Nathan continued hiding in the dark, waiting for an opportune moment for him to strike. He was an assassin of the Crimson serpent assassination organization.

He was currently out on a mission, to assassinate a certain noble, a count. The count was said to be quite evil, and he was harassing those that were below him. So, some could not hold it in anymore, and decided to assassinate him, by using the Crimson serpent assassination organization.

The one who was giving the mission this time was none other than Nathan. Within the organization, he could be considered as quite reputable, considering that the one who was his father, the one who had adopted him, was actually an elder within the organization.

Himself was quite talented, allowing him to be able to reach within the top ranks of the elite assassins of the organization. So of course, he had already completed a lot of missions, and he was quite well known within the country in which the organization was located in.

Since he was an assassin, it was very clear that he had killed a lot of people, but even then, he did not feel uncomfortable about it. After all, his adopted father already understood his character, and for that reason, those that Nathan was given a chance of killing were definitely those who had committed great atrocities.

And like now, the count had already committed a lot of atrocities, which made Nathan not to feel uncomfortable about killing him. And right now, he was here, waiting for a chance for striking.

He was currently on top of a tree, inside a deep forest. The entire forest was quite dark, allowing him to blend with the darkness, which was a characteristic of an assassin.

He continued staying on top of the tree, without making any movements, as if he was a statue. If a person actually saw him, they would think that it was a human sculpture that had been placed on top of the tree, considering that Nathan's eyes were completely closed, and he was simply listening to the sounds in his surroundings.

Not far away from where he was, there was a great river that was flowing eastwards. The river possessed quite some ferocious crocodiles, and of course, they were mutated, and not ordinary ones, considering that they possessed immense strength.

According to the information that he had received, the count was going to go through the path that was located inside this forest. Of course, this forest connected the area where the count ruled, which was at the very border of the country, with another nation.

Since the count had gone out in secret, it was obvious that only a few people knew about it, and even the count himself had gone out with only a few people, to avoid being detected. A count of a country going to another nation was definitely suspicious.

Nathan continued to relax, while at the same time, making sure that he was prepared to strike the moment that the enemy appeared. It was just that he had already been here for over an hour, but even then, nobody had appeared.

According to the information that he had received, the enemy was actually supposed to be here during the past 20 minutes, but even then, there was not even a single shadow that could be seen.

The forest itself was quite dangerous, but even then, with the power level that Nathan possessed, it was not impossible for him to be able to venture within the forest unhindered.

Nathan continued waiting, and just like that, another hour went by. For a moment, Nathan who had closed his eyes finally opened them. The black eyes looked towards the direction that he was expecting the count to come from with a hint of killing intent within them.

There was a small frown that was currently etched on his face as he looked towards direction. At the same time, he thought to himself, 'Could it be that the Intel that I received is false? But how can that be possible considering that the one who gave me the information and the mission is actually my own father?'

The relationship that existed between Nathan and his father was quite good. Additionally, his father was always pushing him so that he could get better everyday. Additionally, it seemed that his father was having an idea of making sure that Nathan became the leader of the Crimson serpent assassination organization.

So, according to all the evidence that he possessed, it was very clear that his father would not have done something that would make him he waste his time here, rather than training.

Silently, he continued waiting, while hoping that the information that he received would be right. But even after 3 hours had gone by, there was actually no sign that the enemy was going to approach.

Additionally, night had already began setting in, and the already dark forest became even darker, making it difficult for a person to be able to see. But of course, that was not a problem for Nathan considering that he possessed a skill that enhanced his vision.

So, although he could not see clearly, at least, compared to an ordinary human, he was definitely better. So, he could view the forest, and for some reason, he began frowning, while feeling that there was something that was not right.

For the past over 30 minutes, the forest suddenly went silent. Even the chirping of birds had completely stopped, which was something completely unusual.

After a while, Nathan suddenly sensed that there was danger that was approaching. Without hesitation, he immediately leaped from the position that he was in on the tree, before landing on the ground heavily.

The moment that he moved away from the tree, the tree was immediately hacked down. The tree was actually cut into two pieces, from top to bottom. It was clear that if he had continued staying In the same position, he would have definitely been cut into two.

The moment that Nathan landed onto the ground, he wanted to look, to see who it was that was attacking him, one that he had not detected until now.

But just as he turned around to look, he detected danger coming from his left side. Without hesitation, he immediately bent backwards, narrowly dodging an arrow that flew past his face.

Nathan's heartbeat suddenly intensified. It was very clear that whoever it was that had come to attack this time was definitely targeting him, and they possessed information about where he was currently. Otherwise, it would be impossible for them to be able to detect him as he was hiding quite well.

But even then, just by judging from the strength of the two attacks that had been launched towards him, it was clear that those who were currently attacking were weaker than himself.

Nathan possessed the confidence that he would be capable of taking care of them. But the problem was that, it was not just two people who were attacking, but it was actually a group of over 20 people at the same time. Although it was true that none of them was stronger than Nathan, but even then, there was nothing that Nathan could do considering that he was being overnumbered.

Several attacks were launched towards him, and Nathan tried as hard as possible in order to make sure that he survived. At the same time, he understood that he had been betrayed. As for who it was that had betrayed him, he was not sure, but he could not believe that it was actually his own father.

But even then, he decided that if he managed to get out of here, he would definitely investigate about it. And if it was his own father who was doing this, he would definitely make sure that he paid for it

Nathan was not that good when it came to close combat, fighting an enemy directly. But instead, since he was an assassin, he was good in sneak attacks.

So, whenever a chance appear, he would definitely seize it, before killing an enemy. And in no time, although he had accumulated a lot of injuries, he had been capable of eliminating more than six people. With that, the pressure was actually supposed to reduce, but Nathan did not feel so at all.

Not to mention the fact that he had already consumed a lot of energy in order to deal with this large group that was continuously attacking him, each and every one of them wearing a mask just like himself, the injuries that he had suffered were also having an impact on his body.

His combat strength was continuously reducing, and since he was not fighting in an area where he was considered among the best, he was definitely overwhelmed by this group of weak people.

In the end of my after suffering great injuries, Nathan lay on the ground helplessly. At this moment, he could feel that his death was approaching. He had not expected that his end was going to be like this. But even then, he did not give up, thinking that he actually managed to succeed to survive in this situation, he would definitely make sure that those involved would pay.

But then again, something that dumbfounded him happened. That was the fact that the moment that he thought that this group was going to kill him, they actually did not, but instead, they simply carried him.

After a while, they finally arrived at the banks of the great river that was running through the forest. When they got here, Nathan's eyes suddenly widened, because he realized that there was someone here, someone that he was not expecting.

"I know that you did not expect to see me here boy. But it doesn't matter. Somebody wants you dead, and they used me as bait in order to deal with you. Since he is my friend, I'm going to kill you. Do you have any objections?" The count who was supposed to be the target, asked Nathan as he looked at him with a contemptuous gaze.

"Who…is it that…wants me dead?" Nathan forced out of those words. He wanted to know who it was that was behind all of this, giving false information, making him to end up in this situation.

"I'm sorry. I am a very cautious person. I don't really know much, but even then, I cannot risk allowing your ghost to know who it is that wanted you dead. You can come to haunt me, but you can definitely not go to haunt him." The count chuckled as he responded.

Before Nathan could say anything, the count raised his hand and waved it. Then in the next moment, Nathan who was still being carried was suddenly thrown into the river.

While he was falling into the river, he suddenly heard the count saying that he had actually never heard of an assassin dying of drowning. This was the first time that he wanted to make sure that he heard of it, and being the person who created the history.

Nathan did not have the strength to swim. In the end, he began gulping large amounts of water, as he began drowning.

Just as he was drowning and succumbing to his injuries, a miraculous event occurred. A golden light enveloped him, healing his wounds with an extraordinary speed. The water around him became isolated.

Perplexed, he wondered what was going on. 'What is happening? Who has saved me?' Thoughts ran up in his mind.

Suddenly, a prompt and a golden holographic screen appeared in front of him.
