17 The Goblin Cave [4]

The Goblin King now stood before Max, it was the enemy he had been traveling this long to finally fight, and here he was.

Max couldn't see his level as he was too far away, but he could tell that the king was way stronger than any of the goblins he had fought until now.

The king was way bigger and fatter than any other goblin he had met, and his clothes looked more "luxurious", even though they were only used to cover the sensitive parts of his body, he also had a crown made of human skulls on his head, carrying it like some kind of trophy showing all the adventurers he had killed.

"So..." the goblin king suddenly spoke, "you are the human that has been causing havoc in my kingdom and mercilessly slaughtering my troops..."

Max didn't say anything, he just kept looking at the king, he didn't feel like holding a conversation with a monster after all.

"You puny humans come here every time and are surprised once you are killed by my greatness, you won't be different boy," the goblin king was speaking to Max even though he thought he couldn't understand him, any person outside of the goblin race would just hear "groakk roak gorak gark~" after all, but Max was different.

"You're not the first adventurer to come here, nor will you be the last, I am the strongest goblin in this forest, no one can defeat me!" the king boasted as he stood up from his throne and grabbed a giant axe that was laying beside it, "let's see how long you can survive against me, human!"

The king jumped off the throne and landed on the ground, cracking the floor beneath him as he did so, then he started walking towards Max, who was still standing at the entrance of the room, unmoving with a neutral expression on his face.

"Don't think too highly of yourself," Max finally spoke once he finally saw the goblin king's level, "I'll be the first adventurer to kill you it seems."

[Goblin King - level 50]

Even though that boss monster was 10 levels above him, Max wasn't scared, he knew he could rely on his divination and skills to get him out of this situation even though the upgrade of his special ability didn't make him stronger.

"Oh...?" the goblin king raised his eyebrows, "a human that can speak monster tongue? I've never seen that before..."

Max didn't respond, instead, he activated his "weak point" skill, and soon, he noticed the red line drawn upon the monster's neck.

"Well, it doesn't matter, I'll kill you either way!" the goblin king roared as he charged at Max, swinging his axe at him.

But the black-haired boy was quick enough to dodge it, and he stabbed the monster's throat with his sword, however, the goblin's flesh was thick, and the boy's sword was unable to scratch him.

Their arena was big enough to hold at least a thousand men, so there was more than enough space to cause all the chaos they needed to as it wouldn't matter, nobody would intervene in their fight, and only one of them could get out of there alive.

"Damn it..." Max cursed under his breath as he dodged another attack from the goblin king, who swung his axe at him again, "my sword isn't sharp enough."

'Divination!' he called for his companion, 'what do I do?'

But it didn't answer, leaving Max alone with the monster, it had the funny habit of leaving him hanging every time he was in front of a desperate situation.

"You killed my soldiers... my children..." the king roared as he prepared himself to attack again, "makes me wonder who's the real monster..."

"Didn't know experience points had brains but it doesn't even bother me!" Max laughed and dashed forward, using his enhanced speed to try and catch the king off guard.

The Goblin King was huge, at least twenty times the size of the human boy, and his resistance was incredible as most of his levels must have gone for that stat, his speed though was extremely low, and that's what Max planned to use to his advantage.

"Kraaaaak!" the goblin king screamed as he tried to hit Max with his axe, but the boy was too fast for him, he dodged the attack and rolled behind the monster before running up his back and reaching his head once again.

But this was Max's biggest mistake: he wanted to use his blade to cut the goblin king's eyes, but he had gotten too confident for his own sake.

"You little piece of shit!" the goblin king turned around and tried to kick Max, and as the boy was in the air, he knew that he was unable to avoid it.

"Shit!" he cursed as he saw the goblin's feet right in front of him, and he knew that getting hit by that would be a death wish, "DIVINATION, HELP ME FOR ONCE DAMN IT."

'I'm gonna die,' time slowed around the boy for the third time, which was a curse for him as he would now have to slowly see his death approach him, "I don't wanna die!"

The image of his classmates mocking him, of those who tried to protect him, of the king and queen of the kingdom saying he was useless, and of that great mage sending him to this forest flashed through his head.

He remembered about his past life and how lonely he was there, about how he would meet the same end because of his inability to do anything right.

And even though he felt like he was falling into despair...

"NO!" he shouted internally, if nobody was here to help him, then he would get out of this situation alone!

And so using his entire determination and will in the hope of surviving this attack, he unlocked a new skill.

[New Skill: Double Jump]

[An assassin should be able to avoid every attack coming at him, but what happens when he is in the air? Or what if he cannot reach a place because he isn't able to jump high enough?]

[Double Jump allows the Host to jump a second time in the air using the force of the wind]

Time then resumed its course and Max decided to use his new skill by using the air around his feet to jump up and avoid the goblin king's kick.
