19 Invitation to a Variety Show

Feng Lanchu never imagined that the project Professor Zhong had recommended her for was a variety show.

Yang TV and the Ecological Wildlife Nature Reserve had jointly created a variety show called "Protectors of Our Home." The show would invite a few celebrities to go to Hoh Xil accompanied by specialists and call on humankind to protect the ecological environment through their experience. 

The production team had gotten in touch with Mr. Zhong through the National Ecological Resources Administration. Of course, their intention was not for the old professor to go on the show. Instead, they wanted him to recommend an experienced wildlife researcher participate in the filming as a specialist. 

For there to be a highlight, their first choice was to select a female researcher. 

Feng Lanchu naturally became the most suitable candidate.

After finding out about the project, Feng Lanchu's initial excitement dulled.

"This project..." She frowned disdainfully.

"I thought the same as you in the beginning. But they faxed me a program outline. It looked quite interesting. I think you should read the information before deciding."

Professor Zhong handed a thick pile of papers to Feng Lanchu.

"Is the celebrity lineup in there?" She turned over the documents doubtfully.

"Of course not. The project proposal only lists the places you all will be visiting. The celebrities have signed non-disclosure agreements. How could they possibly write that down for others to see?"

"You are quite knowledgable about what they do." Mrs. Zhong teased.

Mr. Zhong smiled proudly when he heard the words, "He who does not know needs to have at least common sense."

 Feng Lan couldn't help but be amused as she listened to the conversation between the two.

"Don't laugh, go home, think about it, and let me know if you will do it in two days." Mr. Zhong gave her a sideways glance.

"Will do." Feng Lanchu nodded helplessly.

"Alright, why would you ask her to go to Hoh Xil? The Chu is not single anymore. You should consider her family."

"That's why I am giving her one night to think about it."

Not long ago, Feng Lanchu had complained that she was getting bored in Huaixiang. That was why the professor had wanted her to take on this project. After all, she would only be gone a few days a month. It was not a difficult job, and it paid very well. Furthermore, it could also bring her some fame. This was an opportunity that many in academia would die for.

"It's up to you whether you want to go or not."

Feng Lanchu quickly browsed through the information. The program would be recorded over three months, and they would film ten days a month. The location they had set for the filming was the Hoh Xil Wildlife Reserve. There, the celebrities will get to experience the daily lives of different professions such as volunteers, animal researchers, forest rangers, etc. The last stop of the trip would be the Kekexili National Nature Reserve Suonan Dajie Protection Station.

The specialists accompanying them would mainly serve as their leader and provide the cast with information. They just had to assist the stars when they encounter danger or need help in the wild.

If Feng Lanchu had been tempted when she got to this part of the document, then the last piece of information definitely sealed the deal. The document stated that her remuneration would be seven figures. 

She counted the zeros again incredulously, and her eyes widened.

Professor Zhong saw through her and said, "You don't have to count anymore. The remuneration is indeed generous. After all, there would be dangers going into Hoh Xil. The production team naturally has to be generous." 

Well, what else was there to consider? Feng Lanchu set the information down with great enthusiasm before saying sincerely, "Thank you for your recommendation. I will definitely help them well and will not disappoint you."

Well, well, providence had come through just in her time of need. She had just been thinking of how to get her hands on extra cash.
