An Incoming Typhoon

Ra Ra chased after Jin Ho but couldn't catch up with him. Just then, Jang Sik came out and sighed heavily. He said: "Oh my gosh! He must be worried about Amy."

My bestie, Ra Ra drew near him and asked: "What are you talking about? What has happened to my friend?"

On the other hand, Jin Ho was already on the road and he was driving at an unimaginable speed.

His hands were shaking and he was sweating profusely. In his mind, he didn't want history to be repeated.

As the taxi I was on board drove through the road, I realized that the weather was looking unusual. All of a sudden, it had become dark all over, but this darkness was not like that of a normal rain. The darkness was so thick that one could take hold of it. This was getting me worried and so I asked the driver: "Mister, why does the cloud look so dark and scary?"

"It's the rain. There's no need to worry", he assured me. But I was still not certain. "You are heading to Seoul right?" He asked out of the blue.

"Yes", I replied.

"I hope you are aware of the increase in prices? You will need to pay higher than usual", he reminded me.

"That's not a problem. I will pay you once we get to Seoul", I replied.

"What a relief! This is why I like Seoul guys. You are so flexible and understanding", he said with a smiley face.

My mind was more focused on the weather than what he had to say. Now, it was getting windy.

Concerned, I told him once again: "The weather doesn't look good at all. Shouldn't we return?"

"Lady, don't worry about the weather. At times, it looks worse than this but nothing happens. It is just the rain", he said but his answer wasn't convincing.

Jin Ho had reached the highest acceleration mark, but if he could have gone faster than that he definitely would have gone for it.

As he drove, he couldn't help but recall those memories.

It was a rainy day and the clouds looked gloomy. Darkened with anger, it was thunderous and a violent wind blew as he and his parents were coming home. He couldn't remember the face of the one driving, but he and his mom were in the backseat. Heavy drops of water started falling down immensely and the wipers began waving their hands as they cleared the screen which his father was looking on. He was scared and his mom held his hand tightly. But all of a sudden…

Jin Ho pulled the brakes. He couldn't move any further. I was in danger but the memory had paralyzed him. He couldn't drive the car anymore. Closing his eyes, he tried to turn his mind from that memory and began to think about other stuff. None worked for him until he started thinking about me.

He opened his eyes, and realized that he had no time on his hand.

With a renewed spirit, he started the car and sped off.

He was drawing closer to me and soon, he saw the taxi from a distance. Driving at maximum speed, he overtook the taxi and turned his car to the right, blocking the road.

The driver immediately stepped on the brakes and stopped the car. Angry with Jin Ho's actions, he stepped out of the car and raised his voice at him.

"Hey, are you crazy?" He shouted at him. But Jin Ho also got out of his car and sped at the man whilst saying, "You piece of trash, take this!"

He jumped into the sky and kicked him with his left foot. The high shot kick had enough power to throw the driver into the sky and move him some distance away from his car before landing him on the ground with a loud thud.

Seeing what had happened, I got out of the car and called out his name.

"Jin Ho? Jin Ho, what is going on?" I asked as I couldn't comprehend the meaning of his actions.

He ran towards me and placed his hands on my shoulder whilst panting heavily. "Are you okay?" He asked with a soft voice. Looking in his eyes, I could see his fear.

"Yes, why?" I asked as I wanted to know why he was so scared.

"Thank goodness", he said with a big sigh of relief and before I could tell his next move, he drew me into his arms and held me tightly.

"Jin Ho, what are you doing?" I asked whilst locked in his embrace.

"Just stay still", he said to me as he stroked his hand through my hair. I didn't understand why he was doing this but I didn't shove him aside either. I was convinced that he definitely had a good reason for his actions.

A few seconds later, he let go of me and before he could make an explanation, we heard the sound of a motorcycle approach us at full speed. The rider drifted away from Jin Ho's car and stopped the vehicle at once. The man seated behind the driver got down from the bike and went to the side of the road to throw up. Meanwhile, the rider took off the helmet and waved her hair behind. She turned around and unexpectedly, I saw my bestie.

"Amy!" She exclaimed as she got down from the motorcycle and ran towards me.

"Ra Ra?" I asked myself but after feeling her body against mine as she hugged me, I realized that this was reality.

"Amy, are you okay?" She asked and her eyes were quite teary.

"Yes. Why is everyone asking me if I'm okay?" I asked and the boy who had just returned from throwing up, replied: "I don't know what's going on here but the typhoon is drawing closer."

"Typhoon?" I asked.

Jin Ho quickly took my hand and said to me: "We need to go. Now."

"Shouldn't she come with me?" Ra Ra asked but Jin Ho didn't let go of me. Rather he told her: "You two should bring him along."

"What?" Ra Ra asked as she looked at the unconscious driver on the floor.

"At least give us a helping hand!" She exclaimed as Jin Ho opened the door for me.

Jin Ho ignored them and sat in the driver's seat. As the two tried to place the body in the taxi, he told me: "Amy, I'm going to drive at super speed. Will you be okay?"

"Yes", I replied though I hadn't fully grasped the situation.

Nevertheless, he took hold of my hand in an effort to calm me down.

"Will you be able to drive with one hand?" I asked and with a smile, he said confidently: "I'm a pro at driving. Just close your eyes and know that I'm here with you no matter what."

"We can hear you!" Virel shouted from behind and it sounded in Jin Ho's car.

"Darn it. That stupid device", Jin Ho muttered.

The two waved at us as Ra Ra shouted, "We are ready!"

"Let's go!" Jin Ho exclaimed and they got into the taxi.

Ra Ra this time went to the driver's seat. She wasn't going to sit in a car in a dangerous moment, and allow the driver to move at a speed of 30km/hr.

"V, keep it together. Hmm?" She said to the fear-filled engineer.

"Sure", he replied.

Our car was the first to move as Ra Ra drove behind us.

Back at Jang Sik's residence, everyone was worried after hearing the news. What worried them the most was that we might not be able to make it due to the speed of typhoons.

"Oh my! Hope the Lord brings them back safely", Jang Sik's grandma prayed.

"Buddha, please bring them back safely", his sister mentioned. And Jang Sik himself also said in prayer: "Father, please save these kids."

As they were waiting for our arrival, Jang Sik's nephew arrived with his tablet in hand. "Breaking news!" He said loudly.

"What is it?" They asked him and he revealed the worst.

"The typhoon has started", he replied. Everyone's heart sank. They hadn't known us for long but they treasured us a lot.

"What? Wasn't it supposed to start an hour later?" Jang Sik asked.

"Yes, but it has started", the high schooler replied.

"What would happen to those kids then?" His sister asked and everyone gave out a heavy sigh.

The fear of the unknown hit everyone, even those in Seoul. As my mom was about to pour herself a cup of tea, the ceramic cup in her hand fell to the ground and broke into pieces.

"Honey, are you okay?" My dad asked as he quickly attended to her.

"Something is not right. Amy is in danger", she mumbled.

"What are you talking about?" Dad asked. "Call her", she instructed and looked haggard.

"But Ra Ra said she is fine", dad tried to reassure her but she shouted at him with the instruction, "Call my daughter now!" He promptly obeyed.

He dialed a few times but couldn't reach me. "It's not going through", he reported.

That got mom extremely worried. Crumbling to the ground, she beat her chest in grief as she cried out: "Please Lord, I don't know why I'm having this feeling but please protect my daughter." Indeed, her mother's instincts were right.

Right there in Seoul, a secret army base was also plotting something bigger than a typhoon. But their plan was not going as they wished for. A man dressed in casual clothes entered the office of a man in a black suit. The man in a black suit sat in a position which denied access to his face.

The man in casual wear made the report.

"Sir, we have a problem", he said.

"What is it again?" The man in suit who was the boss asked.

"It looks like the NIS (National Intelligence Service) have detected our location", he replied.

The boss nearly turned around. "What? How did this happen?" He asked with a lot of anger blazing in his chest.

"I'm sorry sir", the man apologized.

"Sorry? Never mention that word again. It might be your last on earth. Now explain to me what transpired", the boss ordered.

"The thing is… our system got hacked. We lost the cyber war again", he honestly revealed.

"Didn't I tell you to find a competent guy to handle our cyber security system?" The boss asked.

"We tried to locate that guy, Virel but… he works for someone else'', he replied.

"Who?" Asked the boss. "This man sir", the man replied as he dropped a picture before a screen which reflected the picture to the boss.

"Ri Won Taek?" The boss asked as he recognized the picture. He looked tense and couldn't sit down well.

"Sir, are you okay?" The man asked.

"How is this possible? I… I… did it myself so why?" The boss looked totally confused after seeing the picture.

Not wanting his fear to be known, he shouted at the man, saying: "What are you still doing here? Won't you leave?"

"Sorry sir. Then I would take my leave", the man quickly disappeared from the office.

Banging his hand against the wall, the boss said: "That piece of trash! After I killed you, you still made it alive. Hold on, if Ri Won Taek is alive then… could it be that the kid might also be alive?" He asked with alarm.

The boss then called the man from before once again and told him: "Find out if Won Taek is working alone or if he has the backing of a higher-up. Also, find out if Ri Won Jae's son is alive."

"Yes sir", he replied and left his office. This investigation was going to lead to a turnaround of events.
