until she got a proper weapon.

"Listen," she said. She was amused to find that the wolf actually looked at her like it was paying attention, "don't try to eat me. I'm poisonous. I take plenty of soda and deep fried food so you know there's plenty of caffeine and seven percent higher risk of heart attack and stroke."

Denise; (☍﹏⁰) I'm not tasty. I swear.

Mr. wolf: (・-・.) females were never smart anyway. If she were smart, she would have known running is useless.

Denise nodded firmly, "Yeah. You better take my words seriously. You'd hate to be the one who died for the rest to find out."

She proceeded to try to walk away. He still followed.

"Don't come any closer," she was getting frustrated, "I- I. Do you understand me?"

The wolf nodded.

"Good stay awa- OH MY GOD! You just nodded," she was seriously impressed, "Don't try to eat me."

By some unknown sorcery, the wolf morphed into a man. Yes, of course, he was naked. "I'm not going to eat you."

Denise: ....

Denise: "..." *blink* *blink*

still Denise: ゞ◎Д◎ヾ

She turned ashen. She could only silently raised her finger to point at him. She couldn't start asking how he morphed, he'd have to start explaining from how she got there in the first place. But still, she was not calm.

She had read plenty of books about werewolves. She knew all about how Jacob always turned into a wolf and vice verser in front of everyone. It even looked cool. But watching the real thing was straight-out freaky. It's like watching that tree that has been acting like a tree all year long finally morph into a snake and it walks away.

The wolf man cupped her pointed finger between his hands and smiled, showing off a fine set of canines.

Denise shook her head to try and clear it then pulled back her finger.

"Then why are you following me?" She asked.

Unlike her, he was white with grey eyes and black long hair. Denise's mind hadn't come around to the fact that he was naked. She was still on Mars about the fact that a wolf had just turned into a human and it was speaking to her.

"Well, let's see," he said as though giving it some thought, "you wandered off into my territory from who knows where. I can't tell which clan you're from because your scent doesn't relate to any. Your attire is quite weird and I've never seen a female with this shade of skin," then he held one of her braids," or this kind of hair."

Denise slapped her braid out of his hands, the recent pain was still throbbing at her scalp. "Don't touch."

A while back while in his cave, he had suddenly picked up a queer scent in his territory. He came out to confront whatever it was. That's when he found this little black thing.

He had observed for a while, wondering if it was dangerous. But the black female only let out curses and stared at the forest. After waiting, he finally got bored and let known his presence.

The little thing didn't attack but attempted to run. He came to the conclusion that it is weak and fairly stupid. So what he decided to do was to..

"I'm going to kill you."

In his defense, she was a queer new thing with questionable origin. It suddenly appeared in his territory, he didn't even sense it approach. If he let it go, it might cause more harm than he could ever imagine.

"Eh!" Denise could only stare wide-mouthed.

She blinked and looked at the smirking wolf. Was he just playing with her?

"Are you serious?" She asked. Who tells someone that they are going to kill them so casually?

He nodded, "Definitely," as he said so, his hand morphed to show off long sharp black claws. His hand dove straight for her neck at a speed blind to human eyes.

Now, okay! What does anyone do in such a situation? Of course Denise's brain was confused. The greatest primal value is survival. When suddenly faced with extinction, the brain cells start going haywire, sending all kinds of electric impulses.

"AH!" After mere nanoseconds of evaluation of thousands of ideas, this is what the brain cells agreed on. "YOU'RE NAKED!" She covered her eyes, "DON'T THINK YOU CAN FIT IN MY CLOTHES."

This reminded her of those times when she wrote an stupid answer because she was panicking in the exam. Only for the teacher to bring it up during corrections with a clear reference.

Teacher; up till now I can't believe someone wrote such an answer. The question was: Why does the sky appear blue? Answer; it is normally like that.

Class: Waaaaa! Haaaaaa! Wabababa! Sasasa! Heehiiihaaaa. Heehooo! Jajajaja!

Teacher; Who was it who wrote that? Put your hand up. Wait- I think it was Denise. Denise wasn't it you?

Denise; (¤﹏¤) (eh! Teacher, isn't stalking handwritings too much?) Ah! How can it be me? I wrote the blue light travels fastest because of its short wavelength hence the sky appears blue. Later the sky appears red because red light has the longest wavelength and travels furthest.

Teacher; Ah! Really? Let me see your paper.

Denise; ⚆ᗝ⚆ Teacher there's no need. I've already read it for you.

Teacher; *already walking towards her* let me see. It must be you who wrote that.

Class; hhhhaaaahha.

Denise; really don't bother yourself. We are already wasting time for corrections.

In truth, she wrote the stupid answer and was indeed very ashamed.

But it served its purpose, she got to live for a second more. But she was still on death row. She had just arrived in the queer world, she didn't know anything about it and was already dying.

"What would I need your clothes for? My fur can provide warmth in a blizzard. Why would I need your pieces of cloth?" He asked, genuinely confused.

Her hands went to the hand on her neck to try to pry it off. Her feet went to his chest to push him away. At that point, she had a good view of her pieces of cloth.

Her high-waist beige french shorts only covered a third of her thick thighs. The brown quarter socks and the white light tight crop top. Sincerely, everything looked like pieces of cloth.

But it wasn't time to think about clothes.

Denise; Come on Denise think. Observe. Explain. Solution.

She quoted what she normally did in chemistry experiments. It had long been her mantra when she was faced with a problem.

Observation; probability of decease.

Explanation; - right she needed an explanation.

She took her hands off her eyes and back to his hands to prevent them from chopping her neck, "Why do you want to kill me?"

"I have already told you."

"But what will you benefit from it?"

He thought for a moment then said, "If I kill you, more of your kind will not step into my territory."

"You're acting like I'm dangerous. Look at me. I'm totally defenseless. Even if many of my kind came, don't you think you can easily defeat them." She was still struggling to pry his hands off her.

He shrugged, "I can. But I'd rather not be disturbed."
