12 Killing the Pests

Max pulled the sword from the leader's hands and backed away from the group of adventurers, his strength stat wasn't very high, but it seemed higher than the leader, which did surprise him as his arms were extremely muscular.

"So training doesn't matter as long as your stats are higher huh...?" he mumbled, or maybe he was an exception because he had a divination, after all, there was no way he could have gained so many levels this easily...

[Great job, Host, you now have a usable weapon!]

The divination of the "assassin" would sometimes give comments to Max as a way to show him the way or to encourage him, which had been extremely useful when he was in the face of hopelessness.

But right now, he didn't need encouragement, he needed to win this battle, so he held the sword tightly and rushed towards the leader, swinging it as he approached him.

The boy had never used a sword in his life so the man easily blocked the attack with his shield, but Max wasn't done yet, he stabbed the blade into the wooden object and pulled it out, making a huge hole in it, it was his first time wielding such a weapon, but he felt like it was extremely familiar in his hand.

[The Host, thanks to his link with me, the divination of the assassin, has acquired basic knowledge about swordsmanship.]

Max was level 16, slightly below the level 18 leader and one level above his companions, and even though he was outnumbered, the divination's special ability increased his stats enough for victory to be possible.

He didn't wait for the man to recover from the shock of his shield breaking and jumped at him again, this time aiming for the neck, however, the adventurer managed to react and stepped back, dodging the attack by a hair's length.

"Bastard!" he roared as he took out another sword from his pocket and swung it at Max, who parried the attack with his weapon.

"You're gonna pay for that you little shit!"

The three members of the group of course did not just watch their leader fight to the death with the kid they discovered in the middle of the forest and also rushed towards the black-haired boy, making sure to all attack at the same time so he couldn't dodge.

But he didn't panic, instead, he smirked as he noticed the red lines drawn upon their chests.

'Weak Points,' he murmured, and just like that, he slashed the two weaker adventurers in what couldn't even be seen as a singular second, his speed had increased so much in this short instant that they didn't even notice Max's hand target them, and the blade ended up cutting through their armor and flesh until it reached their hearts, killing them instantly.

He also avoided the third one's attack as his speed was slower than his and stepped back to make sure the distance between the two was appropriate to not take risks.

"NO!" the leader screamed in horror as he watched his companions die and rushed towards Max, but he didn't have much time to grieve as Max kicked him in the stomach, sending him flying a few meters away.

[End those fools, Host, they do not deserve our mercy]

The last adventurer that attacked Max tried to yet again initiate a surprise attack, but he was too slow, and the boy turned around and ended him with a single slash, cutting his neck and making his corpse fall on the ground, his last moments weren't glorious, but nobody would be there to see it, so it's okay.

He heard the notifications announcing his level-up, and he couldn't help but smile, "Don't worry, you'll join them soon".

"This isn't over yet!" the leader said as he stood up and charged at Max, holding his sword tightly.

But the boy didn't move, he waited for the perfect moment to end this battle, his stats had increased again, and he was now sure there was no way the leader could win.

'I'm not going to let you kill me!' the adventurer thought as he raised his weapon, preparing to strike down on Max's head.

However, right before he could do so, the black-haired boy disappeared from his sight, and suddenly, a sharp pain came from his chest, he looked down, noticing a sword piercing through it.

"H-how...?" he asked, coughing blood as he fell on his knees, unable to stand up anymore.

Max had purposely not aimed for the man's heart, instead aiming for a slower death, just slow enough for him to get information.

"W-what are you..." the man lay on the ground, unable to move his body, "first this announcement about new divinations appearing... then now this..."

Max's ears twitched upon hearing the word divination, it seems like some people hated them too for some reason, maybe because they were extremely wrong... or maybe something else...

"Tell me," Max asked, "where is the closest city?"

"Fuck you! I ain't telling you shit!" the leader replied, glaring at the boy, but it was when looking at his eyes that he realized the unthinkable, "Y-you are one of those divination fuckers too..."

From the leader's point of view, all he could see while looking up was the silhouette of the boy surrounded by a crimson red aura that was filled with killing intent, as well as a red figure behind him, almost as if it was watching over him and ordering him to do all of this.

"Bingo..." Max smiled before slitting the man's throat and ending his life.

And just like that, the battle was over, and Max had won.

"Phew~" he sighed in relief as he sat down on the ground, resting his back against a tree.

He had killed four people, and he didn't feel any remorse, he had gotten used to the atmosphere of this world, and even though he had only spent a few days in it, he already knew that he would have to kill many more people if he wanted to survive.

[The Host shouldn't feel bad about killing such pests, because the Host should become stronger, they are perfect experience and level generators!]

It truly felt like he was grinding in a video game, except with actual human lives, but he knew that it was okay as long as they deserved it, and it wasn't all people in this garbage world that wanted him dead.

Atleast he hoped so.
