13 A Way of Leaving?

Before he could resume his journey through the Flavip Forest after killing the group of adventurers that wanted to kill him, Max rested a bit against a tree and looked at his status window, he hadn't looked at it since he killed that wolf pack, so he wanted to assess just how much his stats had increased.

'Status window," he mumbled while catching his breath, but before the screen showing his levels appeared, another notification appeared before his eyes.

*Ding*

[+249 Assassination Points for Killing "weak adventurer group"]

"Oh," he had forgotten about it, but it looked like killing those guys had truly gotten him way more APs as their level was higher than the monsters of this forest.

[Host: Max Evans]

[Age: 18]

[Race: Human (Evil Confirmed)]

[Level: 25]

[Divination of The Assassin - Evil Ranked]

[Special Ability: Assassination (Level 1)]

[Skills: Perception, Weak Points]

[Strenght: 16, Speed: 21, Endurance: 18, Divination Power: 2]

[Assassination Points: 487/1000]

His speed and endurance had increased massively, and so did his strength, he was now faster than most of the monsters in this forest, and he could take a few hits without dying, it seemed like getting rid of those bullies really was the solution to his problems.

"Alright," he stood up and stretched his arms, "let's find a way out of this shithole."

Two days later, Max was lying on the ground in the middle of the forest again, his face marked with despair as he hadn't made a single advancement towards his goal of leaving, it felt like the place he was in stretched endlessly, trapping him in an endless cycle of turning around if he didn't know the exact way to leave.

"Divination, any ideas?" the boy sighed and asked his companion, the corpses of two level 15 "vine boars" beside him.

[The Host needs to stop focusing on escaping, and instead find a logical way to get out, for example, like killing the "Goblin King"]

Max immediately stood up as he read those words but his divination wasn't finished yet, and it continued explaining its plan.

[If the Host kills the Goblin King, he will gain access to the goblin village, which is located near the exit of the forest, the Host should use the goblins as guides and leave.]

"I guess that's better than nothing," Max shrugged, "but why haven't you told me about this sooner?"

The divination didn't answer, it just stayed silent for a few seconds before speaking again.

[Because the Host needed to become stronger]

Max frowned, he didn't like the fact that his companion was messing with him, but he couldn't do anything about it, he needed it to survive in this world, so he decided to ignore it.

"Sooo... where do I go to reach the goblin king?" he didn't know just how much many things his divination hid from him, but it didn't matter.

[You will need to fight your way through the goblin cave and reach its deepest point, kill the Goblin King there and you will have access to the goblin village, which is hidden from the naked eye by a spell]

"What?" Max was confused, "I've been walking through this forest for days and I haven't seen anything like that."

The divination didn't reply, it just showed him an arrow pointing in the opposite direction which he had been taking all this time, which immediately made Max realize that he had probably been turning in circles all this time.

[The divination of the "Assassin" is an evil one, but only against those who treat it badly, the Host's days in this world have been unlucky ones so far, but do fret as it will surely change in the future]

He couldn't really understand what it tried to tell him, but his divination concluded its speech by something he could finally understand.

[This world isn't as rotten as you think, do not act harshly for no reason]

And just like that, it didn't answer Max anymore, no matter how many times he tried to ask questions and communicate, no screen appeared.

After ten minutes, he finally decided to go northeast as ordered by the arrow, unsure of what could be waiting for him, but with no other options as all he wanted to do was find civilization.

[Max Evans - Level 29]

[Assassination Points: 723/1000]

Even though Max's divination had shown him the way to the goblin cave and village, it still took him a whooping three days to reach it.

He was tired, his clothes were completely torn apart, and he was covered in dirt and dried blood, but he couldn't give up now, he was so close to finding a way out of this forest, and he would make sure to succeed.

And his efforts paid off, because now in front of him stood a huge cave entrance, one that seemed to lead deep beyond the wall it was placed against, however, there was a problem: it was guarded by dozens of goblins, all of them wearing primitive armor and holding spears.

"This is gonna be tough..." Max mumbled as he watched from behind a tree, 'but I can do it.'

He wasn't scared, he had fought many monsters during his journey through the Flavip Forest, and he had also killed several humans that tried to kill him, so fighting a bunch of goblins wouldn't be an issue.

'I can't wait to sleep on a bed again...' he thought as he approached the entrance to the cave, 'and eat proper food.'

Using his [perception] skill, he looked at the goblins' levels, and he couldn't help but smirk at the difference in level between the two of them.

[Weak Goblin - Level 6]

[Weak Goblin - Level 4]

[Weak Goblin - Level 7]

He had grown confident in his skills, and he knew that he could easily kill these guys.

So he walked forward, attracting the attention of the guards, who immediately pointed their spears at him.

"CRAWK GROAK GR~" one of them roared, alerting the others who were slacking off on the job.

Max ignored it and kept approaching them, slowly drawing one of the swords he stole from the adventurers he killed as he did so, "Sorry guys, but I need to get through."

He couldn't understand anything about what they were saying, but he could see the visible panic on their faces.

[Let's get this over with, Host, wipe those weak monsters off the face of the earth]

It was the first time in three days his divination spoke to him, and he felt the need to follow through even though the goblins looked helpless and scared.

'Maybe I really am evil...' Max thought as he kept approaching the monsters, the start of the battle now imminent.
