Truly An Unforgettable Lunch

Jin Ho had to wait for this light to dim a little before trying to see who it was. He looked from below as the person's face shone so brightly.

It was a woman and she was in a lovely pair of golden stilettos. Her legs were as firm as the pillars of the restaurant and they were so pretty. She was in a white strapless knee length dress with a white overcoat and had a golden purse in her hand. It seems like the combination of the golden purse and the white dress led to her illumination. But who was this woman?

Jin Ho and all the men in the restaurant, this includes the waiters, slowly examined her upper body. They started from her neck as the light slowly traveled up her body. Indeed, she was a portrait and even without a necklace, her neckline was so pretty that it needed no adornment. As she walked forward, the hair that kept bouncing at her back was so dark and silky. She had tucked one part of this envious hair behind her ear which had a small diamond earring stuck to it. At this point, all the women in the restaurant were obviously annoyed, but the best had not yet been seen. The lady's lips got all the men drooling. As people always struggled for the right lipstick, this lady had deep pink lips which needed little work. Her lips widened as she gave out a smile which got most of the men to take off their suits. This wasn't as a result of her lips but the indented marks on her cheeks, what a lovely dimple she had! And then, her little pointed nose made her so cute to resist. But there was something yet to be revealed. The part of the body which had the power to change minds, overthrow governments, crack business deals and even make babies poop unexpectedly was about to be unveiled.

All the men got up from their seats as they stared at the most seductive part of a woman's body; her eyes. Her lashes were straight yet curled upwards and very thick, just like the texture of her hair. Surprisingly, she hadn't worn fake ones and they served as the opener for the real masterpiece. Two crystal lakes with the purest of waters weren't enough to describe the clarity of these lustrous eyes. If she had blue eyes, then maybe all the men would have died from a beauty attack. But fortunately, she had brown eyes and yet she still looked lovely.

At this point, everyone was wondering where this woman was heading to. She walked past many men and still kept on going, until she got to a man in a white shirt.

He was struck by her beauty and yet managed to give out a charming smile.

"You… you are looking…" he was out of words.

"Weird right?" The lady asked.

"Like a fairy. Why are you so pretty?" He asked and caused her to react.

"What?" This was the first time that this lady had received such a deserving compliment. Or should I say this was the first time I was receiving such a compliment.

"Can't you see that everyone is staring at you?" Jin Ho said as he looked around the restaurant. Indeed, all eyes were on me.

"I thought it was because I looked weird", I confessed my thoughts out.

"That's not it. You look wonderfully beautiful. You always have, but today you look exceptionally beautiful", he said, causing some butterflies to dance in my stomach.

"I do?" I asked, feeling extremely shy. Min Ki had previously given me compliments but they didn't touch me as Jin Ho's. Was it because of Jin Ho's honesty? Is that what was melting my heart?

This guy was driving me crazy, but I wasn't going to jump into love blindly for the second time, hence I controlled my emotions just as my bestie, Ra Ra always did.

Trying to be a hard girl, I replied to Jin Ho saying: "Well, I am pretty without makeup so it's not surprising that I'm looking this way after wearing makeup."

That didn't put him away but rather did the contrary.

"Hold on. Are you saying that all along, you didn't have anything on your face?" His eyes blinked without stopping as he asked this question.

"Yes, why?" I inquired about the true meaning of his reaction.

In his mind, Jin Ho said: "And I still fell in love with your beauty. Amy, you are extremely gorgeous."

All of that was being said in his mind and not to me, hence I had every right to ask him: "Is everything okay?"

"Never put it on '', he gave a very awkward answer.

"What are you talking about?" I asked and he said in reply, "Never put on make-up again."

Disappointed, I said: "I told you it looks weird."

"Or else I don't know what I will do. I keep falling for you and I hate seeing other guys stare at you continually", he confessed. Just like that, Jin Ho made a straightforward confession.

"What?" I didn't know what to say and weirdly replied: "Alright. I will never put it on again. By the way, are you jealous?" I asked and he looked elsewhere.

Without looking at me, he said: "Why would I be? It's just that I feel uncomfortable when others are staring continuously at my date."

"Your date?" I asked as I thought this wasn't an official date.

"My friend, I mean", he reversed the earlier statement. At this point, I was starting to feel uncomfortable. But I must admit, he looked more uncomfortable than I did. And before I realized, I had drunk five glasses of water.

Jin Ho was confused as well and saw that the only way he could avoid saying something weirder was to get some food in his mouth. Therefore, it was time to call the rescuer.

"Waiter!" He called our rescuer.

"What would you like to order?" The rescuer/waiter asked.

"What would you like?" He asked me and I looked through the menu.

I looked at it two to three times and yet all I could read were foreign words written in Korean.

Using the menu as a shield, I blocked the waiter whilst whispering to Jin Ho. I told him: "Honestly, I don't know any of the dishes on their menu."

Understanding the seriousness of the situation, Jin Ho asked the waiter: "Do you have anything local?"

"What?" He asked as if he had never received such an order before. Nevertheless, a waiter will always be a waiter.

I smiled as I stared at the black bean noodles before me. "My favorite", I felt elated.

At that time, Jin Ho received a call and excused himself. Left alone, I started mixing the black bean noodles with so much enthusiasm. It seemed like I had forgotten that I was in a five star restaurant. Jin Ho came back inside only to find all the men staring at me.

He could hear them uttering all sorts of words. "So sexy", some said. "She's so pretty", others concluded.

But out of them all, he only attacked one. "Just check her out", one guy said to his friend as they took a video of me.

Jin Ho snatched the phone from the guy and he got furious. "What are you doing?" He asked.

"How dare you take a video of my girlfriend whilst she's eating?" Jin Ho asked and he had nothing more to say.

"I'm sorry. I didn't know that she was your girlfriend", he replied. But Jin Ho smashed his phone on the ground before taking out a few dollar bills.

"Get yourself a new one", he said as he handed the guy the money.

Once he sat by me, I asked with concern: "Was I being taped?"

In reply, he told me: "This is why you should look less pretty. There are many perverts around. These ones are the true perverts."

"Are you upset?" I asked as he looked very furious.

"Yes."

"Don't be. In fact, take advantage of this", I advised.

"What do you mean?" He asked and I dragged my chair right next to his. Afterward, I gently placed my head on his shoulder whilst linking arms.

"What are you doing?" He asked. "Taking revenge for you. Look at their expressions", I told him.

He did and could see teary eyes all around. Some were even biting their hands in pain.

Reading their lips carefully, he could tell that they were saying the following: "I'm so jealous. She's too good for him. Why don't I have such a pretty girlfriend?"

Now, he began to laugh. "See? It's working. They are feeling super uncomfortable now", I gave out a killer smile and they were asking the waiter if the ventilation could be improved.

"Amy, can you help me out whenever I need your help?" Jin Ho asked me.

"Yes, I can", I replied.

He then turned his face towards mine and bent his head slowly. With his positioning, everyone thought he was kissing me. But truthfully, he was saying: "Thanks for being so pretty, not on the outside but also on the inside."

I couldn't walk home after that wonderful experience. Truth be told, I was flying home. And when mom asked, "How did your date go?" I came back to reality.

"We just had lunch. It was not a date", I insisted.

"Whatever. How did it go?" She still asked. Dad was about to enter the house but after hearing us talk about a date, he placed his ears on the door like a stethoscope being used to check the heartbeat of a patient.

"Wonderful. All the guys were staring at me and Jin Ho walked over to them and said, 'Stop staring at my girlfriend'. He was so cool", I said in smiles.

"Which part amuses you? The guys watching you or Jin Ho calling you his girlfriend?" Dad asked as he entered.

Since i wasn't expecting such a question, I ended up being honest.

"Of course, Jin Ho calling me his…" I replied honestly before seeing my mistake. "I mean all of it", I said with a lot of tension.

"Amy?" Dad called me with that voice. "Do you like this guy?" He asked again with the same voice.

"Well… I…" I didn't know what to say but ended up saying...

"Like him. I will buy him", Jin Ho said elsewhere. He smiled whilst looking at the cute puppy.

"Amy sure likes this kind of dog. A dog that smiles", he mentioned whilst looking at the animal.

However, I said: "I don't know", and ran straight into my room. I was behaving like a teenager having a crush.

Dad laughed whilst saying: "I don't know, not I don't. It's okay, you will in due time."

Mom looked at him and shook her head in disbelief.

At the NIS Headquarters, a national emergency was about to occur.

Jin Ho's uncle was instructing one of the agents when another agent in the CyberCrime Unit appeared and told him: "Sir, someone is messing with our system again."

"Call Virel. Hurry!" He instructed him and ran to see what had happened.

The agent chased after him whilst trying to reach Virel. "He's not answering sir", he reported to the Cybercrime Department.

"Damn it. Call Jin Ho. Now!" He issued the next command.

"Yes sir", the agent replied and made the call. Once it went through, he handed the phone over to Jin Ho's uncle.

"What is it?" Jin Ho asked but after hearing the report from his uncle, he angrily said: "Those crooks. I will be right there. Hold them in the meantime." And just like that he carried the puppy to the NIS Headquarters.
