3 Chapter 2: The Raizen God beast

CAAAAAWWWWWWWWWWW!

The high-pitched bird cries resonated all over the forest as the silver figure appeared behind Lucien. It was a mighty man with the head of an eagle, two pairs of wings, and all talons for hands and feet. This mighty figure carried an aura of its own, entirely different from that of Lucien and upon arrival, it gazed at the human in front in disdain before shifting its gaze to Lucien after which its gaze softened.

It was said that the God beasts vanished centuries ago after birthing hybrid offsprings. While the humans say they participated in a bloody war which cost them their lives, beast-men believe they just left and they are still watching over them from the heavens.

"Wh…." Brian was left speechless as his courage wavered greatly when faced with the image of their Raizen founding God beast. The way it gazed at the youth and the surrounding environment showcased a level of intelligence, meaning that Lucien was the one controlling it.

"That's enough!"

Those words resonated from both sides of the forest and soon enough men dressed in Green armor rushed towards Brian's side with their hands placed on the hilt of their weapon. Meanwhile, men dressed in loose silver robes shot out of another part of the forest, reaching Lucien at an incredible speed. They all gazed at the silver figure on Lucien's back with a hint of pride in their eyes and when they compared him to the human youth who had a stick in his hand, they couldn't help but scoff.

The Lucardo family and the Raizen family are both noble families of the Kingdom. Each of them possesses territories which they rule over and the Tron forest is the only neutral zone between the two territories. Lucien and Brian have been friends since they were little. They both met on this spot by chance when they wandered away on their own and since then they have always met here occasionally. As they grew their friendship slowly turned to rivalry mainly because Lucien views the Lucardo family as weak humans who couldn't even succeed as mages. He refused to accept fighters since he saw this as something anyone can do, even the weakest person can grow to become a decent fighter if they have the right resources and enough determination to carry them through the training period.

"Saved by your guards again… Next time we meet, I won't on you!" Lucien scoffed as the silver figure behind him slowly vanished.

"Randolf, let's go!" Lucien said while walking away indifferently.

The Raizen is a god beast ranked amongst the top of the mid-tier magic beasts. It is blessed with a strong affinity to the Lightning and wind element, granting its descendants swift movements and incredibly deadly abilities. Even though it's not a high-tier magic beast, it is still considered a powerful magic beast amongst magic beasts in the mid-tier.

After the long war, just like other God beast descendants, the Raizen family were granted a territory of their own where they ruled over other god beast descendants with weak bloodlines. In every beast-man clan, main branches and then lesser branch. To maintain balance, nature made it difficult for god beasts to reproduce up to the point that in an entire generation, a clan of beast-men is considered lucky if they can bring forth two or three offspring. With this, their numbers have always been few, and to bypass these restrictions placed on them by nature and in a bid to avoid extinction, beast-men began taking human wives. Even though their reproduction rate was still considered slow when compared to humans, it was still a hundred times faster than when they solely depended on inbreeding. But this led to descendants with weaker bloodline.

Being proud beasts, those with the stronger bloodline called themselves the main branch, and only members of the main branch have a chance to become the clan Patriarch, alongside other special treatments granted to them. To keep their linage pure, members of the main branch adopted inbreeding once again in a bid to keep their bloodline pure. While it's possible for the members of the lesser branch can give birth to an offspring with a strong bloodline, it is rare, but when it happens that child is accepted into the main branch and forced to leave his or her family behind.

Lucien is the direct descendant of the current clan patriarch and what he did earlier is usually called the shift by many. It's a process where a beast-man taps into the power of their ancestors, drawing enough power to alter their physical appearance by taking key properties of their god beasts to enhance their fighting capabilities. In normal circumstances, it takes a long while before a beats-man can master this ability but Lucien achieved this at a young age due to his powerful bloodline which is considered the purest they have seen in three centuries.

While people are born with two elements known as the primary and secondary elements. While their affinity to the primary element is stronger, their affinity to the second element is usually weaker but Lucien's affinity to Raizen's core elements of wind and lighting is at the same level, making it look like both elements are his primary elements.

He is considered a genius that comes only once in a century and the entire clan sees him as their pride and hope.

"You must not leave the castle without guards my lord... you are the clan's pride and hope... if anything happens to you, your grandfather will have our heads" Randolf said that while rubbing his neck softly. based on the expression on his face, everyone could tell he was visualizing the punishment been carried out.

"Hahahaha! Don't worry uncle, I am Lucien of the Raizen clan! grandson of Lukas Raizen... that name shall never know defeat!" Lucien laughed heartily.

while in public, he acted cold, mature, and proud but when he was around family, Lucien acted his age, like any other cocky fifteen-year-old.
