A Quick Kiss

The driver asked, "Sir, where are we going?" as soon as he got into the car. He instantly looked in the rearview mirror.

What made you think it would be a good idea to take me to our house today? I don't know what this person is saying. Earlier, he had scratched the draft I had done and left me too exhausted to do the draft he wanted, and then he was going to take me home with him? What is he thinking at this point? Is it possible that he has a headache or that a good spirit has possessed him? The thoughts that ran through Natalie's head as she bent down and fiddled with her fingers were as follows.

"We're headed to Olive Street, on Lomachid Avenue," Kenzo said after taking a deep breath and glancing in the rearview mirror.

After hearing what he had just heard, Natalie's eyes widened in surprise and she muttered, "How did he find our home address?"

"Are you saying something?" Said Kenzo to Natalie as he looked into her eyes.

Natalie instantly responded with a shake of her head and the words, "That's petty! Ignore me at your peril."

The question is: how did Kenzo find out where I lived? Wait, I emailed my resume, so maybe he is aware of my residency! The reason I hope he knows the location of my home is because...he cares about me. What are my thoughts on the subject? It's inappropriate for you to think and feel those things about Kenzo because, firstly, he's my boss! Keep your composure! That's what Natalie thought as she looked at Kenzo.

"Do I have a dirty face?" Inquired Kenzo, because he had the distinct impression that Natalie had been staring at him for a long time.

Due to the awkwardness he had created, Natalie averted her gaze and replied, "It's not you I'm looking at!"

With a controlled smile, Kenzo asked, "If I'm not what you're looking at, what are you looking at?"

"I'm looking... out the window next door," Natalie muttered, clenching her fist and muttering under her breath.

Kenzo responded with a shake of his head and the question, "Are you sure?"

"Of course!" Natalie answered immediately, and her cheeks flushed with excitement.

When it started to rain again, Natalie remained silent for a while longer, her eyes fixed on the outside world.

Even though it's been a while, I still remember what my mother told me: "Let the rain kiss you and let the rain hit your head with drops of silvery liquid. Let the rain serenade you to sleep. I don't know why, but every time it rains, I'm glad. Waiting out the storm is not an option in life. It's about learning to dance in the rain, and that's what it's all about." Wait, do I have an umbrella with me? That's what Natalie's thoughts run through her head.

Natalie rummaged through her purse and discovered she had forgotten her umbrella. She muttered, "What happened to my umbrella? All I know is that I put it in here, but where did it go? What happened to my umbrella? Did I leave it at the office or at home?"

Natalie's nervousness was noticed by Kenzo, as if someone was watching her, and he asked her, "What are you looking for specifically? You don't have an umbrella, do you?"

Natalie let out a long sigh before replying, "Maybe I forgot to bring the umbrella with me."

Kenzo laughed again, almost as if mocking his own foolishness, and continued, "I can't believe HR hired you. You're so stupid."

Natalie said nothing in response to Kenzo's assertions, but she mentally parried him word for word.

What exactly is his problem with me? Not because I forgot to bring an umbrella, but because he said something terrible to me! Is that really how he communicates with everyone around him, or is that just how he talks to me? That's what Natalie's thoughts are thinking as she watches every drop of rain fall outside.

When the car comes to a complete stop a few minutes later, it's still raining heavily outside.

"Thank you for bringing me to my house, sir!" Commented Natalie as she grabbed the side of the car to try to open it, but was unsuccessful.

When Natalie couldn't open the car door, she stared at Kenzo with bewilderment in her eyes, and he smiled.

Kenzo couldn't look Natalie in the eye, and he admitted as much. "You'll have to wait until later, since it's still pouring rain."

Since it was pouring heavily, Natalie did nothing but listen to Kenzo's instructions.

Is he a source of concern to me? What if he's just sorry for what he did to me? Maybe that's the case! Is it okay if I call Daisy? That's exactly what Natalie had in mind, and she pulls her phone out of her purse right away.

Natalie contacts Daisy right away, but Daisy doesn't pick up the phone until she gets a text from Natalie first.

"Do you need something, Natalie? I'm sorry, but I'm at work right now and can't help you." Natalie giggled as she read the message.

Natalie grumbled and replied to Daisy's message with the following, "But, you're still at work, so I wouldn't have mentioned anything about bringing me an umbrella. Please accept my apologies for the inconvenience."

The question is: what am I going to do? I don't want to be stuck in the car with Kenzo for too long. Why is it pouring rain right now, especially since I forgot to bring an umbrella? Are the heavens displeased with me right now? What is the source of my bad luck today? Those were the thoughts running through Natalie's head as she stared at the screen of her phone.

Natalie couldn't wait to be with Kenzo, even though the heavy rain hadn't stopped for a few minutes.

Natalie mustered up the strength to comment, "Sir, it looks like the rain will hold off for a bit, so I'll hurry up and run to our house," before turning to look at Kenzo.

"Do you have an umbrella with you?" Inquired Kenzo as he looked in his car's rearview mirror and asked his driver.

"I have an umbrella, sir!" said the driver, nodding his head after hearing the comment.

"Can I borrow your umbrella first?" Kenzo said this when his emotions were completely absent.

"Of course, sir!" In an instant, the driver responded and sat down with the umbrella at his side before handing it to Natalie.

Natalie took it and said, "Thank you so much for your help! Take comfort in the fact that I will return the umbrella tomorrow."

Natalie was about to get out of the car when she realized she couldn't open the car door.

Why won't you open the car door? Is it a broken door or has it been locked on purpose? What is the best way to open it? Is it possible that you have damaged the car door? When Natalie realized that she couldn't open the car door, the questions running through her head flooded her mind.

As Natalie's eyes were full of worry as she looked at Kenzo, he walked over to her and opened the car door.

However, in an unexpected turn of events, Natalie turned to Kenzo and whispered, "Thank you..." but their lips connected as they exchanged the words.

Natalie was shocked when their lips first connected and her cheeks turned red. When she recovered from the shock, she turned her face away from him and avoided looking into his eyes for the rest of the day.

To calm herself, Natalie took a deep breath, mostly because her heart was beating so fast. Then she exclaimed, "Please accept my apology! I didn't do anything... I didn't mean to kiss... kissed you on the lips."

When my heart starts beating so fast, I wonder what is going on. Do I need to see a doctor to determine if I have a heart condition? What emotion does this trigger? Is it possible that I am going crazy or that the man in front of me is captivating me? That's what Natalie's thoughts are thinking as she feels nervous.

Natalie was taken aback when Kenzo leaned over to her and gently touched the side of her cheek as if he was analyzing every inch of her face, something Natalie was completely unaware of.

"What... What do you intend? What...?"

When Kenzo kissed Natalie a second time, Natalie didn't have time to finish what she was going to say.

That was the point at which Natalie's eyes grew wide as if her heart was racing and desperately wanted to escape her rib cage. The butterflies in Natalie's belly seemed to indicate that she was floating on cloud nine at those moments.

Natalie is exceptionally disoriented and has no idea where she is going. Her knees go weak, her whole body goes limp, and any concern she had before locking lips has vanished.

After that quick kiss, Kenzo says the same thing as Natalie, "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to do that."

Meanwhile, Kenzo returned to his seat and settled back while Natalie was still shaking and shivering.

What does this man want? Is he delirious or what? I'm not sure if I understand what he's saying anymore. What did he think when he kissed me? What did I think when I let him kiss me? No, not at all! What do I crave most? What makes me think of him?

As soon as she got out of the car, she didn't even bother to say goodbye because she clenched it tightly between her teeth.
