73 Nightmare

In the hotel room, Xu Anyi put on a white bathrobe and dried her hair using the hair dryer before stepping out of the bathroom.

When she walked out, she saw Si Mu right away, but he had changed and his hair was no longer wet either. He was sitting on the couch when she walked out, and he looked over at her, sitting up straighter, "Are you okay?"

She looked at him and nodded, smiling faintly, "Thank you."

He frowned slightly, "You have to stop thanking me. We are married."

Xu Anyi paused for a moment then slowly walked over to him, sitting down on his lap on the couch. Then, she silently hugged him, burying her face into his chest.

Si Mu was surprised at her sudden act of affection, but after a moment, he hugged her back, not saying a word.

They stayed like that for several minutes in the silence of the room, and all you could hear was the sound of the air conditioner.

Just as Si Mu was wondering if she had fallen asleep, she lifted her head up and took a deep breath, looking at him with a more genuine smile this time.

Then, she stood up, her legs slightly weak, "I want to go home."

Si Mu nodded and stood up as well, holding onto her hand, "Let's go home."

After going home, Xu Anyi entered her room to go to sleep right away. After sending her to her room, Si Mu also returned to his own room, but he sat on his bed, unable to fall asleep.

He did not know what had happened to Xu Anyi except that she had fallen into the pool, but something told him that her strong reaction tonight had something to do with her falling into the pool. But what was it?

He pulled out his phone and was about to dial a number, but after a few seconds, he frowned and put his phone away.

She had to have her reasons for not wanting to tell him. He can wait until she was ready to tell him what happened. . .

Xu Anyi turned off her lights right away after changing into her nightgown and she crawled into her bed, her eyes wide open.

She stared blankly at the ceiling, not wanting to think about everything that had happened tonight.

Everything up until. . . falling into the pool had gone according to her plan. She had successfully ruined Xia Yiwei's birthday party. But she wasn't happy. And it wasn't because of Xia Yiwei.

She took a deep breath and slowly closed her eyes, letting the fatigue take over her as she soon fell asleep.

She felt cold.

So cold.

Xu Anyi opened her eyes and found that she wasn't wearing anything. She looked around her, and she was back in that same corner of the cramped prison cell.

She wanted to stand up, because it was dirty and cold in the corner, but she was too weak. All of her limbs were bruised and sore, and then she heard the sound of laughing.

The high-pitched laughter as several people showed up at the door, but she could not see their faces.

Her heartbeat sped up as she wanted to run away, but there was nowhere she could run. They continued to laugh.

She was cold. But she was also sweating at the same time.

Then, she heard the sound of the hose turning on and she opened her mouth to scream-

Xu Anyi jerked awake as she sat up straight on the bed, her nightgown sticking to her sweaty back, but she was shaking from the cold. . . or was it fear?

Her breathing was quick as she tried to calm her running heartbeat down, but she could not push the memories away. That dream had seemed to real. . .

She had forgotten all about it after all this time, but it only took one accident to bring all those horrible memories back from from the darkest corner of her mind, and she wanted to push it away, but she couldn't.

She could not sleep anymore and she did not want to sleep anymore, because she did not want to have any more of those dreams, so she slowly got out of the bed and went over to turn the lights on.

As she clicked the lights on, her bedroom door was pushed open, and the sudden light was combined with the sight of Si Mu as he stood outside her door, wearing his pajamas.

He seemed just as surprised to see her standing there, and then he cleared his throat, stuttering, "I heard you screaming. . . So I came over to make sure you are okay."

Xu Anyi nodded, wiping away the sweat on her forehead, "I'm fine. . . I just had a nightmare."

Si Mu frowned as he looked at her, wanting to comfort her in some way, but after a few seconds, he merely nodded and slowly took a step back, "Okay. . . Let me know if you need anything."

He stood there for a moment longer, and then he slowly turned around to leave. However, before he could reach the end of the hallway, he suddenly heard her call, "Si Mu!"

He turned around and saw that she had walked out into the hallway, and was facing him, looking slightly nervous.

"Can you stay with me tonight?"
